    Dosa

If you are looking for authentic yummy south Indian food then this is the place to come. I have been coming here from long and have tried most of their dosas and each one of them are too notch. Is this the place to bring a date? No It is inside the Indian grocery store and there is limited seating and nothing fancy. But this place is all about good food.

It's just a cafe set aside in an Indian market. It doesn't look like much, and they use all disposable plates and utensils, which I think is unfortunate. You'll find gruff employees sporadically manning the counter. However, a fair comparison for this place is not to some fine dining establishment, but to a fast food takeout joint. In that niche, Amma is a winner. This place offers a menu that seemed a bit wider than the other location in Vienna, and I finally took the chance to try a Jaipur paneer dosa, a large lentil-based crepe with spiced cheese filling. Honestly, I am not a big fan of their sambar (the soup used for dipping), but the dosa itself was crispy and the filling aromatic and hearty. Even this rather substantial item was under $10 with tax; everything here is cheap, vegetarian, and delicious. They haven't marked their menu for vegan or gluten-free, but given that trace ingredients may be present, they do have options for both. Of the twenty or so people that were eating in this small space while I was there, I was the only non-Asian, which is both a good sign (in that it must be decent food) and a bad thing (in that most of America still has not discovered the exciting world of South Indian cuisine). Some years ago, there was apparently an Amma Vegetarian Kitchen in the heart of Georgetown. I know rent is high in this town, but I really wish they'd come back to the District. We could use more of this.

Ordered chana bhatura and onion rava masala dosa. We got the food quickly and it was really yummy. The bhatura was soft and not too oily. Really loved the sambhar, full of veggies and fresh.

This Cafe is attached to the aditi spice depot grocery! The Cafe is so neatly maintained, quick service and much better overall that the Vienna Amma kitchen! We got the idli, dosa and pooris! The idlis were excellent steaming hot, freshly made and so tasty with the sambar! Ghee roast dosa was great too and so was pooris! Everything was so hot served! Reasonably priced!

Until now this might be the only place I know for snack items (tiffin we call it). Avg prices. Good quality. They are more of South Indian style especially Tamil and Kerala food. I like their dosa they are huge and tasty.

Amma's feast, all for under $10.

Good food with reasonable prices. This is more like a fast food restaurant. Yup chholey bhature is signature dish there.

Felt very full after eating a dosa. I guess they add too much baking soda to make the dosa crisp. But it left a bad feeling after eating it.

I generally think most Indian food is delicious, so how this place has been…read moreable to top them all and be my #1 best Indian restaurant--in a heavily South Asian location at that--continues to blow my mind. First of all, the service is impeccable; from the moment, I walked in, the host and manager were both so kind and hospitable in a way that felt natural, while also going above and beyond. And the decor: easily the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been in. Full stop. Just a fun experience, without even getting into food and drink. There isn't a bad seat in the restaurant, and I would even want to come sit at the fun bar. Ok, food and drink. I got a sangria, which was easily as good as any you would find in a Spanish restaurant--not too sweet. They have a fun "street food" appetizers section that isn't on most Indian menus--we got the dilli ki shaan, which were kind of like potato salad in a crispy shell? And for my main, I had the coconut machi curry with fish--omigod, it was so flavorful!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My friend got the mewa murg tikka, and I think that delicious, flavorful, savory, smokey chicken may have even been better than my dish. The habanero and cheese naans were also pretty good. I can't wait to go back, though my biggest challenge will be whether to order the same dish or try something new!

It's like being given naan, but seemed like a hard shell tortilla. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking!!! The staff were super kind and provided tons of complimentary treats included such as chai, champagne, rice pudding. Although not the best quality tasting Indian food in the area and a bit pricey we got more than our money worth with all the complimentary treats. The cheese naan wasn't fluffy and cheesy. The tikka masala was a bit too sweet and flavor wasn't quite there. I asked for some spice and they provided green Thai chili and a red paste which helped! We ordered: Mango Lasi 7/10 Mint mojito 8/10 Tikka Masala 7/10 Lamb Josh Rogan 8.5/10 Cheese naan 7/10 Provided complimentary: Two cups of champagne Chai Rice pudding I'll come back and try more items, it could've been an off day for the kitchen.

I can confidently say this is my favorite Indian restaurant I've been to in the area so far…read more Everything from the food to the service exceeded my expectations. It's conveniently located in Reston Town Center inside the Hyatt Regency hotel. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was rich, creamy, and had just the right amount of spice. It paired perfectly with the warm Garlic Naan, and I found myself reaching for every last bite. I also tried the Mango Lassi, which was smooth, refreshing, and a great balance to the spices in the meal. I'm already looking forward to coming back!

While hotel parking requires a fee, you can park in any of the Town Center lots for free after 5 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. Inside, the space is spacious and modern, and the service is quite good. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a letdown. The kale salad and the mango & avocado salad were just okay, and the chat papadi was disappointing. Both chicken dishes we ordered, the chicken tandoor and chicken sekuwa, were average at best, and the Alu mutter tasted a bit strange. The Dal Makhani was the only decent dish and the saving grace of the meal. Additionally, the portion sizes for both the dal and the Alu mutter felt small for the price. Because the location is so fantastic, we will give them another chance on a weekday when it is less crowded.

I was the only person in the restaurant at 6:30 on a Friday and within twenty minutes there must've been 30 people sitting around me. As I checked out the manager, maybe the owner, showed me the sweets that they have behind the counter and he generously helped me to make my selections and invited me to come back when the new menu is introduced in three weeks. It went so well with various curries in the platter (palak paneer, paneer masala, Chana masala, vegetable curry), the simple bowl of daal tadka went so well with the jeera rice. They also have kitchdi, so do not forget to ask for their Kitchdi. It's so good. Kitchdi is a lentil rice mix with lots of cumin. It's one of the comforting foods in north India. The ambiance was great as well. The manager just informed us they are going to start offering some South Indian food starting December 2025. I am stoked. Highly recommend this place.

I ordered the MD Special Chicken Biryani and thought it was delicious! What makes this biryani dish special was that the chicken is fried! My whole group overall enjoyed their dishes. The thing we thought was a little strange was how little rice they brought out for the group to share. Six of us ordered an entree that's to be eaten with rice and they bought out just 2 bowls of rice to share amongst them. Another person next to me ordered the same biryani, but between the 2 of us, we were given just one of each sauce to share (which was not enough!) Service was a little odd too because when the food was brought out, there was hesitancy to how they were going to bring the correct dishes to the other end of the table. We ended up passing our hot dishes down to the correct person. People who ordered mild got the spicy orders and we had to switch things around. We also waited a long while after we finished eating and had to call someone over for the check.
