I have been many times to this place and I really like the food. I have tried many items of their menu and everything is really tasty and on top of that, price is very cheap. For $30 we 4 people had a good dinner. One of the thing I would like to let everyone know, if you reach there by 8.30 pm, you will not be be allowed to sit and eat. Terrific place which serves great vegetarian food. The only downside is that the space doesn't look like a proper restaurant as they seem to have only one lane inside an Indian grocery store (Aditi) but the food is well prepared, clean and tastes terrific. If you're looking for a vegetarian place around the Herndon/Reston area, Amma's and Balaji cafe are the best and by all means you should avoid going to Chutneys (in clock tower) which is very dirty and unhygienic. read more

This place had OK food. The bhel puri was dry. We ordered masala dosas - the dosas were good as they were not greasy but the potatoes were not very flavorful. The sambar I found to be a bit salty. I've definitely had better south Indian food elsewhere so this place was not worth the trip for me. Also the ambiance was nothing great as it was fast food and you definitely can't come here with a party of more than 4 people. Overall, I don't think I would come here again. read more

We came here for dinner a few nights ago. It's connected to a grocery store, so the ambiance is ok, but it worked out great for me since I remembered a few items I needed when we got there! Anyway, on to the food. We ordered one plate of Chole bhature and one plate of Onion Rava Masala Dosa. Both were pretty good...Chole weren't spicy which was great, whereas the sambar had a bit of heat to it. Mind you I don't eat much spice anymore so this is just my opinion. We also took 2 masala dosa, 1 Chole bhature, 1 potato chapatti combos to go for our family. They enjoyed it too. The only negative thing I have say, which is not entirely the restaurants fault, is there there was a group of people that looked to be there for a working dinner. They put tables together in such a way that they blocked the restaurant order counter from half the restaurant, plus they created a fire hazard. To top it off they went and got beer from somewhere (the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol) and started drinking there. Now I don't have and issue with drinking as I myself drink beer, but the issue was not respecting the restaurant. Such behaviour could result in a hefty fine for the restaurant. Anyway, the behaviour by these people sort of messed up the enjoyment as they treated the place like they owned it or it was their kitchen...not appreciated and very disrespectful to the restaurant works and other patrons. read more

I was visiting my sister and I took her and my Dad to this location - and the food had come down in quality - the dosa was really bad - seemed that they had added some besan to the dosa flour and the coconut chutney had gone bad and was stinking with bad coocnut smell. Very very disappointed - but this is not new of Indian restaurants - they start out good and then they do not worry about quality and dish out bad food. read more

**Herndon Location one star** I just started eating vegetarian, and I was excited to try a local spot. I ordered the Onion Chili Masala Dosa and Samosa, and to my surprise and shock they brought my food out to front counter and sat it there with no concern on what my food was touching. They had the wrap from Dosas laying on the counter (yuck), the same unclean counter that ever customer has touch all day and where money is exchanged. Granted the wrap is large but they could have folded it over or took care as not to let the wrap get possibly contaminated by touching the dirty counter. It was litterally hanging over the paper plate touching plastic tray, which was bad enough, and then hanging beyond the tray and litterally touching and laying on the counter. A good five inches of it was laying on the counter. I was initially shocked when the guy called me up to get it. The look on his face was like it was normal and standard practice. I didnt say anything because it didnt look like he would have cared, and If he doesnt care about the food in that manner, it makes me concerned about the preperation, and whats happening with the food where I can't see?!!! There could be health code violations!!!! This place suppose to have a good reputation, Needless to say I wont come back here, I may consider the other location but I am completely turned off at this point!!! I hope management reads this, and changes this practice with the food handling !!! read more

The worst experience ever. We ordered Onion Rava which was soggy. The gulab jamun was moldy. When I went to the counter and asked him he said its from can. So it was moldy smelly and hard. The person at the counter wdnt even apologize. Worst customer service. If you want to go then order few items like choke bhature or plain dosa which seemed ok. Won't ever go again read more

Amma's kitchen Herndon doesn't serve the food as good as they do in Vienna. So, I suggest you take some time and effort to drive to Vienna for the best food. I had Rava onion Dosa here, which was the worse I had eaten in years. The dosa and sambar did not taste good, and the chutney was dilute and less in quantity. I would actually give 3.5, because it's good and cheap, but not all items great. I like their chole bhature, poori bhaji, but not their sambar which comes with Dosas or Idlis. Dosa is good, but can't say same about Idli or vada. read more

Good Indian food for a decent price, this restaurant is inside Aditi Spice Depot and is kind of hidden, unless you get into the grocey store you wont know that is exists. The food here is great and the prices are awesome, if you like south indian food you should definitely check this place out. read more

Very friendly service. The Dosas are good. The Palaak Paneer and Rice are terrible. The rice tastes like uncle Bens with zero salt or pepper or oil or any type of flavor at all. Just plain barboiled rice. The Palaak tastes like a powder mix, also with no flavor. I won't be trying them again. read more

This place has never disappointed me. I dined-in once and ordered carry-out several times, and everything that I have had so far is excellent quality. The best part is, it is quite inexpensive. Whatever I have ordered on the phone has always been ready within 15 minutes. Not a great dine-in option though. But I absolutely don't mind that since I almost always order takeout. I have tried their aloo-chaat, chole bhatura, veg thali, veg biryani, hakka noodles, dosas, and few more that I am forgetting. All of them get thumbs up from me. Staff is pretty good too. Please note the closing time though. It closes at 9:00 PM everyday. I guess that's dictated by the fact that it is inside Aditi spice depot grocery store.
