This is other customer complaining about the same behavior

I am submitting this complaint regarding AMKO Auto and a pattern of deceptive, unfair, and potentially illegal business practices involving undisclosed fees, false advertising, and harassment. Summary of Incident On March 17-18, 2026, I contacted AMKO Auto regarding a 2020 Audi Q8 advertised for $17,500. Based on Maryland law, the estimated total cost--including 6% sales tax and the state‑regulated maximum dealer processing fee of $800--should have been approximately $19,350. However, after reading multiple online reviews reporting undisclosed dealer fees, I asked AMKO Auto directly for clarification. They confirmed that they charge a $3,495 "processing fee," an amount far above the legal cap and not disclosed anywhere in their online listings or advertisements. Undisclosed & Improper Fees When asked to explain this fee, the dealership stated the following: The fee includes vehicle delivery, Repairs needed before selling the vehicle, Additional work performed prior to listing, Mandatory warranties and add‑ons, which they claim customers are required to pay for. None of these charges are disclosed on their website, in their advertisements, or during initial communication. When I asked why the fees were hidden, they openly stated that listing the fees would deter customers from purchasing their cars. After adding their undisclosed $3,495 fee, they further stated that tag and title fees (approximately $800) and taxes were not included. This would bring the total cost of the vehicle to nearly $23,000, despite being advertised at $17,500. This represents clear false advertising, fee misrepresentation, and failure to disclose mandatory charges, all of which violate FTC and Maryland consumer‑protection laws. Harassment After Declining the Purchase When I informed the dealership that their pricing practices appeared illegal and that I planned to report the issue, I immediately began receiving multiple phone calls from the dealership. When I stopped answering, they began calling me from different phone numbers. This behavior constitutes harassment and intimidation following a consumer's decision not to proceed with a purchase. Why I Am Filing This Complaint AMKO Auto is: Advertising vehicles at prices that do not reflect the actual required purchase cost Charging a processing fee that exceeds Maryland's legal maximum Forcing consumers to pay for repairs, delivery, and add‑ons that should not be part of a dealer processing fee Refusing to disclose mandatory fees in advertisements or online listings Engaging in harassment when a consumer declines to proceed These practices harm consumers, distort automotive pricing transparency, and violate both state and federal regulations governing fair dealership conduct.

    AC Value was non existent

I recently bought a car from this dealership. The car had a service light and I brought it back the next day after purchasing it. Another note is I noticed the AC didn't work and asked for that to be fixed. I noticed it when looking at the engine and pointed this out to the salesman. After bringing it back the next day the manager told me to take it to there Templehills location. The car sat there for almost two months and was never touched. I have asked them countless times to fix the issue on my car and no response from email or calls to the dealership. I bought a car from them years ago and had such a great experience then and the car was great. This time since it looks like he management has changed my experience was rude and just no customer service. I do have to commend Moses at the Laurel store because he was a great person to talk to but nothing was ever done about my car. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! SNEAKY and will never do what they say!

    Horribly misaligned tire.

We accepted the vehicle despite the high mileage because there was no other comparable vehicle available at the time, and it was eligible for the federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit. In my opinion, vehicles intended for customers should be delivered in the best possible condition. Dealership management should not be putting extensive personal mileage on vehicles that will later be sold as new. The delivery experience was also poor. The EV was delivered without a charging cable, and I only received one after I noticed it was missing and asked for it. In addition, the trim on the right rear side of the vehicle was loose when I took delivery. It took the dealership about a month to complete that repair. The most frustrating issue has been the federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit. The IRS has informed me that it has no record of my vehicle's sale for the Clean Vehicle Credit. I contacted King Kia of Laurel multiple times for assistance. I emailed Mr. White, the Sales Manager, over a month ago and never received a response. I also spoke with someone in the accounting department nearly two months ago, but I have still received no help. Customer service after the sale has been extremely disappointing. It's easy to be friendly when making a sale, but what matters is how customers are treated afterward. Unfortunately, I did not receive the level of professionalism or support I expected. Since then, I have purchased both a Kia K4 and a Kia Carnival from other Kia dealerships because I chose not to return to King Kia of Laurel. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. I will not be returning for future purchases.

When I asked about the delay, the response was vague and dismissive. I was told, "We can't do anything about it," and they even offered to refund my deposit mid-conversation without addressing my concerns. This entire interaction left me feeling like I was misled into placing a deposit so they could lock me out of the end-of-quarter and July 4th lease deals while pushing other inventory. On June 30, 2026, I traded in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, made a $500 down payment, and purchased a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited. The sales staff--Will, Elliott, Marcus, Lonnie, and Sam--were courteous and professional throughout the process, which I genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, the vehicle was another story. Before leaving the dealership, I discovered several issues: a non-working key fob, a third-row seat that wouldn't fold, a blown subwoofer, cosmetic defects, and missing sales paperwork. I was assured these issues would be corrected. Just days later, while traveling with my young son for the Fourth of July holiday, the check engine light came on. A diagnostic at a Jeep dealership revealed an engine misfire, an intake valve issue, corrosion in the key fob, and evidence of rodent activity under the hood. I immediately returned the vehicle because I no longer felt it was safe to drive. Over the next two weeks, I made multiple trips to the dealership, took leave from work, test-drove replacement vehicles, and repeatedly waited for promised follow-up calls that never came. Communication became inconsistent. After such frustrations, I purchased another vehicle from another trusted dealership. Despite being told my contract would be canceled, I attempted to return the loaner vehicle only to find my trade-in had already been sold. I was told to return the next day to speak with someone else. Keep in mind, I have had the loaner for three weeks without a replacement vehicle and my creditor had not been paid or informed. The next day, I called ahead and was told the sale of my trade-in had been canceled. I could pick up my 2018 Jeep, sign the paperwork to cancel my purchase, and receive a refund of my down payment. However, when I arrived, the employee I had spoken with was not there, the person handling refunds had left, and no one seemed to know why I was there. After explaining the situation again, I received my refund, signed the cancellation paperwork, and was given only one of the two keys I had turned in as part of my trade. I declined to sign the key acknowledgment because I was not receiving everything I had surrendered. I was told the person who handled the keys was also not present. Although I eventually got my original vehicle back (without two keys) and my down payment refunded, the time, stress, and inconvenience this process caused were unnecessary. I understand pre-owned vehicles can have normal wear and cosmetic imperfections, but serious mechanical problems, rodent infestation, repeated communication breakdowns, and multiple unnecessary trips to the dealership are unacceptable. While I appreciated the professionalism of several individual employees, the overall experience was frustrating, disorganized, and far below the level of service I expected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both its vehicle inspection process and its communication with customers. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership.

Rather than trying to steer me toward a different trim, he went above and beyond to locate and reserve the exact vehicle I wanted. What stood out most was how patient and genuine he was throughout the entire process. I had a lot of questions, and Tyler always took the time to answer them thoroughly and make sure I understood everything. I never felt rushed or pressured into making a decision. Communication was outstanding from the day I placed my deposit until the day I picked up my vehicle, including updates during the brief factory inspection hold. When I took delivery, Tyler didn't just hand me the keys. He helped me pair my phone, walked me through the vehicle's features, showed me how to open the fuel door, and even let me practice using the hands-free power liftgate until I felt comfortable. The finance manager Mike J. was very nice and made sure I was able to get financing that I needed, although I didn't have top-notch credit history. That's where the positive interaction ends. I purchased the car on a Sunday as is. Because the car came from the Baltimore location and it was after hours, I didn't even think I should test drive the car because I trusted Eastern's not to sell me a car with issues, however that is not the case. As I drove off the lot and hit one bump, the entire bottom of the car rattled. It felt like serious suspension issues, or something under the car. I did let Yanna P know the very next morning. After some back and forth for almost two weeks I was told my extended warranty was active. I was confused because I felt i didn't do anything to the car so what does the extended warranty have to do with it. Nevertheless, I made an appointment and have to pay $189 for the car to be looked at, and it appears I may have to fit the bill for the work that needs to be done if the issue is not covered. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE AS IS without test driving the car first from Eastern's. I put my trust in a dealership I thought wouldn't sell me a messed up car, but they did. To make matters worse, the transporter who drove the car from the Baltimore location never told Yanna P. about the rattling noise and possible issues before she gave me the keys, or if he did I was never made aware. In the end it appears everyone just wanted a sale with no thought of the consumer experience. Too bad, I was really excited about working with this dealership now that they have a service center, but instead I will try to deter anyone from going there. Definitely would recommend CarMax or Auto Nation since they do a quality check on cars they are reselling.

What should have been a standard, simple tire installation turned into an incredibly frustrating ordeal. My original appointment was on July 28th. I waited for hours, only to find out the new tires had sidewall damage. While they did waive the labor charge for that initial delay, the situation quickly spiraled. I ended up being without my vehicle for three days due to back-and-forth delays, a second set of defective tires with flat spots, and a severe lack of communication from the service team during those first few days. It was a massive inconvenience. To their credit, they did eventually get it right. Service Manager Mike stepped in, stayed in consistent contact with me while processing the claim with the tire distributor, and finally got the right tires in. When I returned on August 5th, over a week later, for the actual installation, Mike and my service advisor, Gerron Jackson, provided me with a loaner Atlas for the day and made sure everything was balanced and working perfectly. While I appreciate Mike and Gerron fixing the situation in the end, the whole process just took way too long. Waiving the initial labor fee on day one simply doesn't make up for losing access to my vehicle for 72 hours and having to wait an extra week just to get tires installed. Considering the extreme hassle and loss of time, I really expected some sort of additional goodwill gesture, like a couple of complimentary oil changes, to help rebuild my confidence in their service department. Because of how this was handled, I'm still hesitant to bring my vehicle back here for any serious mechanical work.

I dropped my vehicle off the night before so it would be ready when the service department opened at 7:30 a.m. By 11:00 a.m., no one had contacted me, so I called. I was told my service advisor was unavailable and that someone would call me back. That never happened. Over the next 2 1/2 hours, I called the dealership eight times. One call was disconnected, one went to voicemail, and on the remaining calls I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me. No one ever did. When I finally reached someone, I was told they "didn't have time" to look at my vehicle, despite the fact that I had a scheduled appointment. I was also told that my 8:00 a.m. appointment "didn't matter" and that they would get to my vehicle whenever they got to it. If appointments are not honored, customers should be told that up front instead of being left waiting all day with no communication. I picked up my vehicle without any work being performed. As they began explaining what they believed the issue was, I reminded them that I had already told them exactly what the problem was when I scheduled the appointment. Had anyone simply looked at the vehicle or communicated with me, the repair could likely have been completed that day. I understand that staffing shortages happen, but poor communication and failing to honor scheduled appointments are not acceptable. A simple phone call early in the day explaining the delay would have made a significant difference. Unfortunately, this experience left me with little confidence in the dealership's service department.
