I have been going to Amita for 3 years and never once was disappointed in her work. I used to go to random nail salons and get my eyebrows done for 10-15 dollars and end up getting ugly rainbow shaped with no definition eyebrows and was sometimes burnt by wax. I then tried a threading place in Belmont that charged me 25 dollars for eyebrows. 25 dollars? really? I have thick sicilian eyebrows and Amita does an AMAZING job on them. She shapes them perfectly for my face shape and leaves them super clean. Even my friends with lack of brows go to her for shape and defintion and she still does an awesome job with given basically no hair to work with. For me when I first look at a person I notice their eyebrows and every person I see come out of Amita's studio has perfect brows. Tons of my friends are still loyal clients of hers and even have switched from their old eyebrow stylist to Amita. Yes you may have to wait for Amita to finish up with a client but you cannot complain. She takes her time and makes sure that the eyebrows match and have the same definition and shape. I purchased threading services through Groupon/Living Social about a year ago and have continued seeing Amita since then. She does a great job spending at least 20-25 minutes working on me making sure my eyebrows are perfect. I also like that when she does my upper lip that sometimes she'll include my lower lip and chin if needed. It's always easy to get an appointment by text and she can usually schedule me in on my requested day and time. I highly recommend Amita! read more

I've been coming to Amita for the past 4-5 years now because she is very meticulous, careful and... most importantly...she knows brows. She will take her time to make sure she gets rid of every stray hair off of your face. Amita is awesome. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for years. It has always been hard to find people that do it right and do it well. I was desperately looking for a new threader, because the woman I was seeing never had room on her schedule and was expensive. I found Amita on yelp and I am sooooooo excited to have found her. Amita is by far the best threader I have had in the US. Something about her method makes her threading the least painful I have experienced. She uses good thread (yes, there is a difference from the other thread I have experienced). She is precise and does very little tweezing. She is also quick, while being gentle. I also like that she plays relaxing music in her studio. Amita always returns her voice messages right away, which unfortunately isn't always the case with beauty services. She has also been very accommodating with appointments. Her fees are very reasonable as well. I have very sensitive skin and have had some bad experiences and skin reactions from waxing. Threading is now my only option for my eyebrows and my upper and lower lip. I highly recommend threading (and Amita to do it!) as a better alternative to waxing or tweezing. This is a review coming from someone with pretty high pain tolerance. So, if you're wimpy about getting your hair pulled out, you should read the next review. This isn't the first time I've had my eyebrows threaded but definitely a first with Amita. I recently moved to the Burlingame area and wanted to have my eyebrows threaded at a location that I could walk to. Because of all the great reviews on Yelp about Amita, I decided to come here. I would recommend that you call in advance to get an appointment. I called on a Thursday and got an appointment for Saturday at 4pm, which wasn't too bad. But I would make an appointment to get a convenient time for myself (you don't want to be stuck with an appointment during lunch time or in the middle of a day when most people are out enjoying themselves). I got an eyebrow and upper lip threading done (Total = $20 for eyebrow and upper lips + tips): To get straight to the point, here's why I gave Amita a 5-star rating: - This was my least painful eyebrow threading experience. I've actually been to some where tears were trickling down my face as they were threading me. (Yes, it was THAT painful) - Amita cares. She noticed that my eyebrows were slightly uneven and did her best to try and even it out in terms of angle and thickness.Plus, she didn't rush through it all (give yourself 30 minutes with her) - She took her time to carefully clean the surroundings of my eyebrows. This is by far the cleanest eyebrow threading session I've had. I left my prior eyebrow sessions with bits and pieces still noticeable on the edges and in between my brows. - I don't mind not having the small talks since she has a thread in her mouth and I feel paranoid about having someone chatting with me while they're doing stuff like threading my eyebrows or cutting my hair. ("Oops! I accidentally cut off a whole bunch of your hair because we were so busy chatting and laughing!") All in all, if you're thinking of trying out a new place, you should consider Amita. Honestly, I was a little afraid at first (who wouldn't be?! Eyebrows take forever to grow back when it's done badly) but after my session, I immediately asked to be scheduled a month out. read more

I went to Amita for the first time this past Saturday to have my eyebrows threaded. I've been to three other threading studios before, and I've always had to do additional cleanup when I got home. Amita was very thorough and did an outstanding job on my eyebrows. The other places I've been to usually spent 10 minutes tops on threading, but my appointment with Amita lasted 30 minutes. She gave my eyebrows such a great shape. I will definitely be returning to her. I can't believe I didn't go to her sooner especially since she's only a three minute drive from home. Very happy with the work that Amita did on my uneven, thick eyebrows. I strayed from threading (been threading for many years, oh I am from the east coast - Toronto) and opted for waxing (bad idea) but in my defense I did not know there were salon's that did threading. Every salon that I ever came across did waxing and one fine day I moved to San Bruno and yelped and found Amita's. With all the excellent reviews that I saw on yelp, thought I would try this. I have to say she has done an excellent job, giving me the brows that I wanted. She was very professional and asked what kind of shape I wanted and when she finished her work asked me to check and everything was perfect. She also asked whether I wanted any lotion or anything for my brows. Overall, a very pleasant experience, except for one thing, I did not tip her, shame on me. MAGNIFICENT!!! Amita has a creative, sharp eye that can spot every small hair shaft. What I love about her is her customer relations; she spends ample time on me and she makes sure she gets every single spot before having me walk outside. My eyebrows were never so PERFECTLY shaped. I always had my eyebrows done by a "professional" but professional hasn't been seen until you've been to Amita. I have thick, course eyebrows and she shapes them so they don't look like a bush but stands out my eyes. If you are one of me, you def need to see her. At first it is a weird feeling but it becomes numb after a while and it's better for your skin than waxing of layers of your epidermis. Well, because I'm currently using skincare products which prohibit me from waxing, I decided to try threading. Amita had great recommendations on yelp so I decide to try - why not?! And the results, WOW! I have BARELY any eyebrows, so I just simply asked if she could do the best with what I had and she totally hooked me up: 10 minutes later I walked out of that salon looking f-i-e-r-c-e! I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for the last 5 years and have got it done by several people but I have to say Amita is the best. I am very picky about my eyebrows and she is one person who I can trust. I can go in there not worrying about how my eyebrows are going to look after they are done. She makes them look perfect, both my eyebrows are also different and it is very difficult for both to look same but some how she makes them look identical. I live in Dublin which is about an hour from where she is but I make the effort to drive there every time when I want my eyebrows done because I know I won't be disappointed. Another reason why I love going to her is because I have got my eyebrows and upperlip done by a lot of different people and my eyes would always start to water up, with Amita is so gentle that the threading does not hurt.
