I almost laughed when we pulled up, "It smells good... How come we've never been here before?" (I believe I suggested it...) For apps I ordered cornbread and onion rings and let he tell you, you THINK you've seen onion rings before, yeah these are about 3x as thick! More than one "what the heck?" at that table! I used to live in Texas, been to Texas own BBQ of Mecca in Lockhart. I used to do the trip from Houston to Phoenix about 4x a year, a short 1200 mile trip... one way. I'd leave Houston at thee in the morning and would be standing at my favorite Lockhart BBQ place at six to order two pounds of brisket for. The rest of the drive, so I'm spoiled regarding brisket. This isn't Lockhart good, but it's not bad for Idaho. I think next time I'd get the Brisket Salad, someone in our party had it and looked haply. Mt wife had the brisket sandwich and it became both lunch and dinner for her... And I ate what was left. My brother in law had a Chicken Fried Steak that could feed a small village. Once I lose a few more pounds I may entertain a trip for it. The eternal question is, would I go back? At least twice for the salad and CFS! By the way, they get bonus points for having Shiner on tap! It ain't real Texas BBQ if they don't offer Shiner! The complimentary Key Lime Pie for my birthday just topped everything off!

I chose chicken, turkey ($2 upcharge) and sausage. I also had to try their chili. Food was packaged well for travel! I was thinking chili is chili, until I removed the top. Look at those chunks of beef!! They even brought me more onions and cheese (my favorites)! This place smelled amazing and everyone was super friendly!! If you're ever in Boise Idaho, give them a try! I really like how they do the three courses that you get to choose from. Our server was lovely. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us with our choices. Reservations are highly recommended as it is a small restaurant that gives you a very personal experience.

There is an upcharge for certain items ($10 extra for Wagyu steak). Susina features a European-inspired, three-course dinner menu that changes weekly and blends local, seasonal and organic ingredients. They also have gluten-free and vegan options. Ambiance: Stepping into the intimate, candle-lit dining room at Susina feels like entering a romantic European bistro. The restaurant is in a converted house in the Bench neighborhood and is decorated with charming vintage art. Adding to the vintage charm, each course is served on mismatched vintage dishes. For our first course, we ordered the Beets and Ricotta Salad and the Fettucine Saisiccia. The Beet Salad was a generous portion of red and golden beets with citrus, hazelnuts, mint and ricotta. The fettucine and sausage are both handmade in house and are both delicate and delicious. I ordered the Wagyu Flat Iron steak with au poivre sauce, mashed potatoes and winter vegetables. Each part of my entrée was executed perfectly. The Snake River Farms Wagyu was exactly medium rare and was tender and flavorful. The Joël Robuchon style mashed potatoes were smooth as velvet, light and buttery. My partner ordered the Cassoulet with braised duck leg, house-made bacon lardons, house sausage, Mayocoba beans, celery root and herb oil. The Wagyu was definitely the stand out of the evening. While I prefer duck confit in a cassoulet, to the braised duck preparation that they offered, it was still very good. Finally, we chose the brûléed cheesecake with strawberry sauce for dessert. The caramelized sugar crust on the cheesecake was beyond heavenly. Pro-Tip: Reservations are recommended. Susina's chef, Alex Cardoza, was just nominated as a semifinalist for best chef Mountain Division by James Beard Award for 2026 and they are very popular. We added our names to the waitlist and were able to get an early 5:15 pm spot that way
