Let's start off with I've been here more than 12 years ago. Since then the place has really expanded a lot with an additional room and outside seating. The menu was pretty basic with some specials. One of the specials was a mushroom cheddar soup which was outstanding. My wife had the Taco Salad with grilled chicken and she absolutely loved it. I had the Shrimp Tacos which was also very tasty, a bit messy. The only complaint I have was the price of the sodas. They charged $3.50 each for a glass which had a lot of ice and an additional $1.50 each for a refill. Since we tend to eat out pretty often, a total of $10.00 for 2 sodas was a bit much. I haven't been charged for a refill in years. I wish I had known that before I ordered. Service was top notch...: Overall a good experience! read more

I am an idiot. I live rather close to Amigos Cantina and had dinner there several years ago. I do remember liking it and have no idea why I haven't been back. I'm an idiot! A friend of mine that is very picky when it comes to Mexican food said that this is the only place she will get takeout from. I was VERY excited to see that they have street tacos! I LOVE street tacos. Not many places around here have good street tacos. Amigos Cantina does. So, we got almost all varieties (except for salmon) of the street tacos and a pile of nachos. Plus...one traditional taco. Everything was great! I heated up everything in a 250° oven so that it was warm instead of eating cold takeout. I especially liked the shrimp: two large/jumbo shrimp in each taco that were perfectly seasoned. The blackened haddock was excellent, too. I tasted the steak and it was quite spicy...which I like. Whatever they use as a marinade has a nice kick to it. The nachos are really good quality without being overly greasy or too thick. They have a great system for contactless/safe food ordering and my Friday night taco indulge was wonderful. My neighbors go there frequently and said that the margaritas are awesome. I happened to make my own 'ritas last night but next time I have my eye on at least a margarita and... burritos!! The only reason why it's a four-star and not a five star review is because one of the dinners was supposed to have black beans and rice. They forgot those sides but in the scheme of things it's OK. So we went here recently, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. We got stuck in the middle of the bar at a very small table where we didn't have enough room for our food. Service was OK, but not anything special, waitstaff was not super friendly and seemed a bit annoyed when I politely asked a couple questions. The food was very good, but pretty expensive for what it is. Margarita was reasonably priced and I would definitely come back to sit at the bar and have a drink, but I would definitely ask for a different table if I were to be seated at one because the spot was a truly terrible place to sit for dinner. Make sure to ask to sit in the dining room or off the side in the bar. Definitely worth checking out when you are willing to spend a bit on dinner. read more

Staying in Saratoga Springs, but visited Schuyler House . While in the area decided to try Amigos Cantina for some good Mexican food and was not disappointed. Very cute indoor areas, has two distinct bar room, and a very cute outdoor area with twinkle lights etc. We ate outdoors. As seems to be the case in most restaurants now, due to covid, they were a little short staffed and consequently, the wait was a little longer for the food to be brought to the table. Staff did bring water and chips and salsa in timely manner. Food however was very good and they had a nice menu with lots of good vegetarian/ vegan options.Guacamole was great with plenty of chips. Service was good, prices were okay, but I was shocked that we were there for "thirsty Thursday" and we ordered 3 pepsi sodas. 10.95$ WOW. And then a dollar for refills. It would have been cheaper to buy liquor! Had the chimichanga, which the filling was good, but it seemed like it was cooked in old and cold oil. That was disappointing. It wasn't crunchy (cold oil) and had that taste that you get when you've used the oil longer than you should have. Nice atmosphere overall. I can see why people like the place, but overall it was just okay. They tasted more like a pot of chili than enchiladas (which sounds crazy, but trust me on that). My boyfriend ordered a chicken fajita which came out so very dry and very bland. The side of rice was also just bland white rice. I did get one taco that I was pleased with. I wouldn't be so upset with my experience if the prices and my expectations weren't so high. My family, which totaled nine people were turned out onto the street to wait in the frigid 20° weather with a newborn baby because they didn't have a table ready for us! This place is probably going to become a somewhat staple place for my husband and I this year. We have been here twice now and it's been enjoyable on both occasions. The chips and salsa and always great, they taste fresh and flavorful. (My gripe, of course, is that refills for chips and salsa are not free. I mean, c'mon, that's a little much considering the prices are definitely higher than a typical restaurant of this caliber which I'm OK with because I appreciate the quality.) The shrimp enchiladas are my favorite (again, something like $18.99 with rice and beans which I'll get to...slightly pricey AF.) The flavors are wonderful and I will say that for that price they sure don't skimp on the shrimp; there are a lot of them! I'm a verde sauce gal and the sauce here was excellent. Overall the dish was delicious and I'm sure I'll order multiple times again before I try something else. The only thing I didn't like was the black beans that came with the dish. They were honestly pretty bland with no flavor; I was disappointed. The regular margarita on the rocks with salt is delicious and so is the jalapeño margarita! I came here on Saturday night for the first time and was craving it again early on Sunday morning. A group of four of us had a 7:00pm reservation. We were seated right away, which I appreciate. The only complaint I have about this place (based on my one experience) is that it's kind of small inside, I felt like the people sitting at the table next to us were, like, RIGHT there. But I can overlook that because of all of the good things: The drinks: I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, which was fantastic. It was very large and quite strong. I had a nice buzz going on after just one. Two people at the table each ordered the same margarita (I forget what it's called, but really wish I remembered so I could give credit for it) and they both LOVED it. Then my husband got the mojito and he also loved that. They are very generous with their alcohol, which I think everyone can appreciate. The apps: We ordered both the guac and the queso. Our friend looooooves the guac. To be honest, I didn't think it was anything special. It was definitely good, but I don't know what about it makes him love it so much. Regardless, I ate quite a bit and enjoyed it. The queso, however, was AMAZING. So much different than any other queso that I've had, but I can't quite pinpoint what's different about it. My only complaint about the queso was that I had to share it :( But now I know better for next time. The meal: I had the chicken chimichanga. It was HUGE. And delicious. The outside was perfectly fried (aka perfectly crispy). The chicken had a bit of spice in it, which was nice. Most of the Mexican restaurants where I've ordered a chimichanga it's not spicy at all. It came with a generous serving of rice on the side. The rice didn't have much flavor, but that's fine by me. My husband had the beef chimichanga and also loved it. Friends ordered a quesedilla and maybe a burrito? I forget. But everyone loved their meals. The dessert: After eating so much guac, queso and then chimichanga, I wasn't sure I had much desire for dessert (which NEVER happens). Luckily my husband knows me better than I know myself sometimes, and he convinced me to order it. All four of us ordered the chocolate creme brulee.... WOW is all I can say. It's perfect. Like eating chocolate mousse but with a chocolatey sugary crispy layer on top. SO GOOD. All four of us enjoyed quite a bit. I really would have regretted it if I'd missed out on this. The service was good. Very friendly, and for a Saturday night I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly everything came out. As I mentioned, I'm REALLY looking forward to going back. My husband and I have talked about this place at least one a day since we went there. I wish they'd open one in Albany! I would certainly recommend it if you're in the area! read more

So when you get here parking is actually not hard to find. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was very nice. It wasn't very fast service. They have Pepsi products for sodas and a lot of alcoholic options. We got a small nachos as an appetizer and the chips were burnt. All together it was pretty bland and cheese looked like it was nuked in the microwave. Drink refills took forever. I got a chicken quesadilla. It was supposed to come with sour cream but I didn't get any (I'm sure if I asked they would have brought it to me but the quesadilla was fine without it). The rice is a different story. My first bite had something kind of hard and I thought there was meat in it or something so I took it out to see what I was eating and it was just climbed up old rice. So I was done with that. My boyfriend got carne assada dish (hope that's spelled correctly). He thought his main dish was good. The sides he agreed the rice tasted old. He also had a side of beans and they looked like they sat for a while. Our main course was great, the sides we didn't eat. All in all glad we tried it but would not come back. How good is a Mexican Restaurant with no Hispanic customers or staff?!? This restaurant came highly recommended by a co-worker, but sadly, I was not impressed. My love of Tex/Mex and Mexican food comes from 25 years in Texas. Nice decor/ambiance, good waitstaff, but the food left a LOT to be desired. - very limited menu - tortilla chips were qarm, but too thick - picante sauce was too chunky/almost no sauce in it; just diced vegetabled that included roasted red peppers. - burnt nachos appetizer - "Thirsty Thursday" house Magarita was almost sour, not sweet. - chef's special spicy shrimp with anduille (NOT Mexican) sausage and polenta was very soupy and very spicy. I asked for a side of Spanish rice and received white rice with cilantro. :-( - nowhere on the menu did I see refried beans. We will not be returning to this restaurant. My choice is still La Cosina in Glens Falls or La Fiesta in Cedar Park for AUTHENTIC Mexican food. read more

On Tuesday, August 30, 2022 we visited Amigos Cantina for dinner and drinks...our 3rd visit. So happy we found seats at the bar! We enjoy the ambiance and food is always good! Unfortunately, the bartender was not is a fiesta-state of mind. There was no warm, friendly greeting, but plenty of curt, frazzled and arrogant responses.
