Finally tried this place and yes I love the fried mac-n-cheese wedges that I was sent here for (I personally prefer them to the mac-n-cheese balls at The Cheesecake Factory). I also love the okra, even if I've been spoiled by America's Best Wings and a few other select ABW's with the special hard, crunch coated okra. This place keeps their traditionally battered fried okra fresh and crispy. I've had bad experiences where some establishments let their okra get wilted and soggy (yes, I'm talking to you ABW on Alabama Ave, SE!) I tried this Kool-Aid (their fountain drinks) which I would agree would hit the spot in mama's kitchen. Such a surprise to see an establishment selling it. Who am I to question it.... a cup of diabetes to go along with the fried carb heart attack. Really, it's not any sweeter than an ice tea-lemonade mix from a carryout or other establishment. With two visits under my belt (wing meals, okra, mac-n-cheese wedges, kool-aid have been sampled), here's what I came away with: LOVE: nice staff, okra, mac-n-cheese wedges,convenience, parking, nice staff, they will let you sample the sauce before committing to a flavor on your wings. They also sell Honeybun Cakes (a local black owned vendor of dessert cakes--support small business!) DIDN'T LOVE SO MUCH: a meal with wings are just the fries added (not a lot); drink is sold separately, any blue cheese/ranch etc is $.25 extra. Many of the sauces are very similar. The wings were good. They did not knock my socks off, but they definitely satisfied my craving and were well done. I really just wanted to review this place because it's "US" owned (and I don't mean United States) and it's rare that you see that in our neighborhoods. I ordered food from the Wing Heaven in District Heights and when I went back in to pick up my food I saw with my own two be of the worker who was putting my food in the container literally use her bare hands to put my fries in the container. When I brought the issue to her attention she was rude and acted as though she did nothing wrong. I asked for a full refund because there was no way I eating she anything she fixed. One day a called to place my order and the young lady told me since I wasn't paying with a card over the phone, they would start my order and finish once I arrived. They also nickel and dime you, which I don't appreciate either. I ordered a pound of fish and okra one time and asked for bread (it's not uncommon to have the bead thrown in). I was told the bread was $.60 a piece! That's crazy! I bought a loaf of bread for less than I would have paid for 4 pieces across the street. There was seating to wait for your order. I took forever trying to decide what I wanted. I couldn't decide whether I wanted wings or catfish. I'm not a huge eater, but I decided to get both. I got the lemon pepper wings, the fried catfish, fries, and the Tropical Fruit Punch Kool-Aid. I just could not resist getting that damn Kool-Aid. You never know how others make their Kool-Aid too sweet or not sweet enough. Well let me tell you the Kool-Aid was on point. I sucked it down with a quickness! The fries were good steak fries. The catfish was crispy and seasoned well. I didn't eat the wings while doing laundry and let them get cold, that was my bad. I love the fact that they make your order after you have placed it and they don't just chicken sitting up there cooking under a heat lamp. I take out once a week, this food is good. I have try something new every time I go in. My favorite are the cheese sticks without the marinara sauce, a traditional melts crispy string pull look and looks like it suppose to be eaten.
