I called to get a quote to refill tanks. They were a bit rude and impersonal. Okay, it's a large corporation and that is a norm. Well after numerous questions reflecting specifics I inquired as to why so many questions. The representative stated that the price is dependent upon demographics. I'm giving one star because it doesn't let me give zero. This company has ZERO customer service. We had an issue with a delivery 2 months ago and have yet to get a resolution. We ran out of gas completely and called for an emergency delivery. they gave us a 2 day window for delivery but delivered same day. we received an email that gas was delivered and a bill for $1500. They failed to communicate with us that they found a faulty regulator that was leaking gas and so they placed a lock on our tank. They also failed to tell us there was a lock AND failed to turn the gas all the way off. This culminated in the belief that we had an issue with our hot water heater, as the pilot light would light but not stay lit. we had 2 different plumbing companies come out and both thought this issue was with the hot water heater, as they could see SOME gas was coming through. Long story short, we ended up replacing a perfectly good hot water heater to the tune of $1000 in labor (luckily it was still under warranty). it was only after replacing this and SIX days of cold showers that we discovered the gas was the issue. we flagged down a tech that happened to be in our neighborhood and he looked at it and found the lock and faulty regulator, which he then repaired and restored our gas. For this we received an extra bill for $400. He wrote the whole thing up and HE recommended the company comp our whole delivery. since then we have called many times and been promised a reply in "3 days" each time. still no response 2 months later. Used to be a local business with a storefront for customers. When I signed up with them in 2016, I had the manager's name and phone number. Not any more- the building is locked up. My tank went completely empty (for the third time!) Their high tech sensors don't work - online, their website continues to tell me I have a tank that's 58% full. Well, it's apparently said that for months. Now, I sit and wait (and wait and wait). Their promise times are just lies. You cannot call the local number anymore - every call gets routed to a call center in Kenya or India (I asked). About to start day #3 without hot water. You don't know who you are dealing with because "customer lack of support" is beyond a particular location. You will be on hold for an hour when you call. If you do finally get a human voice, you will get someone who either cannot help you or will quote something ridiculous. Don't bother with any on line communication. This company is trash. When you call the number it sounds like somewhere overseas who barely speak or understand English so you have to repeat several times. Not only that apparently they were having a work party so all you hear is a bunch of yelling in the background while you're trying to communicate to get service. I had did an exchange propane tank for my gas grill and boiler as I was entertaining guests on Saturday. I did the exchange at the Fruit Cove Walmart grocery store. Well the new tank was full but did not dispense. My other tanks had no problem with the grill or boiler. So on Sunday I went back to the location to get one that worked. There was a problem with the vending machine and I could not get it there. The CSR told me to go to another location 30 minutes away. No discount offered. So I have now wasted an hour of my time and gas for them putting a defective product in the vending machine. They should at a minimum send me a coupon for a free tank. Total BS!! That time and gas cost me much more than a $20 tank of propane. Never again! read more

I would love to give Amerigas a 0-star rating because they did not show up for 4 appointments I had scheduled, making me take time off of work. They lied to me and then when they did finally show. I am paying over $800 for the service that took them 5 minutes to disconnect and connect. They are horrible and need better customer service. They also need someone local to speak to as any number you reach seems to be in the Philippines and they are nice but have access to nothing but scheduling which does not work out. Then when I tried to dispute my charges, they only told me to call someone else. I spent 2 days trying to reach someone to dispute charges and never did reach anyone. it is directed out of the country. You can not reach anyone local. I have never received such poor customer service, especially in light of a health and safety concern. We requested an urgent delivery of propane. We paid the $300 additional fee for next day service. Each follow up call (there were over 20, we have a log), we were ensured that the truck was en route. Meanwhile, we have an empty propane tank so no heat in freezing temperatures or hot water. The morning of Day 4, we were told that we would be the first delivery. Day 5 we called to cancel and received pushback because the truck was en route. Spoiler alert - it wasn't. We are still without propane and my son has missed 2 days of work. We are supposed to be refunded by check our deposit which was charged via credit card. Like the other reviewers, I would give Amerigas zero stars if I could. What a horribly run company. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. They will give you the run around and they have all sorts of service fees. I purchased a home with a tank already in the ground. I didn't have plans to use it so I called to have it capped; also the former person on the account is deceased. They explained that they had received the death certificate and they could come and lock out the tank. That never happened. I had to start up a new service with them for them to even speak with me. I had been hung up on a least a dozen times in the process. For them to come out to perform a site survey they want $70. They want a credit card on file or a net 30 terms and have to perform a soft credit check; which isn't a problem but they just seem all about the money and not about helping a consumer. After receiving the horrible phone service and the run around I think I will have the tank removed. I had no plans to use it anyway. In my mind, they are liars and thieves. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. We ran out of Propane on December 4th. Have gotten the run around for 6 WEEKS. First, the tank was no good, so they brought a "temporary tank" and then they destroyed our grass putting in a new permanent tank with the wrong sized lid. Now.... on January 17th. We are STILL waiting for it to be filled. They are rude and unresponsive. This is the second time we have run out and they are the worst company we have ever dealt with. read more

This company is horrible - I highly recommend that you DO NOT use them. I had a billing problem (they were paid twice for the same services) and they NEVER refunded me the money. I called 6 times, spoke to 6 different people and no one was able to solve the issue. In my opinion they should be reported to the better business bureau. read more

Been a customer since 2006 tried to get a tank fill up before the possible hurricane since my tank is at 19 %. And rely on propane to run my whole house generator if I lose power. They told me sorry no can do. Not there when you need them. read more

Amerigas has absolutely no local customer service. Their billing department is offshore. I waited 40 minutes to speak to someone to resolve my concerns. That took 19 minutes. We have had Amerigas or it's predecessor for 20 years. Last year they told us we would have to call if we needed gas; they would automatically stop. There was'nt a gage on our tank, so I asked how we would know when to call. He said they figured November would be a good time. I told the gentleman we would use up the rest of the gas, but if they wanted our business they would have to replace the rusted old tank. We had already requested a new one when our HOA asked us to do so. He wouldn't promise the replacement so I told him we would not renew after the gas was gone. The man did not seem to. care. We were small fish to him. In September we received a huge bill for almost $200.00 for rent on the old busted tank. I called and advised I would be looking elsewhere for my propane. A warning if you are using AmeriGas for your propane. We are a Family that is an automatic delivery in the last four months they have forgotten to deliver our gas twice. In both circumstances, we ran out of gas when you were running out of gas, it creates a very strong smell in your house and around your home, which is very concerning when you have children. additionally, this requires you to be home to accept the delivery in person because they have to work with you to reignite your propane, tanks and furnace. I do not recommend them we place an emergency call over the weekend and the woman was incredibly rude. Find someone else for your gas and propane. read more

After wanting a gas stove for years in Florida, I renovated my kitchen and with the help of AmeriGas was able to make my dream kitchen a reality. From my first phone call to the install every person at AmeriGas went over and above my expectations. When dealing with construction the majority of workers were late or didn't show up at all, not the case with AmeriGas. They are courteous, professional and kind. DO NOT USE this company!!! Amerigas is not a "local" company. All service calls are routed overseas. After having a tank for 20+ years I had an emergency with an empty tank. I was told it would be an additional $200-300 for 72 hour service. I did not want to pay that so we waited for regular service. After a week we still had not had a delivery, so we switched gas suppliers. Now Amerigas is charging me $149 to pick up an empty, 20 year old tank that I have been paying to lease for 20 years and I'm sure it will be disposed of. I got a larger, less expensive new tank from Courtesy Gas! read more

This has to be the worst service company ever! I have been attempting to get my tank replaced and filled for over a month and all I get is the run around, they don't talk to each other, the schedule appointments and don't honor them. They tell you that you are on the schedule and you are not. The local Jacksonville office doesn't even bother to answer calls. I have had to call the headquarter office to get someone on the phone.
