Amerigas is a dependable gas company until we get inclement weather it takes forever to get a delivery. I called to ask an increase on the gallons of my delivery after waiting over a week for a delivery since we were down to 4% because we had 2 winter storms back to back. they said we would have an addition 9 days for the delivery because we added an extra 50 gallons , which may no sense! why 9 more days to do something that he's here for in the First place!! read more

My mother is 84 years old. She has been calling Amerigas since December 2025 to deliver gas. It is February 2026 and she still has no gas and no heat. Their response? Don't you have other heating sources? She shouldn't need other heating sources when she is on automatic delivery and the company is not supposed to let it get below 25%. Her gas is so low, the furnace will not turn on and heat her house. She is unable to keep running the furnace due to potential damage to the furnace which would be an additional cost that, as a senior, she cannot afford. Every day she calls, they say, something slick, then say it will be delivered tomorrow. Well tomorrow still hasn't come. They delivered her neighbors gas on Sunday, who did not need any, but did not deliver her any. I see where they have been rated a "trustworthy company" but they are not by any means. One Star is waaay too many for this band of crooks ! The atrocities they have committed upon me are too numerous to list BUT include placing a 'No Fill' order on my tank, WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME, because 'their' foundation had shifted and the tank was not level. I found out the HARD WAY when the gas ran out in February in below-zero temperatures. When I called them they said they could not fix their foundation because the tank was FROZEN to the ground ... well it WASN"T when they filled it in October. They further informed me that even if they COULD fill it they would need FOURTEEN DAYS to schedule it and I would have to pay a PREMIUM fee. When I told them that 'my pipes will freeze and burst' at those temperatures within days, and I would not even be able to stay in my house IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I had to get local EMERGENCY SERVICES involved and two days later, you guessed it, they put 450 gallons in the tank with NO PROBLEM ! This summer I poured a concrete pad and called a 'new provider' who came and installed an actually 'painted' tank on the pad and hooked it up. When I called them and went through their telephone pick puzzle I was put on 'forever' hold an operator finally picked up and let me know their would be a $ 419.00 (minimum) REMOVAL FEE for getting their tank off of my property ( I was told I had agreed to this in their contract but I have NEVER signed ANYTHING with them since they 'took over' my service from LEVEL when they went bankrupt ! They already have $ 500.00 of MY MONEY for a pre-buy so I can Kiss That Goodbye otherwise I wouldn't give them ONE THIN DIME ! DO NOT fall for their low priced 'first fill' because after that you will pay WAY MORE then the competition. Consider this warning from a 'long term' customer when making your decision and enter into a contract with them AT YOUR OWN RISK ! read more

AmeriGas has been our propane service since we moved into our house in 2006. We didn't choose them, it was established with the previous owner so we continued to use them. Usually, with no problems. However, a female delivery person comes out to fill the tank and decides the tank is rusty and crooked and that we need a new tank. Now, let me state that we NEVER get a phone call when someone comes for any service. This chick didn't even attempt to make sure the info on our account was ok and just drove off. Friday 10/13 I have major surgery and come home to recover. Monday someone comes to install the new tank and says someone else will be by the next day. The next day no one shows up so around 2pm I call to find out what's happening. They have no record of the tank even being installed! I said your rep came yesterday and he said you'd be back today to fill the tank. Well, we can put in an order... I stopped him and said I never asked for this tank. You never called to find out if this day is good. This must be filled immediately. It's an emergency. This person couldn't confirm it would be done immediately so I spoke to his supervisor who said he would make it an emergency order. At 2pm the next day, I call for an update because of course, no one has shown up, but they say I am on schedule. At 5.29pm, having been on the phone with 2 reps again for almost 30 minutes and they still say it's in "emergency" delivery. I can't tell you how many times I've told them that no one called me. No one confirmed that the date to install the new tank would be good. Because it wasn't good for us. If someone had called, I would have told them no because I'm recovering from major surgery!! I need my stove. I need to cook and have hot drinks and water. With an empty propane tank, I CANNOT DO ANY OF THAT. I was just assured that things would be done correctly and we should have our propane by today or tomorrow. Now you think it'll be done correctly?! No one would make sure anything is actually going to get done. No one would say, we'll call to let you know when we come. Apologies apologies apologies. That doesn't do me a bit of good without propane to heal, thrive, recover and survive!!! read more

The contracted customer service group cannot handle the amount of misrepresentation, even though they try their best. This company does not care and has to be in the toilet. Customer service is horrible. We moved into a house that already had Amerigas tanks for the heat. After a few weeks of runaround trying to get a gas delivery someone finally comes out and tells us they cannot fill the tank bc it's too close to the house and hvac. ok then. but the worst problem is the lack of interest in advising as to how to get the tank moved. if it's their tank, isn't it their responsibility to move it?!? instead we just have no propane and use space heaters. read more

OCTOBER 2022: I called a week before we were going to move into our house to set up service so that we would have it on the day we moved in. It's now 8 days since we have moved in.. meaning over 2 weeks since I first scheduled the appointment and we still have no gas at our house. I had someone call me yesterday at 4:30 whenever the appointment was supposed to be between 12 and 5 yesterday and because I didn't pick up and I tried calling back with no answer from them, they never came and now we still have to make another appointment so this will be our 3rd appointment trying to get our gas turned on. Also ironically the first piece of mail we received at our new house was a bill from them, I wish they would be as quick about actually giving a service as they were about mailing out a bill to us for something we haven't even gotten yet JANUARY 2023 UPDATE: Still sending bills saying I owe almost $300. I already paid the $180 for set up when the person finally showed up. I have emailed and called with no one giving me a straight answer and today received mail for a debt collector requesting the amount I've been trying to get straightened out since our service began. read more

The local people on the ground have always been great, but the backroom customer service has become abysmal. It used to be that if I ran out of LP (which was seldom then) I'd call the local location in Garner and they'd have a fill-up delivered that day. They won't even give out a local number now. Everything is centralized with a call service at some undisclosed location. They're really pushing for customers to pretty much perform their own customer service at the website. The problem is that the website is hit or miss on delivery times. I ran out of LP on Tuesday night, called early Wednesday a.m. They gave me a "24-72 hr delivery window" .. I called back and they said they had "escalated" my delivery which apparently means nothing. I was told I'd get a Thursday delivery... didn't happen. It's now Friday and they "think" they can deliver tomorrow (Saturday) , but who knows? This isn't just a local problem. We have had Amerigas for about 10 years, there use to be a local number and an office right down the road in Garner. I don't know when things changed and went downhill, but now that office in Garner is just a place where delivery drivers hang out, with customer service no longer there. Now you call an 800 number located who knows where, and the representatives have absolutely no clue. I just recently moved to another location in Garner and called Amerigas to close my account and remove the tank. I was told they don't remove the tank, just lock it out and wait for the new home owner to contact Amerigas. I waited and waited for a tech to come and lock it out. After a couple weeks I called back and asked why no one has come to lock it out. I was told that request was cancelled because that's not how they do it in this area. Evidently they just sit back and wait for the new home owner to call them, verify what is still in the tank and charge them for what's still in the tank and credit me. I asked to just have it returned and they want to charge me over $300 to return THEIR tank! if I just want the credit for propane that's still in the tank, they want over $200 for a tech to come out and get a reading. Basically Amerigas is in my opinion running a scam to get as MUCH money as they can out of you. They could care less how long you have been a customer. Well Amerigas, I just moved into a New Home with a propane Fireplace, and you sure aren't getting my business ever again. Stay far, far away from them! read more

We have been AmeriGas customers for 32 years and all in all customer service has been excellent until recently. I think it was when AmeriGas closed all local offices. I scheduled a propane delivery on January 6th. The delivery was to be made by January 20th at the latest. It was not made on the 20th..or the 22nd, or 23rd, or 26th or today as promised. We have now been out of propane, and thus without heat or hot water for two weeks. Yesterday I talked to a customer service rep named Calvin who assured me we were on the list for today. I received a call from a driver while I was at work to verify address & location of propane tank. I told him I wasn't home, but he was at our driveway and did not indicate that was a problem. Shortly thereafter my husband received a text (at a different phone number) saying driver was unable to make the delivery because there was no one there to assist! We have never had to be home when propane was delivered. I called the driver back and left voice mail. There is nothing different about access to the tank. At the end of the day, gas has not been delivered but I can tell someone was there because the lid on the tank was left open. The driver did not call me back to let me know there was a problem. I tried to call him later and apparently he has blocked my number. We are in a dire situation. I'm on hold with AmeriGas right now. I called earlier this evening, was on hold about 30 minutes, finally spoke to someone & explained my situation, she put me on hold again and then after about 20 minutes I got automated message to "Please hang up and try again later" and call was ended! Seriously, what do we have to do to get gas delivered? I guess I will be looking for another propane company on Monday. read more

We use propane gas for cooking and the fireplace We are set up for automatic refill of our propane tank and it was scheduled for refill on of Jan 3. It did not happen. We called on Jan 23 and we're told the would expedite delivery within 24-48 hours on an emergency basis. It did not happen. We called on 25th and we're told delivery we were scheduled delivery on 26h. Asked to speak to supervisor and was told we would get a call back within 24 hours. It did not happen. We called on 26th and we're told truck was en route. Delivery did not happen. Asked to speak to supervisor again after being placed on hold for extended amount of time. We're told by agent (not the supervisor) that supervisor will expedite delivery tomorrow. Not counting on it. Will plan to file complaint with the Better Business Bureau as of tomorrow. Actually negative stars are more accurate for this company. Paid 288.00 on October 13 for propane. Called the company on 10-24 to check on delivery and was told delivery was on 10-22 at 2:14 pm. Told their rep that my rank reading was still 20% and there was no delivery ticket left. He emailed me a copy of ticket where it stated my tank gauge read 50% before delivery and now read 80 %. I told him I have one appliance that runs on propane and its an on demand hot water heater. Explained if my tank read 50 % that I wouldnt have scheduled a delivery cause 50% will last me 6 months. He scheduled a service call to check tank and gause, I told him I need to know if my gause is messed up but I didnt think so cause I get propane approximately every 8 months and its now 7.5 months. I called back on 10-28 to check on when service call would be made and was told no service call was scheduled. I have since scheduled 3 service calls , the latest on 11-2, nobody has come out or called. I am a new customer to Amerigas. I ordered propane for delivery on 02/12 and was told that they guarantee a 10-14 day delivery. I had indicated that my tank was at 25% and how many gallons it held. I figure they "knew" what they were doing since, after all, they are the experts. I started calling them around the 10 day mark to let them know that our tank was below 10%. They then told me they would expedite the order and I was scheduled for delivery around 11am on Thursday(13 days after order was placed). The delivery never showed up and so I called again. I explained that my tank was at 3% capacity and that I had turned the heat off to prevent the tank from running completely empty. Customer service explained that "routes change" and that I wasn't even on the delivery list for the following day.... So here I sit, a new customer 15 days later, with my fiancé and dog in a house that is now 48 degrees because a "route was changed". If this is how they treat their new customers, imagine how they treat the rest. By the way, I am still not on their delivery list. read more

Amerigas Scam Alert: Amerigas in Franklin County NC has advertised a $199 per gallon LP gas program for new customers. What they did to me is send out a person to do a "Safety Inspection" in order to provide new service. The cost is $437.50 for the inspection. My home is one year old and passed a Franklin County inspector's inspection, however the Amerigas inspector said there was two safety violations on the regulator. They could not provide the actual Franklin County code violation that they claim is in need of repair. When I asked the company that installed the regulator, they site that the regulator is in safety code compliance. This is a SCAM by Amerigas to generate repair revenue. After over 10 calls in a month, no one at Amerigas can quote the safety violation. read more
