The gyro here is legit--carved from the spit, flavorful, and exactly what you'd expect if you grew up in the 708/312/630/847. Honestly, it's the closest thing I've found in the area to that classic Chicago fast-food experience. Their burgers and Philly cheesesteaks also look solid, and I'll definitely be working my way through the menu. I'll gladly go out of my way for this place whenever I'm craving a real-deal gyro like I used to get back home. The only thing missing? Throughout the visit, the staff seemed far more interested in talking amongst themselves than actually paying attention to guests. The overall atmosphere felt disorganized, inattentive, and unprofessional. The worst part came after we left. I realized almost immediately that I had left my wallet behind and called right away. Instead of any sense of urgency or willingness to help, the host who answered was incredibly rude and dismissive. Before I could fully explain the situation, she cut me off and told me to "call back tomorrow." When I tried to quickly describe the wallet--color, contents, anything that might help--she hung up on me mid-sentence. Considering I called almost immediately after leaving and was brushed off so quickly, it raises serious concerns about whether any real effort was made to locate it. I would hope any establishment would take something like that seriously. Between the lack of attention, the disorganization, and the way a simple, time-sensitive situation was handled, this place clearly has serious issues with customer service. I won't be back.

This is the worse place to call to have any appliance repaired. I just moved to Clayton NC and needed new appliances so I figured I would start giving my business to the smaller stores instead of the big box stores. Big Bad mistake. I purchased a Refrigerator, Washer and Drier at Garner appliance in Garner NC. Another mistake. The refrigerator stopped cooling, the freezer still worked and still had ice cubes. They called Hopkins Appliance and one of there so called want to be repair techs. He came over and said it needed a in line filter. They ordered it and another so called want to be techs came over and installed a different part instead and I didn't know that's what he did, he then left and now I had no refrigerator or freezer and all ice melted and large puddle on floor. I called Hopkins and they came over checked it out again and said of the compressor is bad. We need a new one. I knew it didn't because if it did the freezer wouldn't be working before and I would have had ice. They then installed the compressor (glad I wasn't paying for all this misdiagnosis, Frigidaire was) after installing compressor, guess what, it still wasn't working. He turns to me and said, Sorry but I don't know what's wrong with it. I will tell Garner Appliance they will have to replace it for you under warrantee and that we don't know what's wrong with it. I get in touch with Garner Appliance and they tell me they can either refund my money because they can't get the same refrigerator or pay another $500.00 to upgrade to the next one. It looks almost the same just a few more features which we didn't need. We paid the $500.00 because I needed a refrigerator because of taking care of my 3 year old granddaughter at the time. Lowes or any big box store have swapped it out at no charge but not Garner. We spent a lot of money there. Not anymore. I gave them a 1 star mainly because there were no negative numbers read more

Keven Estes at Garner Appliances, located on Capital Blvd, provided exceptional service as our salesperson during our renovation last year. He thoroughly explained the features of each appliance without attempting to sell us the most expensive options, ensuring that we remained within our budget. Our primary concern was the functionality of the appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove) rather than brand names. I had reservations about induction cooking, but Keven patiently addressed my concerns, even discussing them again with my husband when he visited for a final review before our purchase. We ultimately chose induction and are satisfied with our decision. While searching for a new stackable washer/dryer, I found the same Electrolux model on sale at Lowe's for approximately $150 less than Garner Appliances. Upon informing Keven, he promptly matched the price without any complications, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to secure our business. Approximately one year later, we discovered that the washer and dryer doors could be adjusted to open in either direction. Keven personally visited our home and made the adjustment at no cost, saving us the $180 service call fee. Based on this experience, I highly recommend Garner Appliances, and specifically Keven, for their customer-centric approach and expertise. This endorsement is voluntary; I am a genuine customer with a real budget, appreciative of local businesses that prioritize knowledgeable and courteous service. If you visit Garner Appliances, please convey my regards to Keven from Catherine Joyner. read more

You can shop forever and save a buck. Me, I want good advice on what to buy, great follow up service on the products I purchase and I want to work with a hometown business. Garner Appliance & Mattress does all of those and more. Nothing built by human hands is perfect, so when an appliance I purchased through Garner A&M needed service, one call to Jennifer and suddenly I had someone working with and for me to solve the problem with the manufacturer. Too often folks want to blame the last guy in line for everything wrong with their life, but when they have a legitimate problem at Garner, they have an advocate working to solve these problems as the manufacturer permits. You don't get that at a big box store anywhere. Always had great experiences with these folks! read more

Oh my goodness. Another low score for a local company…read more... Aughh. Where to begin? My sweetheart, the right Reverend Robin R., called around to find a contractor that would deliver enough rock to line our culvert (for a reasonable price). She did *not* go with the lowest bidder. (She's WAY too environmentally sensitive to do that). She went with the company that would leave the smallest carbon footprint, Mellott Contractors of Carrboro, NC. So what if it would cost $20 more than the lowest bidder? The environment is important, and we should all be good stewards... right? She spoke with Chris. Together, they came to the determination that we'd need "Class B" rip-rap: rock which is roughly 5-12 inches in diameter. She told him we'd need enough rock to cover 600 square feet in the culvert alongside our yard. Please remember that number, 600 square feet. When the day came, Robin was ready. She'd hired a crew of three men to spread the six tons of rock over the 600 square feet of culvert. I love her attention to detail. The problem is, the amount of rock delivered wasn't even CLOSE to what we needed. She protested. They contested. I demur. After spreading the rock across our ditch, Robin and the crew realized there wasn't nearly enough rock. Ever the problem solver, Robin had the workers cannibalize enough rock from other sites around our yard to make up some (and I stress, SOME, of the deficit.) They complied. We paid. And the job was left undone, really. (At least, according to what we'd wanted.) After I got home to a clearly unhappy Robin, we went out and remeasured. (I am, after all, a middle school science teacher, who is always chiding his students about the importance of measuring carefully.) The ditch that we wanted to cover was, in fact, only 525 square feet, not 600. So there should have been a fair amount left over... not the other way around. So what happened? Why was our rock delivery off by a whopping 15%? (If you compare the square footage we needed with what we asked for - 525 vs. 600, which turned out to be not nearly enough, we came out with an 'underage' of 15%) Robin called Chris, who assured her that their scales were checked WEEKLY by the state. That being said, why the discrepancy? Haven't the fine folks at Mellott been in business long enough to understand how much Class B rip-rap is needed to cover 600 square feet? Shouldn't they be the experts we homeowners defer to? Apparently not. Chris didn't want to haggle or discuss the reasons for our obvious shortcomings as mere customers. Let me be clear - another vendor had also stated that six tons would be plenty to cover that area as desired - so again, what happened? Did we REALLY get the six tons we paid for? Chris told Robin he would sell us more rock, plus delivery charges, but would "withhold" the "fuel adjustment cost." REALLY?!? He would not inflate the cost beyond the normal price gouging? Personally, I'm appalled. Robin really wanted the yard done, and opted to go with ordering another two tons. It has since been delivered, and Robin (bless her heart) managed to put it all in place by herself - without having to rehire the muscle to heave it into place. (Her arms are getting really buff!) The bottom line is, instead of an extra $20 to assuage our environmental conscience, we're out an extra $200, AND this job caused twice as much truck exhaust to be spewed into the atmosphere as should have been. Personally, I'm not pleased. What would you do?
