I was here recently with the company I work with attending the SC25 Super Computing show. It's an older convention center with some modern amenities but could use an upgrade. Not many places connected to it to eat at except for a small coffee shop, so we had to find places within a few blocks to walk to. I have worked car shows, attended football games, home shows, and concerts. I have been in private boxes and regular seats. Mrs. K. her sister and I attended the Rolling Stones concert this past Sunday 9/26/2021. While not the best venue for a concert it did very well with the Rolling Stones. The "Dome" is in the Middle of downtown St. Louis. Parking can be an issue and very expensive. With a moderate walk of 10 mins or so to the venue. After the concert walking out can make you feel you are in a cattle drive all being herded down the ramps. This is normal at any large venue and there was a lot of "mellow" people leaving the concert. Due to CV19 and an indoor venue a mask was required. I have no problem with this. It is not like when the concert starts there will be mask enforcers. If you choose to keep the mask on you can if you choose to take it off you can. I mean think about any concert and how much dope is smoked and nothing happens. read more

This place is huge! We were there for a Volleyball Tournament in February. The halls were always warm and plenty of seating, bathrooms and eating places. Plenty of couches with outlets available as well. read more

If you have two thousands people and need a lot rooms for classes, this is the place in St. Louis. I was here for a national steel conference. And the facility is perfect to accommodate so many people. The exhibition hall is big to fit the steel cutting machine, demonstration and more with indoor hall. There also room to accommodate lunch and cocktails for many people. The hallway is wide with minimum 30 to 40 feet for registration, walking. Bathrooms can be found in many corner of the center for convenient. The entrance has two locations with drive by drop off. One at the back of 7th street and the other at the other is at Washington Avenue. read more

Attended a tech conference here and can say it was an enjoyable time. I guess you either love or hate conference centers, this one left me with an above average feeling after spending all week in it. While semi large, it's easy to navigate, lots of clean restrooms, and some food options. Being downtown food should not be a concern to be honest as you are steps away from many tasty restaurants. I cannot comment on parking, so please take that into consideration as my AirBnB was blocks away so there was no need for driving really. Transportation is easy to the conference center since it is smack dab downtown near many other attractions, so the train, bus lines, and taxis/ride shares are readily available. Short and sweet, a good experience for a week long work event. read more

I attended a large tourism conference at America's Center this summer and left impressed with the event space. It has large, cavernous rooms ideal for keynotes with thousands of attendees and smaller breakout rooms that can host 50-100 guests. Restrooms are clean, easy to find and even have cool phone holders in the stall - first time I've ever seen that feature! Beyond anything else, I was impressed with the hospitality displayed by the America's Center and Explore St. Louis staff. There was always someone nearby to point you in the right direction or answer your question. My only complaints are the rooms were quite chilly (as they are at most conferences, so bring a sweater) and the breakfast provided was lackluster (oatmeal and yogurt only). Otherwise, I had a good experience here. read more

Nice place for a conference. It's HUGE and has so many breakout rooms. I was there with about 3,500 people for a conference in October and had a blast! The staff were all helpful and friendly; they always opened the doors for us which I thought was really nice. The rooms ranged in sizes to accommodate 10 people or hundreds of people so it was great for our event. The location is right in the center of downtown so that attendees can walk around to local restaurants and bars. Parking isn't attached, but I found a lot on 9th that was a $5 a day lot which was nice. I attended an event that was held at this conference center recently and overall had a pretty good experience. Ample space. Never too crowded (easy to flow people around). Lots of hotels around for convenient rates. Easily walkable. What didn't jive with me? Au Bon Pain was never open, except on the last day (Friday) for a few hours. I would have appreciated it being open because the food the Center caters is NASTY. Horrible. I think I lost weight during my trip... and that never happens because I love to eat when I travel. Seriously. Can they please bring in a legitimate good catering company here? Egh. There is a helpful restaurant concierge right inside the entrance, which is pretty handy. read more

I attended a work conference at America's Center and was impressed with how huge the space is! There were probably 2,500 people at the conference and I never felt too crowded or packed in. Some of the smaller conference rooms filled up but the main room (220) was huge! The restrooms were all immaculately clean and signage was pretty good. They have a concierge desk for finding things to do and restaurants to check out which was nice for out of towners. There's a hotel right across the street which makes this a super convenient place. I liked the lounge areas, couches, and comfortable seating throughout the center. I found some of the rooms to be quite warm, and other reviews say it was cold so layering is a good idea! There were not enough coat racks for all the coats but we managed to find some space up top. The wifi was fast and reliable the whole time we were there. This place is huge! There is a cafe that serves sandwiches, coffee, pop, etc. Keep in mind a 20 ounce pop costs $3.75. There's a wireless signal and the rooms aren't anything fancy but they are comfortable. There's a parking garage across the street and it costs $1 per half hour or $12 a day (as of 10/2010) If you are staying at the Renaissance you are right across the street from America's Center. read more

Here for a convention and staying at the Marriott hotel across the street. This venue was great. Nice comfortable facility clean and in good repair. Lots of glass and good light. Elevators and escalators were great for those not wanting to climb stairs all day.the staff was great, helping with directions and preparing rooms for different functions. Huge convention center. America's boasts some great facilities and equally great staff. I was in town for a conference of 16,000+ people, and they did a phenomenal job of accommodating us. It's right in the heart of downtown St. Louis, and there's plenty of food options nearby. As far as hotel options go, the Renaissance Grand is one of the better options due to its proximity. read more

I don't know why convention centers always feel so convention centery, but I suppose I can't really fault a creature for being what it is. The space is large and light filled, the bathrooms are well stocked with amenities. If you are coming to an even here, you might consider staying at the Renaissance Grand - it doesn't get much more convenient than directly across the street. read more

I recently attended a 4 1/2 day conference at the America's Center. The conference center was fairly easy to find, and there are a lot of parking lots close by. I myself parked each day at the Renaissance Hotel parking garage which was very convenient. The chairs in the various lecture rooms were comfortable, and sometimes they had tables set up, which was very nice as several people (including myself) were using laptops or netbooks. The AV equipment seemed good as many of the talks included video, etc. The lobby had a few comfortable couches as well as more tables and chairs set up. When they had coffee breaks, cookie breaks, box lunches, and/or breakfasts, the food ranged from average to good. The one day we were on our own for lunch, there were several restaurants just a few blocks away. I wavered between three and four stars, but the complimentary wireless internet pushed this review solidly in the four star range. There was a login page which verified that I was a registered conference participant, so I don't think it's just open to anyone. The conference center also had several internet terminals available if you didn't have your own computer with you, but I really enjoyed the convenience of the free wireless. read more

I spent the better part of last week attending the NRPA Conference at America's Center. And, well, it was adequate. It's definitely not the most modern conference center I've been in. The lighting is a bit harsh. There's fluorescent, life-sapping bulbs pretty much everywhere. The decor felt very dated and plain. And the food options were definitely lacking. However, the entire facility was clean, and kept up well. But staff attitudes definitely were not in the go-above-and-beyond category. There was an overwhelming feeling of "this is just a job, give me my paycheck" that I got from pretty much everyone I interacted with. I'm not in the conference and event planning business, but if I were, I don't think this would be my first choice. It'd work, and it's probably cheap, but there's not much to write home about, or in my case, writing about when I got home. read more

A perfectly nice convention center! There's a parking garage right night door and an open lot across the street. The building is relatively new and clean. I usually find these places confusing, but this place has signs everywhere that make it very easy to get around. And it's not as big as other convention centers I've been to, so that helps. There are bathrooms every where and there are usually quite a few places to purchase food. But most of these options are on the pricey side. read more

My wife and I attended the National Truck Driving Championships here and we were not disappointed. The place is beautiful and they did everything they could to make this a great event. Watching these professional drivers driving on a tight course inside of a stadium was awesome. Cons: frequently inaccessible, poor-quality wifi. Fewer electrical plugs than regional airports built in the 70s. Few/no refreshment options outside of basic catering. Available catering is poor. Stage for platform presentations in the ballroom is behind the screens, so presenters cannot use laser pointers to highlight slide content. Pros: excellent AV & telecommunications staff. Spacious rooms for break outs. Clean restrooms. Huge facility overall. Many hotel options nearby (though many get low reviews). This facility may be excellent for other types of events, but without improving wifi & access to power it's not a good fit for technical or business conferences. read more

been here about 15 times in my lifetime but just getting around to reviewing it this time. was here for the local annual car show, and while the show itself was disappointing, I found the center to be a rather nice place. we parked a few blocks away but that comes from living in the city and knowing how to maneuver around it. once we did get into the place, I found it rather nice, easy to get around the place, and the employees that were there working were extremely helpful in getting us to where we needed to purchase tickets. once we got into the convention area where the car show was at, it too was very pleasing on the eyes. the employees working the snack bars and car show floor were also very nice to deal with. read more

I have attended many conventions at America's Center or what many St Louisans still call the Jones Dome. First off, parking is a RIP OFF! But, so is parking in downtown or at any convention center I have been to across the country. As I am from St Louis and am familiar with the area, I usually park at Shady Jack's Biker Bar which is about away and just hoof it and I usually have a bite to eat afterwards (costs less than the dome and tastes better too). I don't remember the last time I parked in a lot near The Dome, but I do know that the lot across the street is $15. The price of a t-shirt, I'd rather get in a good fast walk than shell out $15 or more so I only walk a block. If you are lazy or fat, then spend you hard earner dollars on a stupid lot fee. As for me, I can walk. As others have said, the food is $$, $6 for a hot dog, $5 for fries and $5 for a 32 oz pop. You can get funnel cake here but it is $5 and a simple blueberry muffin had a shocker price of $4. The convention area is more than ample for whatever show or seminar is happening. The rooms in which smaller classes or seminars are conducted are not impressive, but their purpose is not to impress but for the purpose of speaking and they serve that purpose most well. The rooms and halls are well marked and well lit. The area itself is, mildly put, sketchy. You may desire extra care and an armory may be a good plan. Wear big boots and loose pants with an oversized shirt, so you can carry a few side arms, maybe a sawed off shotgun and several knives along with a few extra magazines in case the need arises to go all OK Corral to get back to your beloved Chevette or while waiting to board the Metrolink to assist in your escape. read more

Drab, lifeless dome, my least favorite place to see a concert, but what choice do you have when some of your must-see shows get booked there. You suck it up and deal with the painfully long concession lines, wet bathrooms, and if you have enough patience to wait in line, you might get lucky enough to buy a shitty $9 draft beer. They ran out of beer at last night's Guns n Roses concert, very poorly planned out. Unfortunately I'll be back for Beck/U2 in Sept., but now I know what to expect, which is not much! read more
