Very clean, cozy, and welcoming hostel! 10/10!…read more It's nice they have their own parking lot which is $10 from Thursday - Sunday. Outdoor hangout / seating area with a bbq grill! Hostel is very clean and well maintained. Walking distance to many things including the beach. They are dorms and private rooms. The kitchen has lots of cooking tools, fridge and pantry space and a "free" bin of food from past guests. It's nice they have free earplugs, a calendar of free events or nearby events. Large family style table by the tv and an area to casually hangout. Love the environmentally conscious awareness throughout. They had soaps and toiletries if you need it which is nice. The bed was comfortable and other guests very respectful of quiet hours. Bathroom and showers are in each room which is very nice and feels luxurious compared to other hostels. Overall a lovely family friendly hostel, great location, well decorated in plants and beautiful art. Starbucks and other food just walking distance.

Monterey Hostel…read morehas an ideal location in the heart of downtown and is just a few blocks away from the aquarium and Cannery Row. It has been beautifully renovated and was reopened by a non-profit to promote the hostel movement -- love the mission! Everything about the hostel is thoughtfully designed. Common spaces, including a communal kitchen, are clean, cozy, and welcoming. Guest rooms are all named after local cities and landmarks. I felt super safe as a female traveler and would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area. Thanks for making my short but sweet stay so welcoming!

We typically stay at traditional hotels like Marriott, Intercontinental or all-inclusive resorts…read morewhen we travel. My husband has been asking for a Bed and Breakfast, and I decided to indulge him. 2025 was not the best year for us due to an illness I was battling for over 6 months. Travel was not in the cards for us, however; a quick trip to Monterey from the Bay Area was just what we needed to reset and recharge. Tony greeted us with an infectious smile upon arrival, and we could feel the magic unfold. The hotel is very 50s style, and the aesthetic is chic, fun and bold. Make sure you check out the photography in the breakfast room. Each day, you are invited to a complimentary made-to-order breakfast. To say it's excellent, is an understatement. If you like popovers, this place is a gem. If you enjoy attentive service and very friendly folks that really just want you to relax, this is the place for you. Their coffee is spectacular as well, so load up on that rocket fuel! We were always offered treats like yummy baklava at the front desk, and it was very easy to obtain whatever we needed or wanted from the staff. Our room, albeit small was well appointed and the only 'inconvenience' was storing our huge suitcase under the bed. We loved the ability to open the windows and feel that beautiful, fresh ocean air which you can't really do in a high-rise hotel. Indecently, you can view the ocean from the rooftop which looks like an entertaining time during the warmer months. The time and care with the guests is beyond comparison. Tony is someone who belongs in hospitality. He has a warm, caring, genuine and kind. He really made our time in Monterey worthwhile. He's one of those folks who makes everything better just by being himself. Thank you so much Tony, we really loved our stay at Hotel 1110.

It is a 2-star hotel with a very high opinion of itself. 1. The bathroom toilet takes 15 minutes to refill after flushing. We became so frustrated that we resorted to manually filling it with water from the sink. 2. The listing specifically advertised a jacuzzi in the bathroom. It is out of order. It is just a standard shower and tub. 3. The furniture is extremely old. The glass cabinet is cracked and peeling in multiple places -- a genuine safety hazard. The bed is oversized for the room, making it feel uncomfortably cramped and claustrophobic. 4. The walls are poorly patched and have visible holes and cracks throughout. To make matters worse, we spotted a cockroach emerging from the wall. 5. The rooftop bar staff are polite, but the hotel staff are curt and unhelpful. Our reservation included breakfast, with the earliest seating at 8:00 AM. We had a hike scheduled before then and asked if we could take the food to go. The response was simply, "No breakfast for you." The following morning, we discovered the breakfast comes with numerous restrictions: no substitutions for dietary needs, and any modifications cost extra. The portions were so small that we had to eat a second breakfast elsewhere. What is the point of offering this at all? For $300 per night, this was a deeply disappointing experience. You are far better off booking a Marriott or Hilton.

It felt like we were inconveniencing her by having the audacity to check into our room. The room was small but that's fine, it's to be expected. Note that the walls are THIN AS CAN BE. I could hear the room next to us flush their toilet. I wish I was joking. The worst part was the shower head. The first day it was spraying a bit to the sides and got the bathroom floor a little wet. The second day all hell broke loose and the entire bathroom was soaked after a 5 minute shower. I had to wipe down the counter, the toilet, and the sink from all the shower water. I've never experienced anything like it. The "continental breakfast" is pathetic. Cold and tiny pastries and blueberry bagels. So expect to eat elsewhere for breakfast. I recommend Winston's around the corner (it's outstanding). The lady at the front desk the day we checked out and that I reported the shower leak to was very hospitable. To be honest, she was the only positive part of this entire experience. I'm just so disappointed in this place. I was really looking forward to our stay but it fell short in every way plus some. We enjoyed the fireplace as evenings in PG can be quite chilly. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and we loved the historical aspect of the Inn. There is a small parking lot on the property, but we chose to park on the street (it's free) because there was a space right in front of our cottage door. The staff is very friendly. The star was lost because of the poor breakfast. Cold bagels, no butter, tiny, tasteless cold pastries. Sad because the little breakfast room with its cozy seating is very inviting.

Our cockapoo took a step and it was as if she was walking on ice. I understand the reasoning: the ease of cleaning up accidents, pet hair and other hazards of being a pet friendly motel and not charging extra fee outweighs the luxury of carpet. We had to feed her on the bed and bring her water bowl to her. The location proved quiet and we were able to park our car right outside our room. Two complaints though: the faucet in the tub dripped, no matter what we did. California is experiencing a drought. The waste of water is troubling and should be addressed. Complaint number two: the beds were torturous. I can not recall ever being more uncomfortable. The floor might have been better. I have a suspicion they purchased enough frames for all room, beds for half the rooms, split them up and put mattresses in half the rooms, box springs in the others. We slept on box springs. They were very stiff, had no padding to speak of covering the surface and they were noisy. The pillows were nice - not too soft or hard and the bedding left a bit to be desired. A sheet, light blanket and thin bedspread would be fine for a location farther south. All in all, we give it a thumbs up: the location is great, Dennys across the street, Starbucks, donut shops and several restaurants within a few blocks that deliver with Doordash. The sore back every morning would make me think twice next time.

Upon arriving the very unfriendly man at the desk let me know that he couldn't find my reservation, in his experience that happens often when booking through third parties so I should call Chase to resolve the issue. Needless to say this was very frustrating, if he and other booking sites have issues it shouldn't be up to me to resolve this. The Chase travel hotline unfortunately had technical issues on their end and were not able to resolve the situation, they told me I had to pay out of pocket and they would have to start an investigation on their end to get a refund for the money I already paid. What was very surreal was the fact that in the Chase reservation the hotel appeared as "Vagabond Inn", but at the physical location it is a "Motel 6". The motel employee did not offer any explanation for this, when asking for a room that I would pay out-of-pocket he wanted to charge me more than double(!) what I already paid. I explained my situation and asked him if at least give me a room for the original price (please remember I already paid that money!), he got very rude. I called his behavior criminal and he immediately threatened to call the cops on me and told me to leave the property. I have never experienced such an awful treatment in a hotel, I don't really know what happened here and why two identical hotels are registered at the same address. I assume it's some sort of scam, I hope I see my money back.

My husband and I walked into the lobby to check in and everything in there felt sticky. There was also a sign that said the WHOLE Inn allowed smoking on the inside. My husband had to literally slam his body into the door to get it to open. The smoke smell was so intense I had a migraine within five minutes. The bed was a trendle bed and both my husband and I are big people, I put half my leg on the bed and it sank to the floor (don't worry I washed my clothes right after). The box spring was still covered in plastic. They judged me for reading what I was signing. The wifi came with a warning saying the page wasn't safe. There was also a cigarette in the AC unit. There was also cigarette marks on each piece of furniture and the shower had mold. I talked to my agent to cancel my stay here immediately. I had to pay for the first night which I understand from a business perspective. The second entrance to our room to grab our stuff, the owner had sprayed perfume to cover the smell. He also followed my husband into the room to beg us to stay and tried to put us in his "sister" hotel across the street. We didn't even bother. He pestered us for a while to beg us to stay but nah. I've stayed in shitty places before and I have my 2 requirements smoke free and big bed. This lied about both and I didn't trust the attendant to show us something we would like. Never stepping foot here again.

The top floor has a lovely event space with Bay & harbor views that include the Santa Lucia Mountain Range. Banquet food is meh... pretty presentation, but definitely prepared by a cook and not a chef. Beware the vegan/veg options as the cook just coats them in spices to mask the lack of cooking experience. Opt for the fish cuz it's Monterey.
