I asked Illini Home Improvements to insulate a room that is above our garage. This room was very…read morecold in the winter, and very hot in the summer. They came out and inspected what insulation I already had, and explained clearly why that insulation wasn't working. Basically, the builder had not insulated properly, either due to not knowing the proper way to insulate this type of room, or due to cutting corners. They explained to me what they would recommend, and why, and gave a firm estimate and time frame for when they could do the job. I agreed and their team showed up when they said they would, did the job, and cleaned up after themselves. They stuck to their quote even though the job took a significant amount more of insulation than expected. I was able to inspect their work via the attic, and they did exactly what they told me they would do. So far this room is warmer in the winter, but will never be as warm as the rest of the house due to being over a cold garage, and due to having inadequate heating vents. But at least the room is usable now and we can use a space heater as needed. My thanks to the team, and I'll call them again when I need something insulated. Note that despite the name of this company, they don't do EVERY kind of home improvement; this company specializes in weather-proofing/ insulation.

I was unhappy with the way the installer (his name was Chuck) handled the job. The screens were torn (not his fault), but instead of replacing them and coming back to finish the job as he said he would, he returned the broken screens to my porch about a month later with a note taped to it with a disconnected phone number. He didn't leave the packaging materials or instructions, so returning them to the company wasn't an option for me. I had to pay $90 for replacement parts, and Illini Home Improvement refused to accept responsibility for the job since the contractor was no longer employed with them. Frustrating to say the least and my doors are still not in working order.

We were told they would get to us, but it would be a couple of hours as there were a few jobs already ahead of us. They arrived in what we considered a very timely fashion, especially on a Saturday afternoon. They listened to what I explained as the issue, observed the clean out, and knew exactly what to do. They ran the auger approximately 100 feet and you could hear it breaking through the tree roots. Upon retracting the auger, the roots were very evident on the cable and the claw. The service guy was very friendly and explained what he was doing through the whole process. He was extremely willing to answer all my questions. We were expecting to pay $500-$600 for this kind of service on a weekend. I was very pleasantly surprised when he said it was $305. I would definitely recommend Schoonover Sewer Services and I would definitely use their services again if needed!

A Guy named Jake came out and he did OK but when I finally got the proposal he made an error on it. So I had to explain to to him what my Heat pump system was again which was not a variable speed as he figured but it is a 2 speed Trane 18. And I said I wanted to know what the furnace would cost (and the model number) and what the gas line would cost and what the air cleaner would cost separately broken down. He said his boss wouldn't do that. Well I never heard of such a thing. I've never dealt with people who won't tell you individual costs. That's wrong. You don't just bunch it up all together and say this is your deal. Every other HVAC company I have dealt with for this expensive 5 figure job has broken it all down and explained what the gas line would cost ...what the furnace would cost....and what the air cleaner would cost and a gas exhaust and intake and what my Mothers furnace would cost. So I found another company who has been very nice and professional and were more than willing to break all costs down like professionals and they are getting the job. I didn't even have to request them to do this. They just do it. So I do NOT recommend Kelso.

The technician arrived, goes into the laundry room and looks at the Whirlpool washing machine and tells me outright "we don't fix that issue" based only on my description of the problem. He didn't even touch the washer until he could see I was visibly annoyed. Later he looked at it for about 15 minutes and then told me it wasn't the suspension rods as he suspected (though "(we) won't repair those at all because they'll just break again in three months.") His estimate to repair the direct drive (motor? gears?) was $850. The washing machine didn't cost that much brand new. What made it even more frustrating was that he was on the phone with a technician asking about the washing machine WHILE looking at it. I don't think this guy is an appliance repair person, but perhaps some other trade? He then repeatedly informs me that Purcell sells washers and dryers. Yay. Next up he went to the kitchen to inspect the dishwasher. Once again I describe the issue to him (which we did when we set up the appointment) and tells me AGAIN without touching the dishwasher. "You need a new control board... the parts cost on those is $550." Once again, he didn't do anything except push the buttons on the control panel and looked at the dishwasher filter. And also once again, the PART COST is higher than the cost of the dishwasher. And again he tells me Purcell sells dishwashers too (just my luck!) and we can get $50 off if we buy one - because we paid $150 in service fees. What. A. Joke. This place sells appliances and is not affiliated with the previous owners of the repair service we had used in the past. They've been open for a year - selling appliances, but also offering the following services - and I quote: Heating and Cooling Commercial Refrigeration Electrical Repairs Cooktop repair Range installation Appliance repair Stove repair Dryer installation Freezer repair Grill repair Microwave repair Range hood repair Trash compactor repair Washer repair Appliance installation Range repair Stove installation Dishwasher repair Dryer repair Garbage disposal repair Ice maker repair Oven repair Refrigerator repair Vacuum repair I'm out $150 and this place is laughing all the way to the bank. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR AWAY from this "repair company." By the way - on separate reviews I've left this company, they keep telling me that the washer was used improperly - yes I'm sure it was overloaded. So they won't repair it because it was overloaded? We needed a repair, not a scolding from a company that wants to sell new appliances and NOT repair existing ones. I stand 100% by my review.
