One of the three had others around it and was pushing against the house. To remove the tree, Happy Green used a subcontractor, which is fine. He did not have the subcontractor do our reasonable and very executable crane request to protect our house, which is not fine. His bid was inadequately detailed on how work was to be done. (Beware!) I called, with another person listening in, to confirm expectations. I carefully discussed these expectations. I finished the conversation confident of a common understanding. I authorized work to proceed. At the time, I felt good. I am a disabled veteran supporting a veteran-owned business. This should be a good thing. The confirmation of expectations meant nothing here. We were completely surprised on the day the tree removal. Happy Green did not come back and tell us he had approved a scope of work not using a crane. The subcontractor had one, it was in good working order and very capable of the work. It was being used elsewhere. Bottom line, I recommend you do not even let him bid. There are many good companies to choose from. Tell Happy Green to go away.

After three days they begin sending you past-due notices, although they themselves take a week after the service to send the bill. Even worse is that they aren't capable of receiving modern payments like direct-deposit and they are slow at processing checks they receive. So I sent a check the day I received the invoice, told them that it was on the way (twice), and today, 9 days after the invoice was delivered to me, I got a notice that they are sending me to collections. We've been customers for 15+ years and I've been OK but not thrilled with the service, but they are cancelled now.
