This is a zero-traffic area of my porch, so there is no reason stones should be falling off. Upon reaching out to inquire about the warranty, as it has only been 2 years since the work was performed, and sharing several photos of the fallen stones, I was informed that they only warranty their work for 1 year. Well, thousands of dollars and only 2 years later, I did not expect for stones to independently fall off my house. Now, I have to pay another masonry company to fix Millikan's error. I wasn't home to see the cleaning performed, but when he told me it was done, I thanked him and mailed him a check. The next time it rained, I had the same water cascading over my gutters that had prompted me to hire him in the first place. I called him, and he sent someone out to address the issue. The next rain came and again the gutters overflowed. At this point, I got up on a 30' extension ladder myself and looked into the gutters. I discovered that half the gutters were cleaned to the bare metal, but half were completely untouched. The uncleaned portions were filled with more than an inch of composted leaf material and had saplings growing in them. I spent the next couple hours at the top of an uncomfortably high ladder cleaning them myself, completely defeating the purpose of paying someone else to do it. When I called Chris again to explain that I had discovered a significant portion of my gutters had not been cleaned, he didn't apologize or promise to make it right - he blamed me for not noticing sooner. I explained that I work for a living, didn't supervise his cleaning, and trusted that he had cleaned them when he said he did. I pointed out that to check his work, I would have had to get up on a 2-story extension ladder. I also told him that I eventually did that and cleaned the gutters myself. I've uploaded the photos I sent Chris of the uncleaned gutters. You see, the nature of this work is that it takes place outside the homeowner's view. Gutters are opaque, and from the ground a dirty gutter and a clean gutter look the same. As a homeowner, you exchange money for the contractor's representation that the job has been completed. It's a simple matter of trust. Because the workspace is 25' off the ground, the contractor can safely assume his work will never be checked by the homeowner. But I did check, and I know Chris Drewes did only half the job I paid him to do. He cheated me. Please don't let him cheat you.
