This review does not reflect the work of Ivy she is wonderful and always do a good job on my nails but unfortunately I will have to find a new nail tech because I refuse to step foot on American Nail Bar again. I took my husband to get a pedicure/manicure and he selected the pedicure with 10 minute massage. The nail tech applied hot stones to his neck/ back area, giving him second-degree burn. The owner/manager took no accountability for her employee. Her response was the lady works on commission and it's not employed by American Nail Bar. She also said the tech was not trained to work with hot stones so she is not sure why she would use hot stones on my husband's neck as they are not to be used on the neck or back area. The nail tech was very apologetic however, if she was not trained and on how/when to use them this is an error on the shop part. That proves they breached their duty of care, especially since he did not request stones. Due to the severity of the burn, I had to take my husband to the emergency room, which they confirmed second-degree burn. Pros- Nice friendly staff, attentive care, quick, free drink served with service, and loyalty program (Enter your number when paying and get points. After so many points you get a discount on a future service). Cons- False advertising on the "50% off Combo Service". The sign states that you can get 50% a second service if you come Monday- Thursday. But when I went in after work for a mani/pedi on a Thursday; they charged me full price and wouldn't honor the discount. They claim it is only honored before 3pm even though this is not expressed on any of their advertisements (see picture). I paid $117 plus a tip. I've gone here a few times in the past & they usually do a good job. However, I got my nails & toes done on Friday (today is Monday) and 2 nails have chipped.. I got gel on both. My toes had excess gel polish on the skin around my nails as if she didn't bother to clean them up. Honestly my nails look clunky & thick. Saturday my right hands pointer finger polish chipped half off. Today, Monday, I went in to get it fixed. (We're in from out of town, so I wanted to get it fixed before we left. Because we're visiting I haven't been in a kitchen to do dishes or any cleaning, so I'm not sure what activities I could've done to cause the chipping.) Pedicure- Technician cut my foot foot bled the entire time of service . Tech had to wrap and put a band aid on....to com the process. This place is usually o-k, but disappointing customer service today. I got a manicure and opted for a buff instead of polish. Once she started the buff I realized they don't even use the buffing paste or buffing drill bit, just the same buffing sponge they use to prep you nails for any other service. Needless to say I was disappointed with the result, there is no shine at all. I figured I wouldn't dwell on it... until I checked out and there was an up charge for the buff that wasn't a real buff and the manager says he doesn't set the rules and can't adjust the price. The 2 nail techs I always use are not in Cedar Hill,  but I needed something close. I ended up going to American Nail Bar this afternoon, and I had a terrible experience.  The nail tech I had was really nice. But she cut my pinky finger and it started bleeding. (It's still sore ) I didn't say a word. The polish was definitely laden with polish thinner because it was so thin she had to do 4 coats.  I didn't say a word. When I arrived at check out, they charged me an $5 extra because I had the nail tech use a different color on my ring finger so they charged me for 2 polish colors.  They have a very detailed menu on the counter when you check in and you complete a very detailed service form before your service. Neither listed the $5. When I spoke to the manager,  he said "I told you when we talked about color".   I never discussed pricing or color with him. The price was listed and I gave my color choices to the nail tech.  The only thing I had discussed with the manager was the wait because he told me 15 minutes but I ended up sitting alone waiting on the Nail tech for an additional 7 minutes. I wasn't even bothered by that because I know sometimes things take longer than expected.   However, I will never return. If you go be sure to discuss pricing in advance. Getting my finger cut, using thinned out polish, and having the manager charge me extra then lie to my face about a discussion I never had with him is a one time experience for me. I told him I would write a review and he told me to go ahead.  I should have known there would be a bait and switch when I noticed top shelf liquor displayed on the shelves but saw them use a very inexpensive brand that I've never heard of to make the drinks. read more

First time coming in here and after just leaving a nail salon that rudely refused to my nails for no reason (Top Nails & Spa in Cedar Hill) Customer service is on point. Scott, which I believe to be the owner or one of the owners, is so attentive. You do not see him sit down at all and always asking people if they wanted a refill. They have a FULL bar in their salon (Long Island iced tea, screwdriver, rum & coke, etc) and also have non-alcoholic drinks like water, soda, and delicious matcha tea. Did I say it was all FREE?! Haha! Kim was my nail tech. I got dip with added tip. I really wanted to get ombré but being it was my first time here, I didn't want to give a super difficult design and base my experience off that. They have only been open 5 months after all. She was really attentive. Although she didn't speak English that well, she listened to my concerns with my nails. My right hand turned out really good but my left hand I felt like looked nothing like the right (shape and length.) The reason for the 4 stars is for that reason and I also felt that she was rushing through the whole time. First time coming here after going to cedar hill nails, and all I can say is I'm so happy I made the change. Ivy was the one who did my pedicure and she was the bomb. So nice, her massage was amazing I'm someone who prefers alittle bit of hard pressure and she did it automatically but periodically checking in to make sure it wasn't too rough. When my water got cold she added some fresh hot water without me even having to tell her. She took her time painting my nails and cleaned up the edges really nice. They use disposable products so no ones uses the same nail filer etc. the building was extremely clean. Also love that they have a full bar. Will absolutely be my new spot and I will be asking for IVY every time. They was she provided customer service and explained everything honestly would've thought she was the owner. I visited the nail shop yesterday and received service from Becky. I was told she was the best nail technician at the shop. She greeted me as a new customer and offered suggestions on my color selection. However when I questioned the color wasn't what I expected Becky became irritated. She quickly stated "you picked the color". She walked away speaking in her "foreign language", which is offensive especially when someone is displaying frustration. As a "paying"customer I have the right to change my mind and make changes. However she was adamant to let me know you will pay for changing and then went back to speaking in her language. What happened to "customer service"? Why display an ugly attitude because a customer makes an inquiry as if I'm inconveniencing you even though I'm paying you for a service? I shared my concerns with the manager, Scott. He said he will address with her; however offered no apology Which let me know you really don't appreciate the customer or care about the customer experience. I want to express that I did not appreciate the lack of service or lack of respect that I received. I will not patronize this business ever again. Thankfully, there are many options to choose from. Every time we go here there is at least one rude person one of us get. But today was the worst! Me, my mom, three of my daughters and my granddaughter went to get our nails done and the lady that done my 6 yr old granddaughter done great. But! The lady that done my 10 yr old daughters nails and toes, named Cindy, was extremely mean and rough with her. I receive the worst customer service here that I have ever had in my life at any nail salon. Scott the salon manager was very rude to me once I bought up the situation with one of the nail tech who had done my "pedicure". I had sat in my chair for about 15min handed a drink and was done with a pedicure that at 15 maybe 20min was supposed to last from 30-45 min per Scott the salon manger said to me. Now if I had paid for just polish I understand the 15min service but this cost me $65! He was immediately defensive and asked why did I tip? Which was fair but honestly I was in shocked still and didn't want to cause a sense being it was my FIRST time there also other clients including my sister and cousin who were there for a full set. I went to the car and called the front and Scott was not accommodating when I explained that I was very unhappy about the experience. I asked for the owner name and said I would give them a call mind everyone I RESPECTIVELY didn't want to cause a sense in the place of business so I choose to call instead. This man tells me to call the police because there's nothing he won't do and he won't give a refund! I never asked for a refund just and apologize maybe a gift card to accommodate for the service I did not received which he validated himself. Other techs there thought the nail tech and Scott was wrong and handled the situation poorly. I never raised my voice or used vulgar language towards anyone there, I felt intimidated by him because his demeanor was so cold and basically like so what you gonna do about it? Really wished things were handled differently. I attended the Grand Opening on 4/23/19 a d was very impressed with their services. When I 1st walked in, I was given a business card with a number, the First 50 customers played $10 for dipped nails (value $35). I was then asked to choose the color I wanted for my dipped nails and pedicure. I was invited to help myself to some food while waited for my turn. Within a couple of minutes Lynn (Lin) started on my dipped nails by removing the dip I had previously. I asked her to recommend another color so my nails could stand out and did an amazing job, my nails looked so natural. I really loved them because other places I went the dip was too thick. Only thing I did have to ask for the drink menu because no one had offered me a drink, but I was immediately given my drink a Bay Breeze. Other people around me asked me what drink I had ordered so they could order one too!! Drink was delicious After my nails were done I proceeded to get a Signature Pedicure $35 service includes Cuticle-Nails,Trim,Shape,Buff Smooth, Callus Removed-Sugar Scrub, Mask Hot towel -Paraffin Wax or Hot Stone. I was asked to go sit down by the bar so my nails could get dry but as I was walking my left toe was messed up so immediately it was repaired just had to wait for it to dry up so I could get the clear coat. The salon itself is beautiful. Very nice atmosphere, large TVs, a bar and complimentary drinks. Pedicure was amazing, they include a lot in their basic pedicure that many nail salons don't. However, I'll rate this salon 2 stars only because of the job they did on my hands. I got dip powder with acrylic nails and my nails were already lifting and I needed a fill within a couple of days. When my nails came off, all of my real nails were damaged. I even had green under one of my nails. It's been 3 weeks now and my nails still have not fully healed from this acrylic set. The pedicures are short & i asked numerous times for her to rub harder or with just any amount of pressure. She dismissed me & kept taking on her headphones. It was the worst pedicure. I barely felt relaxed or massaged and it's $43! Lol And then my little girls were getting pedicures which they were excited about. And the ladies did great but my girls had chosen glow in the dark paint which there is NO sign or anything that they up-charge $5 additional dollars for it. So that was an additional $15 to our cost that i wasn't aware of! And we went to the bathroom & mine & my daughters don't even glow in the dark!!!! So they charged us $10 for NO REASON! American WAS one of my go-to spots, but to start out they are extremely overpriced. Coming with "complimentary" drinks, the prices are immediately higher than other places. The sets start at $70 but I find myself paying $100 most of the time for sets I'm not completely happy with. Honestly, some of the techs are good, but some are simply careless. Once I got my nails done by a man, he was on the phone the whole time, cut my nails too short and stepped out as he was doing my nails to smoke. Once a woman did my nails and I LOVED them, the price was cheaper than usual. I made an appointment for my 83 year old mother and myself to get pedicures on Saturday morning. We were the first appointments for the day and were greeted warmly at the front door by two gentlemen. One was complimenting my mom on her nice toes (pre pedicure) and was very genuine. We were taken to our pedicure chairs, and they started running water so it would warm up by the time we started our service, and offered us a drink. We both opted for Diet Cokes but their drink menu is extensive. We opted for the Refresh Pedicure which is the basic option. For $26, the service included: Cuticles, nails, trim, shape, buff smooth Callous remover, sugar scrub, hot towel Each of our manicurists were quick and efficient. Instead of searching through bottles of polish like I've done in many salons, they brought us several books filled with artificial nails in every color offered to choose our color. There are 7 different price levels for pedicures and 5 price levels for manicures. I'm looking forward to my next visit so I can try more services. The entire salon was clean, well decorated and comfortable. By the time we left, it was getting busy and I think everyone was enjoying their service too. I have been here multiple times and I have a few things to share. Except for the first two times, all of my visits I've had bad experiences. The 20% discount during a be week is nice, but you get what you pay for! I went in in February 2020 and within a day, 2 nails broke. When I went in to get them fixed, they refused to fix them for no charge after I paid over $50 for my set. So I paid for them To be fixed and left upset. A month later, I went in with my daughter and got a new set & a few things happened on this visit. I have the Google Translate App on my phone and set it for the language the nail techs were speaking (after asking them what language they spoke--Vietnamese) and the app was translating what they were saying and she was calling customers "Pigs" and "annoying" & I was shocked to hear what they were saying! I was done and left upset. The next day 3 of my nails came completely off, as if they used cheap acrylic on my nails. I have NEVER had this happen. I went in and they did fix them for free, but a day later, another one completely came off.
