Scott at American Mattress was knowledgeable and friendly. Some of the best customer service in an efficient way I've ever had. We weren't looking for an all day experience so I appreciated that. Stopped by looking for an inexpensive twin bed for a small child. Even though he had a great looking one for just under $100 we thought we could save more. Of course... Mattress Mania quoted us $30 less so it seemed like a no brainer. WRONG. Drive down the road to see this awesomely priced "mattress" and find it to be an expensive piece of thin foam covered in a questionable piece of cloth. But very good service. Back to American Mattress w/our tail between our legs and admit Scott was right. :) After some quick laughs, and very cool information on how they actually make them there, we buy the quality mattress for the reasonable price. We went in to buy a box spring for a new sealy we bought at sears. Seally wanted $250 and that was on discount so we went with this place to get a cheaper one. We still ended up getting a name brand one and it was only $140. WOW, what great service. It was fast and easy with no hassles. The guy showed us the options and gave us the prices and let us choose with not a word about our choice. And they have free delivery if you live nearby. They have their stuff they make on the cheap and the name brands for more just like any other mattress outlet. What sets these guys apart is the service. read more

So I bought a Denali King size mattress 5 months ago , great mattress until one night something popped and it created a dip in on side, it is a pillow top and one side was 2" shorter than the other side, did not look too bad but when you would laydown on the one side you could feel the dip. Visually it did not look too bad a 1" dip and the fabric was loose and when you compared sides one side of the pillow top was 4" and the other side was 2". Talked to American Mattress and filed a claim, they told me up front that all they could do is to summit the claim and it was up to the manufacture to make the decision and it would take a week or so the hear back. In less than 24 hours I got a store credit for the full price. Note: I took lots of good photos with a 4 foot level to show the dip and photos of the sagging side all with a tape measure to show what was going on. This is just my latest purchase of many over the years. So keep the receipt, take good photos if you have problems this will help. read more

They have the worst customer services in he world! It took me four month to talk to them and replace my broken brand new mattress. They definitely don't care about their customers. They don't even apologize for my broken mattress. I would rather lose my money to get rid of them!!!!! Worst customer service by the manager. Tried to charge me more than I was quoted. He sent the wrong box spring and then charged me $40.00 for his mistake. Bought a bed at the West 11th store and it caused me pain and discomfort from the get-go, which I have never experienced before. So I went to exchange it and was met with poor customer service. The man named Casey was rude. One example- when I said the bed caused me a lot of back pain from the first night, he responded disdainfully "And you think the bed caused that?!". He then asked me if it was getting better, as if the pain were to get better, I could keep the mattress. I got another salesperson to help me, however after being a repeat customer and the poor quality of their customer service and mattresses, they just lost a repeat customer, which from the reviews is an experience they are familiar with. And I did request a brand new bed but I wonder if it was new at all. Carpe diem with this one folks. read more

Bait and switch. I was told a mattress they had in stock was priced between $800 or $900. When I arrived at the store I was told they made a mistake. The mattress was $3400. Not even close. I feel like it was a way to get me into their store. I will never be shopping here. I've bought three beds/mattresses here over the years and they are all great! They have a really good selection, ranging from meeting your most basic mattress needs to the fancier stuff. I have not been able to find a better deal for mattresses anywhere. The price alone is a reason to go. The service is also really excellent. Every time I've been in, I've been treated well. The staff is attentive but they let you look without harassing you. They also treated me with respect and have always spoken to me as a peer, which as a young lady you don't always get. They explain your choices really well and are patient as you browse and ask questions. If you live close by they offer free delivery and set up. This place is awesome and I recommend it to everyone I know if they ever need a bed! read more

Three years ago I purchased a very expensive latex bliss mattress from American mattress 18 months ago we complained about it sagging Ryan from American mattress came and looked at it he said that it was not sagging enough for Warranty last November he came and looked at it and said it was now warrantable it sags about 2 inches on each side and is very difficult to sleep in After several phone calls they keep telling me that there were waiting to hear from the manufacture so if you want good customer service do not go to American mattress or buy a latex bliss mattress read more

I bought a mattress and frame. I agree with most of the other reviews, sales people were friendly, and the bed was delivered in just about time frame. But my problem is with the quality of the merchandise and the way the frame was built. When the delivery/ installer showed up for the second time at 5:30 (they brought the wrong frame the first time) it was a single person and wearing a knee brace and clearly over worked. So I decided to help him unload the frame. When it came to assemble the frame he was struggling as well, so I offered to help. During this time I noticed the installer was stripping out the cheap screws that were provided, in fact, I had to use vice crips to remove a few. The installer shuffled around screws, leaving a few less important boards not secured. Well after this horrible and uncomfortable experience the bed frame creeks when we roll over. I tried to tighten the screws when they just turn in the wood. So I called the store, and asked about a exchange on just the frame, in fact I would pay more to upgrade, I was told there is no return policy for the frames. So I asked for a manager to explain the situation but one was not available and I would receive a return call. Which I never did. I feel I would have had a better experience if I would of went somewhere else. read more

It took some time for someone to ask what we were in the market for.Then we were shown a stained mattress and invited to lie down on it to see how it felt. YUCK! To be honest upfront, I have worked in customer service for over ten years so I don't usually like to complain about service. This is one of my few reviews ever, But after my experience here I need to let others know the truth about this place. After buying a mattress, night stand, and dresser, I originally thought I received a fair price and walked out happy... Then the nightmare begins. First, my bed didn't show up for about two weeks, but I was told at purchase it would arrive in less than one week... have you slept on the floor for a week? Then, my dresser showed up seven weeks later, and I was left to wonder where my nightstand was??? After I called, I was told it will be at their warehouse in about 4-6 more weeks and they'll call and let me know when to pick it up. There goes the free delivery. Then, just about the time my night stand arrived (about 3 1/2 months after purchase) my bed lost its shape and firmness. I flipped it, rotated it, you name it, but it didn't work. When I called the store to see if there was a warranty, that's when I was told the mattress was refurbished, something that was not disclosed to me at purchase. About a week later one of the fronts to the dresser fell off. I have attempted multiple times to fix it with wood glue and nails, but the original craftsmanship was so shotty there's no way to repair without causing cosmetic damage. Long story short, this place is not worth it. There are other stores in the Eugene/Springfield area, go to any of those. If this place sold cars, I would compare it to a lemon lot. Shame on me for getting fooled, and shame on you if you don't take my advice. read more
