(I checked with BY themselves.) Then Paul Schatz negotiated a price with us: I made the salesman an offer, she went and checked with the manager, came back and said ok, I repeated the offer to ensure there was no misunderstanding, she agreed, and we shook hands. But then Schatz refused to honor that price. Said that the whole conversation and handshake had never happened. A LIE! Then they said over the phone that it didn't matter because they had decided not to do business with us. BY is located in North Carolina. Found a furniture store near them and that store is selling us the same pieces and shipping them to us for more than 20% less than Paul Schatz was willing to do it. Don't ever, EVER give these guys your business. Unethical stores don't deserve to be in business.

This is the highest quality second-hand store in the area with the fairest prices. They have an exceptional eye for quality and style. Furniture, tools, electronics, outdoor items, asundry items (no clothing) - you name it. I've always left with more than I was looking for because prices and quality were so good. They are not into dickering prices, and that is okay because of the fairness of prices. I have well-furnished my house, and outfitted by shop with their high quality items. Looker Beware! They have a significant turnover of items, so make a decision to buy sooner than later! On the other hand, it is exciting to stop by every couple of weeks to see the many new items. All electronics, power equipment, appliances are thoroughly inspected. The furniture is cleaned and polished. The service is hassle-free, so you can take your time looking; they will also give you very personable attention, like family.

They were referred to my family after the passing of a family member as we needed to prepare the house for sale. Not only do they HIGHLY undervalue items but they also destroyed property moving furniture out. A 7 foot long scratch was left on a wood floor, with a witness there to see it occur. Their reaction when they were called about it was that we are paying the witness to lie. What business owner reacts this way? So when you go in there and see all the items, remember.....they take advantage of people in their grief, and are extremely unprofessional in all capacities. I would rather donate my things next time to someone grateful for it, rather than someone trying to take advantage and ruin my property without so much as an apology. Im sure thete are many choices out there....be wise

Talk about a wonderful discovery! After hours spent on the internet searching for two matching…read morebookcases in the size, style and finish I wanted, I stumbled onto Cole's Furniture. They're too old-fashioned and too busy to create a website so I had to actually go to the store -- a somewhat novel idea in this era of internet shopping! But, walking through the doors of the old, worn-out warehouse-like building was the wonderful discovery I mentioned when I opened this review. I could go on and on about the immense variety of unfinished furniture they carry, but I'd rather talk about how calm, kind, and helpful Suzanne Cole is and... how well- priced Cole's unfinished furniture is, how high the quality is and how beautifully Cole Furniture hand-rubs their finishes. If a shopper doesn't see exactly what he/she wants in the warehouse, Suzanne will introduce a shopper to the website catalogue of the manufacturer with whom she works. And the choices are mind-boggling. For my bookcases, I was able to select the side profile, the base design, the cornice design, the depth, height, length, door design (of course, I could have gone without doors as well) and the hardware. And then, the all-important finish was done at Cole's for, in my case, only $50 a book case. I recommend Cole's Furniture with absolute enthusiasm! In fact, the next time I need a piece of wood furniture, I plan to skip the regular-all-the-same furniture stores and go straight to Cole's to order that piece of furniture to fit my own, unique specifications.
