We needed a mattress and frame for my elderly Mom, and both she and I are chemically sensitive.. it had to have no new mattress smell! Thank you, Mandy for your reply. Regarding your warranty, I brought the mattress back, American Mattress did not send someone here to check it. Bringing it back was not easy - and I had to do it twice. When at the store, I was not treated with courtesy, and when the mattress was checked I was a told there was no sag (checked with a straight-edge, not by feeling for the lumps below the cover). The cover is stretched tight so exhibits no sag. The filling below the cover, however, is not firm and flat. After complaining to the Oregon District Attorney consumer affairs department and contacting the manufacturer directly, I was able to get the manufacturer to agree to replace it. The store was not cooperative. The replacement, however, was still problematic - lumpy and sagging in the middle. If this represents good customer service, you can understand why I've avoided dealing with American Mattress again. If you're willing to come out to check the mattress and replace it with one like we tried in the showroom - firm and flat - I'm willing to give the matter another chance to be settled amicably. read more

After seeing the marketing specifically mentioning that they specialized in made to order RV mattresses I was excited to go visit the store. I explained the size and type of mattress I wanted for my RV to the sales associate. It was at that point the sales associate told me he doubted they would be able to help me. All the bad reviews are accurate they lie to you and tell you if you have a mattress protector on it they will replace the mattress. My mattress needs replaced and because I didn't have a mattress protector for two weeks they refuse to replace it mind you there's wasn't a claim until just recently. We were guaranteed that we would be able to change out our mattress within 60 days. We had contacted someone to come out. They walked back to the truck (he barely spoke english) then the warehouse called my husband sing he found a stain and can't take it back. I looked through that bed several times and there are ZERO stains. My husband tried going to the store to talk about having another person come out that preferably spoke English so my husband and him would be able to talk about anything that they were concerned about, and the manager at the Schererville location screamed and at my husband pounding on the desk adding there is nothing they could do. I am extremely disgusted with this entire experience. That mattress has been covered since the day we got it there is no way it could have gotten any kind of stain and for them not to send a second person for such an expensive purchase! They couldn't even give me the day that I originally wanted cause they do not deliver on Saturday cause they don't have enough drivers is what they said. Put a dent into my floor model frame that didn't have when I bought it and paid full price for either. Very unhappy with the quality of the mattresses after time. After replacing my sons mattress that was purchased there, we disassembled it to recycle it and discovered it was an old mattress which had the padding flipped over then recovered. The Sealy Queen I purchased for my self and husband with muscular dystrophy, broke down very quickly and has become very uncomfortable. The $3,500 I spent there furnishing 3 bedrooms 4 years ago, just went down the tubes. If you don't ask if the mattresses are reconditioned, they won't tell you. read more

I bought a new mattress from here recently, and I feel like I got good service and a good deal. I was looking for a twin-size mattress, and the more famous name-brand mattresses (Sealy, etc.) seemed to be only available in larger sizes, but I think I got a good one. This is a good place to buy a mattress if you're on a budget, too, as you can get a mattress for under $200 if you want. They have a fairly good selection of mattresses, too. When I asked how soon the mattress could be delivered, the salesperson said the next day, which I thought was pretty good. I was willing to wait, but then he offered to deliver it that night after they closed (for a $20 delivery charge). I thought that was nice. read more

If you want quality furniture, shop elsewhere. We have made perhaps fiver purchases here over the past thirty years, but will never shop there again. We appreciate the fact that this business is local, and some prices are reasonable. But something must have changed recently. We recently made a purchase that turned out to be unsatisfactory. We were very disappointed in the treatment we received when we made a reasonable request for a refund. Management was totally unwilling to negotiate, even though we are long term customers, and the items purchased were clearly not what we expected. I bought a MLily Serenity mattress in 11/2013. It has a 10 yr tiered limited warranty. First year 100%, 2nd yr 90%, 3rd yr 80% and so on. We have moved since the purchase and have misplaced our receipt and had closed the bank acct shortly after so I couldn't find a statement either. I wanted to submit claim to MLily before yr end to get the max % I could. Now I'm only able to get 40% if I find my statement or get a copy from them. I called AM to request a copy of receipt on 11/18/19. They informed me that they are not paperless and would have to go to storage to search for it. It would take 2-3 weeks. Since no call back, I call again on 12/10/19 to follow up and was told to find my bank statement. Basically, she wasn't going to look through storage. I said "You have chosen to keep paper records, so please don't make your customers wait barbecue you don't want to research it. I need a copy asap. I have been patient this far". She said she'd call when found. I call again on 12/31/19 to follow up. she said she'd look to see if it was found and call back. 2 hrs later another lady calls and asks me for the info all over again and that she'd start looking. "WHAT!? I gave this info to the other lady 6 weeks ago after being told it would take 2-3 weeks! I needed this receipt weeks ago". She sounded shocked but proceeded with wanting the info. I gave it to her, again". She called back the next day and said she couldn't locate it, did I have the date correct. Not surprised with the system they have. I would not recommend this company. There are too many other mattress companies to chose from then take a gamble with this one. Just read through Yelp, It doesn't look good. Keep your receipts in a safe place. No pressure sales, so I have been a longtime customer of American Mattress. Bought all my kid's beds there over the years. In 2016, purchased an $800 Simmons mattress and platform bed for myself. Within 4 months, the mattress was sagging in the center. Contacted AM and was told to take pix to submit a claim under Simmons warranty. Did so and was told it was denied as it needed to be at least 1.5" for the factory warranty. They told me to keep measuring and resubmit again over time. A year later talked with AM again. They had absolutely no records of any claim submitted the previous year. I also told them the mattress wasn't sagging 1.5", but the store manager Mandy encouraged me that they wanted to help and said she hadn't had a claim denied yet! I resent in the pictures they had no record of. After not hearing any follow up from Mandy, I called Mandy and she said she submitted the claim, didn't know why she hadn't heard anything, but didn't offer anything else. I asked her to resubmit, which she did. Still didn't hear anything back from her. I called again, and said she still had no info from Simmons. I asked her to follow up again. She frustratedly said she would call Simmons and promised to call me. Still no phone call. I called again a few days later, and she said claim was denied. Said there was nothing else she could do (after having said initially they wanted to help me). I told her it's not right that I have been sleeping on a mattress that sagged after 4 months, and I have had to lay blankets under me to level it out. She offered nothing other than to keep measuring???? A few days later, I left a message for the owner, Cheryl Brazil to call me to discuss this. No call was returned. I then sent a letter to Cheryl explaining this whole situation in detail, with dates, names, etc. There has been no response. Run, don't walk, away from this business.
