My biggest fear was if mold was behind the tile - he was confident it wasn't. But of course I asked if it was and he did give me a price like I asked so I would be prepared. Our house is over 100 years old so we ran into a few snafus, like an uneven floor, bracketing issues attaching the dishwasher to the counter, and hose fittings but he handled it all smoothly, checking with me before making any decisions we might not have been comfortable with (e.g., screws in our counter interfered with bracketing the dishwasher exactly in the center of the space we had wanted so we had to shift a little to the left). He also reused some materials I had left over from a DIY project I had done to level the washer, saving us some money on additional materials. We also ran the dishwasher before he left and identified one of the hoses was a little too loose, causing a slight drip, so he made sure everything was tight and secure before wrapping the job. Compared to other contractors that I know, Matrix deserves 5 stars. I gave only 4 because nobody is perfect, but they come pretty close in the world of contracting. 4.5 would be more precise. What got our attention mostly is the material they use. The walls are made with foam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of magnesium board. A basement flood won't destroy your basement, and the material is stronger than regular drywall. The drop ceiling sits straight and the floor looks great too. At first we wanted to know how much just the material would cost us, because we wanted to save money the dyi way. During the estimation process we had them price out the complete contract as well. Then we decided to save ourselves a lot of headaches by letting them do almost the whole job. I like doing the finishing work myself, such as trim and doors. That saved us a few bucks and gives me a few weekend projects.

He was in our home twice to quote and then go over job with his foreman. My wife spent most of the time discussing the woodwork on the steps and riser. They accidentally painted riser, we noticed this immediately and pointed it out, this needs to be fixed. Now, they will not return and say, "this is out of our territory." So am I supposed to call the Brighton Certa Pro to fix their mistake they were paid 32 grand for? I would be embarred is I was the Franchisor of Certa Pro.
