Recently, the handyman we usually work with was not available for a very long time so we took a chance on doing a consultation with someone else. He was not good, didn't know what he was talking about, quoted us about 4X the typical pricing. We said no way and asked for a reschedule with our usual guy. The date finally came for our usual guy and they sent someone else! They can't even get the scheduling right and don't seem to have as many reliable/good employees anymore.

Domestic Dude has been nothing short of amazing. Before I even get into his high quality,…read moreaffordable, and versatile work, I'll say from the outset that he's been a good person and a generous soul. DD is looking out for me as a person, as opposed to merely being someone who is making money off of my property. Examples: He has lent me tools when I wanted to fix things on my own, referred me to other people to help with my house, given me free flowers for my yard and offered to make me artwork. On a more professional note, he has done yardwork outside and handy work inside. This has included high quality landscaping, taking ivy off of my brick, and planting free flowers in my yard. Inside, he has hung up pictures and other artwork, fixed problems in my bathroom, and helped me snake a drain. The list could go on, too. He can do anything and everything and he charges an affordable rate. I highly recommend DD to all people in the Ann Arbor area without any ounce of hesitation.

Brian came out promptly and replaced the sill plate without having to jack up the house. The job was completed with good attention to detail. The total job cost a little more than quoted from another contractor, but I feel My Handyman did it more quickly, and they didn't have to destroy drywall to install a house jack. Thrilled with the quality of the work and Brian's knowledge. I will hire them again for many other projects around my house. Here are the cons: 1. No real quote. They charge on a per-day basis. They did not give me a quote to finish the 3-day job ahead of time. The total cost ended up being reasonable, but it seems risky to contract work this way as a customer. 2. Slightly messy. Brian did a great job with the work itself, but there was a lot of trash left over in my yard. I suspect he would have cleaned if I asked, but it saved money to clean up myself. 3. Materials markup. If they buy materials to complete your job, you pay the costs plus some markup rate. The markup rate is not clear; the invoice simply explains that it covers "administrative costs." Brian was not able to articulate the markup clearly. I'm happy to pay for a convenience, but it's not clear whether the markup is exorbitant.
