I went in for my first tattoo today, my artist was Keith. He was extremely sanitary and respectful towards me and the guests I brought. I picked a difficult spot to have my tattoo placed, on my ribcage about 7 inches vertically. It was a fine line tattoo, Keith did such an amazing job on the line work and shading. After the tattoo he ran through all the information needed for the aftercare. So far it looks amazing, extremely centered and detailed. I would recommend this shop to anyone!! read more

I got my triple toward helix pierced by Rachel. The first week there was no problems with it. I cleaned it with the solution they gave as directed. Shortly after I started to get keloid bumps. I went back to ask if there was something I or they could do to help, like changing the hoops they were pierced with. Rachel didn't even look at my ear and told me to just 'keep cleaning them'. And so i did! As the keloid bumps got worse, I started to use diluted tea tree oil and it helped but they still got worse and more painful. After a month and a half of pain, I realized that I needed to go somewhere else for more help. I went to Tattoo 13 and they told me my ear was too swollen to put in normal flat back studs in and KJ put in studs and gave me a better cleaning solution. The piercings i got from Rachel we're uneven and I wasn't helped when I needed it. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE! Tattoo 13 isn't far and KJ will treat you well and price nicely. UPDATE! after going to tattoo 13, KJ out regular studs in my ears and the keloid bumps completely disappeared! although the piercings are still not even, they aren't infected anymore. if you're thinking of getting anything done from American Graffiti, consider calling T13 to hear their prices out. read more

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I have seen Chris Page, whom I believe is the owner of American Graffiti. I got my very first tattoo from him, and trusted him because of all of the work that multiple friends have from him. Seeing that my friends had good work and trusted him helped to ease my fears. The shop has about 3-4 tattoo artists, and at least 1 piercer. Their prices are VERY reasonable, especially for the quality. I can only recommend Chris, as I have never seen the work done by the other artists. Chris is known for his shading, and he rocks at it. But he books up pretty far out (which is of course a good sign!), so call sooner than later. But he has occasionally gotten me in at the last minute, so you might get lucky. DO NOT COME HERE FOR PIERCINGS. I would give it 0 stars if I could. About 2 years ago I got my cartilage on my ear pierced and it still has not healed. I took great care of it , and just decided it had to have been something I had done. Maybe an injury. Recently I came back with a friend to get my nose pierced. I've been following the after care exactly how I'm supposed to. It has been three days and my nose is already showing signs of infection. When she was piercing my nose the needle got stuck halfway through and it took at least 2 minutes for her to dig her way through my nose. The needle she used was pretty thick but I tried to not think much of it. It was the most EXCRUCIATING pain of my life. I thought maybe it's because my nostril is kind of thick. My friend went next after me, she has a thinner nostril and she said it was also very painful. Her piercing took five minutes mine took about 10. When I watch videos online the piercing doesn't take more than one or two minutes. I'm very upset because my nose is not healing, only getting worse and I feel like it will never heal similar to my cartilage. read more

This place was recommended by two friends who have been going here for a long time but I was very disappointed with my experience. I had my tattoo done by Chris Page who I think is the owner. He fucked up my tattoo but that's not the only reason I won't be going back. Chris was wearing gloves while tattooing me but he continued to answer the phone and didn't change gloves between each call. I have two issues with this, first, watching him handle his equipment and then the phone let's me know the whole shop is cross-contaminated. Second, it also let me know he wasn't fully paying attention to what he was doing. He went outside the lines in several areas and even though I went back to have it touched up he still missed the main one I complained about. This was a waste of time and money. I don't know if he's too old to still be doing this (30 years experience) or if it's just his eyesight fading. I also think he's a tad colorblind as my colors were also completely off. I have this really ugly tattoo and I will be going somewhere else to have this fixed. Not only do I have an ugly tattoo but now I also have to get a complete blood screen due to fear of picking something up Chris passed between his contaminated equipment and phone. Overall summary: Avoid this place unless you don't have a healthy fear of blood-borne diseases. read more

I feel like this place doesn't care about you unless you are a fully tattooed and pierced person. I have eleven tattoos, four of them have been done here. I'm not sure why I even had that many done here. I have a simple word on my wrist "coexist". The artist was this older cranky man(not Chris Page). He lectured me about getting my tattoo so the words were facing me. Saying it was stupid that kids my age get them facing themselves. Tattoos are for other people. Not in my world. Ray has done two of my tattoos, I'm getting one of them covered up in looks so bad. It's fully of splotches, and I promise I wasn't picking scabs. The other one done by him is great, but was a super easy tattoo the size of a fifty cent piece. My other was done by Chris' son. He didn't do a bad job, and he was young, and fun. It's not my favorite, there's a few bumps in the road but it's nothing I'm embarrassed about. Back to what I said in the beginning, they don't respect young twenty something girls who go in with all of their tattoos able to be covered. I have eleven, it's not like I'm a first timer. I also don't think that it helps that I live in South Lyon. The guys at Deep Image and American Graffiti seem to not get along. read more

This place was so gross. First, I called ahead and asked if they do piercings and they hung up on me. So, I went in and the hole place spelled like marijuana and people were smoking weed in the parking lot. When I got inside porn was on the tv and there was naked posters of girls on the walls. I called to inquire about getting piercings done and whoever answered the phone was not very friendly at all, they gave me the time that Rachel got in and hung up. When I got into the shop it was empty, a few of the male workers were there in a room, they asked what I wanted and I told them I was there for a piercing and they pointed me to the back. When I got into the room, Rachel, the piercer asked me what I wanted (she seemed a bit annoyed). I went in to get my medusa, left nostril, and right nostril done. Piercings are normally $30 each, but she said she would get me $10 off the second two (most places give a better discount, but considering it included the jewelry, it was a good deal). She spent a lot of time making sure she had everything just right before actually doing the piercing and double checked with me multiple times to make sure it looked good to me and that was greatly appreciated. Overall the experience was good and I would return to get more piercings done. read more

PIERCING REVIEW Honestly if I could rate less than one star I would. Several of my friends and I have given the piercer numerous chances to prove that she could skillfully do her job but every time has been a huge disappointment. She has used the wrong size/shape jewelry, doesn't know the proper healing time for jewelry changes, and uses low quality jewelry. I've now been to other more reputable shops and been told every time that her advice was very inaccurate. Please avoid this shop for piercings and spend a little more money for a better quality experience. read more

Very good shop! I was in Ann Arbor for a few weeks and was looking to get a tattoo. I shopped around going to a few shops in downtown Ann Arbor and finding them unprofessional and lacking in customer service. I looked around online and found this place was voted number 4 best tattoo shop in Michigan. At first i emailed Chris Page and he was booked during my time frame. He got me an appointment with Dwayne Mullett and we started emailing back and forth with what I wanted. Dwayne was very understanding and helpful. He was honest and when he didn't think something would work he said so and gave suggestions. When I showed up for my appointment Dwayne had the artwork ready to show me with minimal changes needed. His artwork was very good and his lettering turned out amazing on the final tattoo. My skin wasn't taking the ink very well but he worked through it and the tattoo turned out just how i wanted. When it came time to pay the price was very reasonable. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area. The other artists in the shop were more than happy to talk with walk ins and provide any assistance where as the other shops I walked into were not as helpful. Needless to say, if I am ever getting a tattoo in michigan again I will be heading right to American Graffiti. read more

After going to one place first and having them say they will not tattoo under 18 even with a parent I thought that was the end of my tattoo. But nope Keith was willing to do my tattoo on a very short notice (about 2 hours) We drove their and where immediately helped. I had the general design of my tattoo with me but I also wanted a rose along with it, Keith knew exactly what I wanted and pulled out a drawing he had done and it was perfect. This was my first tattoo so I was nervous and even though I was pretty much digging my nails into his arm he was still very kind about it. Keith even dealt with me when it toke me 5 minutes to pick a red. I ended up going home a happy person but after a couple days I noticed some things off about my tattoo and after a week or two I knew something was wrong there was yellow bumps in places and looked like puss and blisters (I called Keith and said I think I had a infection he just put it off and I emailed him pics and he never answered) and fading was hardcore. I realized many of the lines are shaky and uneven and in one place one star point is completely overdrawn. In the end I am pretty unhappy and have to have it redone, will be going to another place. I went in with my daughter who wanted her first tattoo, we talked to Keith as to what he could create, we went back a few days later to take a look at what he created from her description, it was great!! She wanted a skeleton coming out of a closet with her finger to her lips, He made the skeleton look feminine, and the detail is awesome even down to the door knob on the closet! I got my tragus pierced back in December and it healed very well and looked good i recently went back on monday (8/28) to get it changed from a hoop to a stud and the girl doing it, the same one who pierced it, seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't hardly talk to me. After i got it changed it was kind of sore but I thought it was normal until today (8/31) when it hurt so bad that I needed it to be taken out. I didn't have time to go to Brighton so I just went somewhere closer to home. As soon as the girl from the other tattoo shop looked at it i could tell she was concerned and when i told her where i got it done at she replied with "never go back there the girl who does piercings hates her job and doesn't care about her work" the new stud that was put in my ear at American Graffiti was way too small and was embedded into my ear after having it for 4 days and the girl at my local tattoo shop really had to work at it to get it out and it was very painful. 0/10 would recommend going to a place where the workers don't care about the wellbeing of their clients. and its not very clean inside either. read more

No. I called and spoke with a man on then phone about a tattoo and he was very short and rude with me. I thought maybe this was just a fluke so I went in a couple weeks later to see if I could get a quote on a tattoo and maybe have one drawn up/set up an appointment. When I walked in the guy that i first spoke to was very nice. I explained to him where i wanted the tattoo, how big, what it was, etc. he gave me a price estimate and asked me if i wanted to book an appointment. i said yes and he directed me towards the tattoo artist whom my appointment would be with. the artist, dwayne, was quite possibly the rudest man i have ever encountered. he didn't even look up at me when i spoke to him. he asked me absolutely no information about my tattoo (mind you, he had not heard the conversation about my tattoo i had with the first gentleman) he just asked what day and time i wanted to come in and for my phone number. didn't offer to send me a drawing of the tattoo first, didn't talk to me at all. it was like i was inconveniencing his day just by being there. Needless to say, I called and cancelled my appointment the next day. While their prices are hard to beat, I would rather go somewhere more expensive that appreciates my business. Maybe some of the other artists are different, but i will not go to a shop that allows someone that rude to work there. read more
