After two tests at the Westminster location, I was told I would need to go to a different location to continue testing, which was frustrating and inconvenient. I ended up taking my test at a different school and passed on my first try, which showed me that the environment and examiner really matter. I hope DriveSafe can improve consistency and communication for future students, because it was not a positive experience for me.

And then tell you if you don't pay their nearly $100 "cancelation" fee (because they cancelled you from the class for missing the required in tiny print form) that same day your child will be removed from the program. Oh and you have to pay cash (how? no instructions) or they charge even more money to use a card. I'm sure there are better programs to work with, but they have our money now.

We had 2 hours of class room…read moreteaching, which was eye opening and then 2 hours of hands on driving, where we gained confidence in getting the car out of front wheel skids (understeer), rear wheel skid (oversteer) and all wheel skids in various situations. Highly recommended, great hands on teacher who does not mince words if and when you screw up and explains to you what happened and why you skidded out of control. We feel a little safer now and this was important for our kids to learn too.

So I decided to take the class to learn how to drive safely in snowy/icy weather. Michal was very knowledgeable and I learned a ton. The first part of the class involved watching informational slides as he talked and some videos of scary accidents. The actual driving portion was super fun! You get to practice how to handle different types of skidding, and Michal would give you notes on what went wrong and how to correctly navigate. CDS was recommended to me by a friend with older kids and before we used them I checked with other local places. All were more expensive and most didn't offer the flexible class schedules. I loved that my kids could take both the written and driving tests at CDS; that's one less thing I needed to schedule at the BMV.

Sat in the lobby waiting for my appointment to come up. In walks the instructor "Thomas" with a younger kid who was the appointment before me, he walked in with a smile and said to the kids mother "He failed, would you like me to tell you why? Then listed off 10+ reasons such as being 1mph over the speed limit and not stopping long enough at a stop sign. I knew I was in for it at that point. We got into my vehicle and I told him I had to start it via interlock device first...then he marked his clipboard. Told me to make a left turn, id signal to make a left turn then get criticized about my speed, hand position on the wheel, etc. Id even say "okay" to agree and then get told not to speak at all during the test. Then we drove through a school zone, no flashing yellow light was on or blinking and there wasn't a person in sight so I followed the speed limit sign 30mph and then he told me "well that law violation will cost you the test" and then I said there was no blinking yellow light indicating to slow down to 20mph and he rose his voice and we began to argue. I told him he was very unprofessional and I would like to conclude the test now and I drove back to the golden location. Then he says would you like me to tell you why you failed the test? I said you probably wouldn't care to hear my response back to you and he exited the vehicle. So I payed another $80 and made an appointment at the Lakewood location 2 days later. My instructor this time was the lead supervisor. He was great. We talked as we drove, I followed his commands just fine and followed all instructions, and didn't get yelled at or criticized the entire time. We got back to the Lakewood location and he told me I passed with a "7". And I got my license the same day. Community Driving School is great, wonderful alternative to the DMV for testing! THOMAS you should consider working at the license bureau printing license plates. If you're trying to get your license AVOID the golden location at all costs. Then I got marked as absent and was not allowed to re-join the class for the next session or make up the first session. Did they allow other students? I'll never know. I just want my money back. (I had forgotten about this experience until now because I was cleaning off my to-do list. I regret not following up with them on this. Goodbye a couple hundred bucks.)

The co-owners were both actively involved in the class, and on our first visit they guided and assisted me to make a beautiful and artistic tea light candle dish that I get to take home! It will be a keep sake forever in my guest bathroom. I was actively involved in blowing and creating the glass & got to choose a variety of colors of my choosing for my art piece.
