What a blast! Went with my boyfriend and mother for an introductory class. BYOB glass making fun! Yes, that's right... I enjoyed my Cabernet and made glass art! The co-owners were both actively involved in the class, and on our first visit they guided and assisted me to make a beautiful and artistic tea light candle dish that I get to take home! It will be a keep sake forever in my guest bathroom. I was actively involved in blowing and creating the glass & got to choose a variety of colors of my choosing for my art piece. The artwork in the holding areas from other students is intriguing and inspiring. Beautiful glass art pieces made in-house! I'm definitely going to sign up for future classes. The class was fun and upbeat! These cool, tatted-up, artistic loving, local small business owners resemble the entire reason I live in Austin! They truly recognize the love for art & fun. Shara and Leigh are ahhhhmazing!!!! Very knowledgeable about their craft and are super friendly and funny! I booked a private class for 7 of us for my boyfriend's surprise party this past weekend in Austin. The ladies were very helpful and made our party a huge success! Everyone loved the brief intro to glass blowing... we were introduced to the equipment and tools that we would get hands-on experience with! It was really cool! Blown glass is beautiful and mysterious! This is a must come try for yourself!!! The studio is located in a pretty hipster part of town . . . there is a great brewery next door! Recently purchased a groupon for my daughter but it expired before I could use it due to some medical problems she was having. I asked if they would extend the voucher due to this and they would not. They said their policy was to extend the value of the original voucher but I would have to pay another $50 for the class. All the vouchers offer that. I had a couple others I purchased expire and they all honored the voucher anyway. I believe this to be poor customer service and a lack of caring and have no intention of spending any more money with them. read more

I'm writing to review the glass bowing classes as well as a custom sculpture that incorporated our dog's ashes - both were absolutely wonderful! As for the class, it was a small group, and the level of individual attention was perfect. We each got to make a small custom piece, and got to blow our glass with clear instructions from the pros (Shara and Leigh), I highly recommend it for people of all ages! As for our custom piece, we worked closely with Shara to create a custom sculpture of our dog in a play position she was known for, and the time, dedication and attention to detail that Shara demostrated was above and beyond our expectations. What fun! I booked a class for my husband and in-laws who are all a very crafty bunch because we knew the weekend weather for their visit wasn't looking good. Leigh was able to accommodate our private lesson for four on Saturday afternoon and handled all payment digitally (which I love). We enjoyed about 2.5 hours of watching, listening and participating in the creation of two cool, colored glass items each - including beautiful Christmas ornaments which we can display as sun catchers year round. The new studio is cute and has a lovely sculpture garden by its side ... And Leigh was very pleasant, fun and informative. I'd definitely recommend it if you've got a group of craft folks who are curious and love to play with fire! read more

I just recently took a beginner glass blowing class at East Side and had a really great experience. The 2 woman that teach the classes really explain every aspect of the art of glass blowing. I really enjoyed getting into the fire and actually making something that i could say....i did that. I would highly recommend this class for someone that is curious about this art form. I would also recommend checking out their art gallery at the front of their work space, the work is amazing. read more

My boyfriend and I took a private glassblowing session here, and Leigh, our instructor, was very nice! We arrived a little late, but she was super accommodating and we got to make two lovely pieces of glass two ways. She was very clear in her explanations and it was great to get to have some hands on experience blowing glass, choosing colors, and shaping glass with tools. The artwork there was really cool too, using leftover glass to re-purpose into cool cups! I definitely recommend checking them out, you won't regret it! read more

My wife and I took an introductory class from Leigh and Shara. It was fun, informative, and relaxed. These two women know how to convey skills and techniques in a informal manner, keeping everyone comfortable with the experience. Was an alright class, we were the only two so it went fast but alright quick fun to do with my husband. A total of about 30 min. We actually came from Houston for this class, 4 hours. Our pieces had to sit in the oven over night which was fine even though we were coming back home that day, we paid 10 dollars extra for shipping. After 2.5 months of emails, I finally got a response that they would be shipped. When they arrived about 2.5 weeks later my husbands piece was broken. We never even got to see it. For how expensive the class was PLUS the extra shipping we paid we should've at least been able to see our work. I was most disappointed that each piece only had one thin layer of wrap protection, you would think people in the glass industry would understand how to ship their own product. I emailed again and once more with zero response or even apology still do this day. Terrible customer service if you ask me. read more

I bought a groupon from here and was told they had no availability for 6 months ... since they did not have classes during the summer. I explained to the lady that I was concerned about making this appointment six months out because I was not sure if I would remember. No problem she said we will put you down with a reminder call. No call was given... No problem so I called them.. but unfortunately it was past the six month date. Not only was the lady completely rude to the point I hung up the phone .. she called my house back three times trying to argue with me... PSYCHO.. I do not know if this is a fun class or not because I have not been able to use the damn class that I paid for...but what I can tell you is ..the lady I spoke with had the business sense of a donkey and I have never had anyone from a business stalk call me to get there nasty point across.. word to the wise lady.. if your hormones are swinging that much let your other business partner handle the phone calls... SUPER APPALLED. read more
