The co-owners were both actively involved in the class, and on our first visit they guided and assisted me to make a beautiful and artistic tea light candle dish that I get to take home! It will be a keep sake forever in my guest bathroom. I was actively involved in blowing and creating the glass & got to choose a variety of colors of my choosing for my art piece. The artwork in the holding areas from other students is intriguing and inspiring. Beautiful glass art pieces made in-house! I'm definitely going to sign up for future classes. One year we wanted to try a private Montessori school for one of our sons. It was a disaster and I knew I had to reverse that decision. I also knew the Boulder JCC was already at capacity for the year. Susie's response? There's always room here for your son and your family. Now he's back at the JCC and loving every day. * The teachers go above and beyond for our family. In the morning the teachers smile and give my 3 year old high fives. They are always smiling, singing, reading, connecting with the kids. They text me photos of my little guy doing hip hop. * Super responsive. My oldest loved chess. His teacher brought in a chess board from home. His friends became interested. Then before you know it a chess club was created. This all happened within the span of a couple of weeks. They truly follow the child. * The community. Every school says they have a community. This is the real deal. The JCC community is tight. Everyone is welcome. Every member is important. I think I know all the kids and their parents. We do play dates, birthday parties and big park days. If you are looking to make friends, this is it. Their preschool philosophy is play based with a reggio influence. What this means in practice is a whole lot of fun, sharing, and challah making. Little ones do yoga, play instruments, chess, soccer, and learn about the solar system. In the summer you send your kid to camp in their swim suit because they are playing with the sprinkler hoses and water tables. They come home happy and exhausted. My kids love school. Day off to ski? Long weekend in NYC? They CRY because they don't want to miss school.

Anyhow, Smith-Klein is a fav place to ogle art on the Pearl Street Mall. The collections frequently change and are always of the highest quality. Besides paintings, photographs, and sculptures, Smith-Klein has a great collection of art glass, one-of-a-kind jewelry, and an amazing collection on totems. There are some great metal rabbit sculptures in the front of the store these days that I'd love to take home with me. I've seldom purchased original art, but the prices seem reasonable to me. I hope they get the sculpture back from the kleptomaniac family. Weirdos.

I tried hard to get the owner to come to my house to take a look at a blown out window but had to…read moretry many times. He finally came over and I was excited that I finally found someone who could do the work and was pleasant and price conscience. He presented me with an estimate for the window repair and I immediately agreed to the price and let him know. That's where everything stopped. I waited and waited and waited even more for a call back with an estimate but my numerous calls, texts and emails were never answered. I finally sent an email asking for his advice on window repair versus replacement and he emailed me back basically telling me what a bad idea we were thinking of, but he never gave me the courtesy of even a short email saying he was too busy to take care of the repair of our windows, especially the one that was blown out by the wind. Summit county has very few people who do the work the owner does, so I totally understand he was too busy, but why did he not respond to my repeated texts/ calls/emails so I could just move on and find someone else? When I agreed to the pricing I figured he was at least interested in doing the work and we were willing to wait. I also had a house full of other windows needed adjusting, so it wasn't like this job was too small. I eventually had to go out of county to find a reputable service but I would have contacted them much sooner had I figured out the owner did not want my business. Unfortunately I had to have his business removed from my realtor's recommended service providers because I could no longer endorse the company. I am disappointed that so many contractors and service providers don't give potential customers the courtesy of a quick text or email saying sorry, they have plenty of work and don't want extra work. Maybe some day these folks will need the work and I won't be using them. If you are looking for window repair or servicing in the Summit County area, look further west to the Vail Valley or Eagle area. Summit County has so few, and the one I thought was the best fit is unresponsive.
