I recently went on a trip to Costa Rica and on the way there everything was perfectly fine. On the way home we got delayed three hours stating that there was a malfunction with the plane and they had to get a new plane which fine whatever. We finally board on the plane twenty minutes in the pilot comes on and apologies "apparently the problem wasn't fixed "so not only were we DELAYED but they did not get us a new plane and the air conditioner broke 20 minutes in on a four hour flight. You don't think you need air conditioning on a plane, but you do I got so hot and nauseous it was awful. No apologizes from anyone During the flight the pilot comes over and says UNFORTUNATELY we cannot stop at our flight due to the customs at North. Carolina closes at 9 and we were late so we were now flying into Miami Florida ?? Okay whatever they said we would get off the plane go through customs and then get right back on ... we had already missed out connecting flight home so whatever. We're siting in Miami ... they tell us we're boarding at midnight , then 1230, then 120, then 230... finally 3 AM they cancel our flight fully and say they don't have a pilot I go to walk over to their customer service to say like hey we are not going to miss our morning flight .. you know what these workers did .. LAUGH. No apologies .. nothing .. they were some of the rudest people I had EVER met. Okay so now at 4 am they are handing out food vouchers that expire in 2 hours .:: nothing in the airport is open and they are saying now the flight will leave at 5... Delayed again .. so we not miss our SECOND connecting flight. I finally call American Airlines because the workers at MIAMI are so rude and that woman on the phone was the only nice person and she got us the last two seats on a flight home to get there at 11 am. Thankfully we finally made it , but we reached out to American Airlines ... no apology .. no credit .. nothing. I refuse to fly with them ever again. It was by far the worst experience. read more

Omg. Just awful. Delayed with no updates. Yet tracking the incoming flight they knew the flight didn't even leave the previous location. Hours late. Then they hit the jetway when pulling in. Another delay. Boarded to be told that we had another delay. The pilot called for fuel as they arrived and they never fueled the plane. Then another delay. The cargo hold won't close. It's off alignment. Asked the flight crew if they at least stocked the galley. Wanted a glass of wine durning the flight after such a shit show of a day. She said to me "well it could be bumpy and it's a short flight from Buffalo to dc so probably not ". I asked that since we are in first most offer water and wind wine before take off could we get it now? She had to pause and think about it knowing we were just told we had to wait for the fuel about 15-20 min. Unbelievable horrible service The worst part was when we were finally told we were able to push back all the flight. Attendance comments were just another normal day. They even joked and said that it's normally like a Tuesday, but today was Thursday. Sad state of affairs that this is normal for their staff and just think of all the passengers who pay for such shitty service. I know the next queue is gonna be how do I rate the service and it's I think one through five the problem is there's not a place to put a zero so let it be said I rate you as a negative well below zero. I was right it asked for a star rating. It won't let me proceed and the lowest I can pick us up one you need to change that. read more

Lost my bag. Can't get in touch with anyone at their service number. They said they'd deliver my bag and now they won't answer my call.

Went to AA's BUF baggage office asking for instructions to deliver delayed baggage. AA agent in uniform yelled at me and tell me to google it myself. After setting up delivery with online chat agent, baggage was never delivered. On the day before going home, I reached out to AA chat assistance again. The delivery was arranged with FedEx, chat agent asked me to call FedEx myself to handle delivery. FedEx confirmed shipping label was created days ago, but pickup was never arranged. In the end, I had to return to BUF baggage office to retrieve baggage myself with FedEx shipping label still on the luggage. read more

Yet another excellent trip on AA! I fly American Airlines weekly and nearly all my trips are on time and provided by friendly staff. I read complaints on many social media sites about them, but I read the same complaints about all the other airlines too... so, how serious is the whining being taken if many are saying the same about all airlines? I have had many issues over the years with many different airlines, but have settled on American because they're the most consistent to keep my travels going smooth. read more

We missed a once in a lifetime vacation with 16 family members from all over the country due to your continued cancellation of flights and horrible customer service. Even my travel agent stated she will never work with American Airlines again. read more

So pathetic, after 12+ hours at DCA , land in Buffalo. Sitting on the runway because American has no crew at the gates. Should companies w/o enough employees be allowed to operate? On Monday night into Tuesday morning after the storms my flight was finally cancelled at around 12:30 am because no flight attendant was available. Department of Transportation once again, should companies without enough employees be allowed to operate? Especially, while the CEO and company is making record profits? read more

Landed here coming from LGA. Unfortunately once landing the gate was short staffed so we had to sit on the runway for 30ish minutes. The staff was apologetic but it was a bit frustrating. Luckily it wasn't after a super long flight but it was late and I just wanted to get to my hotel. read more

American Airlines snacks are busiin 4 years ago nice apple juice nice protein chips nice biscoff

After delaying my flight in perfect condition weather in Salt Lake City, we get to Charlotte NC and sit on the tarmac for 35 minutes. No where to deplane! As soon as I get off the plane I ask the gate agent if I'll make it and she says yes ! I had to run from D to A!! I get there and the flight is closed! No compensation, everything is the airport is closed. No hotel! And the gate agents were so ignorant! How do you leave an entire flight of people stranded?? @American did this to me in April, I had to sleep at the airport. What horrible customer service !! I had to get a cab and a hotel ($207) on my own! Not to mention leaving me in unfamiliar area that was sooo shady!! read more

American Airlines - American Airlines - Airlines Near Me - Buffalo, New York

Got on a plane to leave from El Paso to come home to Buffalo and the plane broke before we could taxi from the gate, we sat on the plane for 2+ hours because there was no mechanic on duty, while the flight attendant just said you get off you get off, your bags will show up eventually but that's your problem and after the mechanic showed up and fixed it we missed all of our connections, we were rerouted all around the country (literally made and extra trip through Florida) and had my travel day extended by 11 hours.... American Airlines response when I made a complaint and recommended they should have at least one mechanic on duty during operating hours so passengers don't have their travel days doubled and spend a ton of money on meals in airports waiting? He's $25 bucks towards an airplane ticket.... I will NEVER fly American again.... I would recommend you don't either. read more

I had a flight scheduled last Wednesday at 6:30 am and I'm still in line to check my bag. Y'all should offer breakfast or some sort of snack if I'm gonna be holding these accoutrements for a week!! Golly!! Come on AA!! I am tired!! read more

I've always heard good things about this airline, but two days ago proved them all wrong. We arrived at the airport and were turned away from our flight due to being "5 minutes late" even though I have the app on my phone and the plane hadn't even started boarding. They put us on a standby list for a flight that would be two hours later than our original. When we got to the gate to wait on standby, I checked the app to get an update. The plane still had not taken off. We could have boarded our our original flight. Anyway, the standby flight was able to get us on, but once boarded we had to wait 40 minutes to take off due to "catering issues." I would land with 5 minutes to make my connection flight. My original flight would have given me an hour plus to get to the connection. I sat with a nice lady and gentleman on the plane who told me that they were Priority members and this happens all the time. They said they were considering never flying with them again because it is always always delayed like this and the staff is rude and unhelpful. When we got to our destination, we spent an hour outside because the jet bridge had broken. After getting off the plane, I discovered that they had lost on of our bags! One of our bags were back home with us and the other had gotten left in the connection location. NO ONE was apologetic and two agents actually rolled their eyes at me because it was busy and I guess I was being annoying. I was offered no voucher for the inconvenience or anything. I even had to come back to the airport to get my luggage that THEY LEFT. It was not even delivered! I will never fly with American again. read more

Special thanks to Rhonda for accommodating last minute adjustments for my wife and I for a series of delays on our transit from Buffalo to Ontario! Crossing fingers that we make our connecting flight. Not all heros wear capes! Thanks so much, Rhonda! :) read more

Because we have an Aviator red mastercard and earn frequent flyer miles, we use American airlines frequently. Service is quite different depending on airport, flight crew etc. Our last flight was outstanding but we redeemed our miles for first class to Hawaii. All of ur flights were mostly on time and the crew provided exceptional service. On one flight we even had a chance to chat with the captain! The meals served in first class were unbelievable. Filet mignon and shrimp? on an airplane! and wine, beer or liquor. The seats that lay flat for the 8 and 1/2 hr flight were very comfy, blanket, pillow and noise cancelling headphones included and your own personnel TV with remote, movies,on demand, live TV and video games. I was totally spoiled but now have to return to business class and save up miles again! I guess loyalty pays! read more

There is only one star being given because I cannot post a review without it. If zero was an option that's what this review would have. I've had bad experiences with American before, but the BUF airport takes the top spot. If you enjoy having employees raise their voice to you while allowing other passengers to do the same and being treated like a 4 year old who's going to time out then this would be right up your alley... I don't personally enjoy that kind of thing by anyone, especially in a public place by an employee who is supposed to be helping me. After I left the gate and had to go all the way back to the front desk for check in I was informed that the mistreatment and attitude is common from this individual at the gate and so I filed a formal complaint with American via their website. The response was just as bad stating that they take complaints seriously and will provide proper training..... well as a (now former) American customer that's not really reassuring that I'm not going to be treated the same again so I'm not willing to even try. If you don't have 'status' with American you are a peasant fool who knows nothing and will be treated as such. Consider yourself warned !! read more

Come on American air, get your stuff together! We traveled American air Vegas to Chicago. Once on the tarmac, we were delayed 40 minutes. Why? The pilots had to change out the bulbs and forgot to update the log book and complete the paperwork. Sweaty and stressed after the delay, we made our way through O'Hare. Oh, no need to rush because another delay. Almost expecting a delay as it was a evening flight, the delay was only 30 minutes and we were swiftly boarded. Yay! Almost home. American air had to refuel. The guy doing so, was not paying attention and did not connect the hose to the plane so gasoline was pouring out all over the plane and ground. This took 2 hours to clean. Maybe we should have been deplaned as this was a fire hazard?! Next flights I'll probably be booking with my old faithful airlines; jet blue and delta. read more

We flew to St. Louis with a stop at Philadelphia. My husband is disabled, and we brought his rollator walker on the trip. We both liked that we had assigned seats, as we both decided that the process at Southwest Airlines is ridiculous. The seats were comfortable and leg room seemed a little roomier than SW. Don used the rollator to walk to the plane, then it was checked until we landed in Philly. Upon landing, I saw the luggage workers tossing all the items from the plane onto the conveyor belt. The rollator arm was damaged on the left side. Our connecting flight was leaving in 30 minutes, so we didn't do anything about it. When we got to St. Louis, not only were both arms of the walker damaged, but the wheels didn't move. We were directed to the baggage area to report the damage. The staff was wonderful, sent a replacement rollator to our hotel. They called later to say the frame on the rollator was broken and could not be repaired, so they sent a new one to our house. While I was very satisfied with the way the airline took care of the problem I was horrified that a piece of medical equipment would be thrown around. read more

American Airlines is filling flights 100% during this pandemic. It's infuriating and shows their greed; putting profits before their customer's safety. (I had to travel for a family emergency unfortunately). Upon landing at our destination, a flight attendant announced "in the interest of your safety and physical distancing during this pandemic, please stay in your seat until the row in front of you has made their way out." Laughable. They weren't concerned about our safety during the last 2 hours while in the air! read more

If your checked bag is heavier than 50 pounds and you are not flying first class be prepared to pay a $100 fee. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay for the first class upgrade so that you can check your heavy bag for free. Never the less, the American Airlines operations and the local Buffalo team seems to be efficient and helpful as compared to others. Also TSA at the Buffalo Airport is thorough and processes long lines of travelers very quickly which is a big plus. read more

This airline sucks they barely give food and there's barely any flight attendants to help people and the planes are so small.

The worst airline I ever flew with. Made me miss two connecting flights two times in a row when I've flown with them. Staff are rude sometimes too. I do not recommend this airline at all. Currently waiting to get on my flight that was supposed to board two hours ago. This has happened multiple times causing me to miss my next flight and getting stuck overnight in another city. Horrible. read more

I haven't flown American in quite some time, and was reminded why! We recently flew them to FL with our 16 month old, who is a lap infant. We have taken multiple flights with him on other airlines and have never had an issue. Weeks in advance my husband called 3 separate times to verify our son being on the reservation, as it wasn't showing up online. They confirmed all three times he was on the reservation and not to worry about it. Fast forward, we get to the airport and there is STILL no record of our son on the reservation. Rather than just handling it, the service agent was incredibly rude. He looked at my husband and said "I don't see a baby." I was 50 ft away sitting down with our kid because he was sleeping. Surprise the obvious baby gear like our stroller didn't give it away. After a few mins of this, our son was finally issued a lap infant ticket. We made it to our destination okay, and we were happy to have our flight issues for the vacation...or so we thought. Fast forward to our return flight home. The service agent the first day only added our son to the first portion of the reservation not our return flights. So we had to deal with all of it again! The next service agent then issued the lap infant ticket under the wrong adult. When told her, she told us it was "fine and no big deal" we told her it needed to be corrected because the adult in our party who it was issues for had already been issued a separate boarding pass and was already in line for security. Finally she issued another one under my name. Despite arriving at the airport over 2 hours early, we almost missed our flight because of all of this non sense. We flew American to save money but next time I would pay extra NOT to have to fly them! Easy to see why they are the worst airline in America. read more

My first vacation using American Airlines my trip was delayed for hours because they had to fly in a aircraft pilot causing me to miss my connecting flight in Baltimore. Yes, I demanded room and board. Just recently my 5:30 AM flight was cancelled causing us to lose a whole day of our vacation. American Airlines didnt see anything wrong with it. They changed our gates multiple times not always notifying us of the changes. We came very close to missing our flight back home because last minute changing the gate and a huge LACK OF COMMUNICATION. You would not believe how many delays and cancellations we observed while sittong in the airport. The saying goes you get what you pay for!! In the long run its just not worth it! Fly Jet Blue or Delta!!! Then American Airlines said "give them another chance." At my expense? NEVER!!! If I could rate them a negatve star I would! read more
