Breathtaking Experience was incredible The second time I was sitting in the bottom sections 28 & 29 behind the TV (according to the Rio Tinto Stadium seating charts www.http://riotintostadium.com/seating-charts/) Great Parking across the street by Jordan Commons for $5-7.00 Free Real Soccer Mugs were handed out at the end Seats SUCKED!! You can't see anything! Sure you can see men running and kicking, but that's about it. The big screen TV monitor is behind you! The whole time I had to turn around to see what was going on. "Who's that player who just scored?" "Hey! That was a foul! ..?" "OFF SIDES!" "Who just streaked across the field?" "I could've sworn that was a handball!" "I hate my life." "Screw you ref!" "Did he just spit?" "Now, why did he get a red card? I mean yellow.. Oh, never mind he was just stretching..." These are all things you'll be saying and more if you don't pick the proper seats. I love the RioT and we're lucky to have such a nice stadium here. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Watch out for the East corners during the summer or afternoon games though, the sun becomes a real doozy. There are some great fans that you'll meet anywhere in the stadium. Beware of the supporters sections if you aren't a fan of constant bass drums beating the entire game - la Barra doesn't stop. There's a good variety of concessions options at Rio Tinto - my favorite is the bbq nacho's place which is on the west side right behind the Zion's Bank seats. Super tasty and I can never finish the whole thing for $10. You can't bring any water into the stadium, but you're allowed to bring empty bottles and fill them at the water fountains. (I don't advocate bringing anything else in, but the security isn't exactly tight.) Also, pro tip, keep a look out for things like Ford Zone tickets during the RSL matches which is what I did a lot this season. You can often find those tickets on sale for $10 or less, and they come with hot dogs, soda, and popcorn included. I sold my season tickets, bought those for less, and scored free food to boot. Makes the stadium much more wallet-friendly. I love living in a city that sells out games and provides an awesome atmosphere for watching soccer. A lot of stadiums and sports venues like to claim that "there is not a bad seat in the house!" This is absolutely true with The Riot. What a first-rate place to watch a soccer game! The only complaints I might have are 1) The actual seats/chairs are the really cheap plastic variety with no arms. I'd have no problem giving Rio Tinto a full five-star rating.... but for a large lad like myself... the seats are a little flimsy and small. The designers and/or owners could have spent a little more per seat and got some decent, more substantial plastic and metal seats. 2) I didn't really care for the segregated concession-stands idea, either... you had to be sitting in a certain part of the stadium in order to get into line at the stand that was nearest to our section...but I can see why they do it this way! 3) Parking is a zoo.... not quite a "nightmare" scenario... but it's pretty wild. On big game nights that are near sell-outs... both the the traffic and the parking around the stadium are crazy...so it's best to come early and stay late! My husband and I decided to get season tickets to the RSL games this year. I absolutely love our seats. They are front row, North East corner. The reason I gave the stadium four stars instead of 5 is due to security people who continually block my view when watching the game. I understand the importance of having security but they caused me to miss seeing two goals scored in last game against NYC. read more

Terrible acoustics and poor stage setup at Kenny Chesney Concert. It was very hard to see who was on stage let alone hear them well. May have been better if closer to the stage, but stadium is nowhere near the concert venue that Usana Amphitheater is. Concession service was slow, they should have separate beer carts like at the Bees games so it keeps the two lines separate. $9 beers for Bud or Bud Light. Coronas ran out before Kenny even played and bottled water was gone before the concert ended.. This was the worst concert I have been too. Will not go to another concert here again and probably not a Real game seeing the concession prices. read more

I have a blast every time I come here for rsl games. You would be wise to park and ride though because with the nightmare that is traffic and parking down here it can be expensive and a hassle, I'd rather spend the money on beer than parking but both are expensive. Other than that the view is great from everywhere. They could use more restrooms though if you're drinking lots of beer. But that's always the case. I love walking up to the stadium and hearing the crowd going nuts, it always gives me goosebumps. read more

Its so Salt Lake City that the boys of summer in SLC are a MLS Soccer team. But until that fateful day when we rise above Triple A baseball, Rio Tinto and Salt Lake Real soccer will have to do. I've probably been here more than most and I also have an ivory tower type of experience with the stadium. The company I'm with has a luxury box at the stadium on the 4th floor near the south end of the stadium and reserved parking in the west lot. So thats my fair warning that this may not be the most applicable review for Johnny Soccer paying 15 bucks for a Colonel's Corner seat in the General Admission area. I have a little experience with MLS soccer venues, I've been to two others (FC Dallas & Seattle Sounders) and in terms of MLS fans that probably makes me well traveled. From a MLS standpoint, Rio Tinto stands above many other facilities because it was a purpose built stadium for Soccer. This means that the site lines are great from almost every seat in the stadium and they keep the tickets cheap because they're not having to support a NFL field sized experience. In terms of seeing concerts there, I've only seen one, KISS. The acoustics from the box level were pretty mediocre. I'm sure at ground level it would have been much better. And since KISS wasn't exactly a sellout, it seems that they should only have concerts there that really pack the place. Energy Solutions probably is a more intimate stadium venue for medium sized concert events. We order the same food package every time for our box and I assume that some of the same food is available from the different vendors or the restaurant too. There are a few standouts with the food pack we get which are the Chicken Wings and Kettle Chips. The Chicken Wings seem to only come in one sauce, HOT. I like hot wings but I can't eat more than 4 of these in a row before breaking to wipe my burning lips of with water. We had them one time not tossed in the sauce with it on the side but it seems that was actually a mistake. I encourage the usage of the blue-ranch-cheese sauce for a more comfortable experience. The second standout are the Kettle Chips. They make them at the stadium and they are just great. I don't think anyone has been through the box without commenting on how good the chips are. It catches everyone by surprise. If you like Kettle Chips find where else these are served in the stadium, its worth it. So until SLC gets summer MLB baseball (I can dream right?), soccer will have to do. But its generally a pleasure to watch it at Rio Tinto. read more

Okay let me start off by saying I'm not really a soccer fan at all. But this stadium is pretty cool. The signage is a little confusing and unclear in the stairwells making it hard at times to figure out where you are going. But other than that everything is pretty clear and easy when it comes to finding your seat. The Bud Club bar is pretty cool as well. Also on one of my visits I lost my wallet. I was able to easily retrieve it the following day from the office, and that staff was great about it, and best of all nothing was missing. Not even the cash! So all in all I think this stadium is a pretty great experience. So if you have the chance to go check out an event here you should. read more

I love coming to games here! The cheap seats are really not a bad deal and are almost better because you are under a roof (if there is weather) and you can see the whole game and follow along! The south end of the stadium has the fan band that literally chants and plays music the entire time. It's hilarious. Everyone there has some kind of Real gear on so be sure to swing by Smith's on your way to pick up a scarf or beanie so you aren't the odd man out. There is plenty of parking that is free on the outskirts if you are up to walking for a few minutes. Night games can get chilly, so dress accordingly! Also, if you are a sports fan who likes a drink in hand while at the game, make sure you don't buy tickets for the no booze section! Go Real! read more

It's unfortunate that REAL Salt Lake doesn't actually play in the city of Salt Lake. I think this is rather deceiving to tourists and they really should change the name. Parking at this place is a total nightmare unless you have season tickets. If you don't, you basically have no options because the only lots are nearby businesses and they will ticket you. The beer at the stadium is also REAL expensive! The only good think I have to say about this place is that all of the seats are good and it's easy to see the game from anywhere. read more

I love this stadium. The designers and builders built and designed this stadium well. Their roofing design preserves the sound to lean more toward the field/seats rather than have the sound be released into the air. It shows that these people who designed the stadium care for the team and fans in order to make this stadium fortress it once was in the previous years like 2013, 2014 etc. except for 2015. Their staff members are nice to the fans. They aren't rude and the food that the stadium serves is Phenomenal. And the seats are comfortable so come and enjoy what this stadium has to offer such as allowing the fans to go onto the field after 2 games in July. The reason for this is for the fans to enjoy the fireworks for the 4th of July and Pioneer day. read more
