I've been coming to America First Field (formerly Rio Tinto Stadium, affectionately known as "The RioT") for Real Salt Lake MLS games for over six years now, and it's always a fun experience. The stadium has a great soccer vibe, and the unpadded plastic seats are comfortable enough to enjoy the game for a few hours. There are plenty of snack and drink options, though be prepared for the typical stadium prices that are on the high side. If you're flexible, waiting for last-minute seats can sometimes score you a bargain, which is always nice. The stadium does have some accessibility challenges for ADA and wheelchair users. There's only one place to store mobility scooters, so if your seats are on the opposite side of the stadium, it can be quite a trek. It definitely helps to have someone with you. I had to ride and drop my mom's scooter when the two of us went to a Real Salt Lake game last summer, which was a bit cumbersome but still manageable with planning. The stadium is well laid out and there isn't a truly terribly seat in the whole venue. It's designed perfectly so it's easy in and easy out, and I have zero complaints about the game day experience over the years. The team store is terrific as well, with tons of great merchandise if you need to get outfitted as a fan. While the name is now pretty generic and boring, America First Field is a solid spot for MLS soccer. It captures that local soccer energy perfectly, and I always have a great time cheering on Real Salt Lake despite the minor accessibility hurdles and pricey concessions. read more

I went to the Royals closing game and had SO MUCH fun. I was invited by some family to sit in a box, which definitely made the experience better. We got front row parking and everyone was so nice and helpful in the entrance we went in. They have some really good food/drink options at the stadium like jdawgs and fizz as well as the basics (churros, kettle corn, pretzels, etc). My one big complaint is that all their sodas are in plastic bottles rather than the fountain much I would prefer. I would also recommend sitting on the west side of the stadium to enjoy the Mountain View's. Absolutely stunning. Also the Royals won!!! Wooo!! Go Royals! read more

I was here for the first time to watch the ladies soccer team. Parking can be tricky, but there is a nice pickup and drop off Area which I utilized. Getting into the stadium was fairly easy. Just make sure you follow the bag policy. At first glance, the stadium was bright cheery and easy to navigate. There are plenty of options for food and beverage and with observation of the field, there is no bad seat in the stadium. If you happen to be towards the lower sections, there is no shade, so it can tend to be a bit sunny, make sure to wear a hat and sunglasses. The game was exciting and there is two big jumbotrons if you choose to watch that over the actual players. Overall, great experience I will definitely be back read more

Came by for Pups at the Pitch, which was so much fun by the way. Getting in was a little chaotic at the gate, which is understandable with all the dogs. Ambiance was great, arena was clean, and had great offerings of food/beverages. Our lil pup really enjoyed his time, and the Royals got a win out of it! We will definitely be back! read more

Came here for an event hosted by Sutter Health. The event was held during a girls soccer game (FC vs Bay Area Cali). Since I'm from Bay Area, I had to route for my hometown team. Really nice event from Sutter. The stadium is clean and well organized. The vendors are just okay....got a churro (for $6!!!) expected it to be amazing at that price but it was dry and just like any other churro. The price of beer is pretty insane so I decided to skip out. Ide like to go for another event, but won't be buying any vendor food as it's just too expensive and mediocre - I guess like most stadium food. read more

Any day here is a good day. It's just that much better when your team wins. It's one of the best places to spend your weekend, whether you're a die-hard fan or a newcomer. They have food trucks set up outside a few hours before the game so that you can munch on everything from empanadas to gourmet donuts to nutella-filled churros. Plus, they have sponsors that usually offer prizes and games to play. It's so family friendly. Once the actual gates open, it's so easy to get to your seats and there are a ton of other food options (Cupbop is a favorite). But there are Dole whips, chimichurri sandwiches, and your usual fast food fare as well. If you really want to rep the team, there's a store too that you can shop in before the game starts. The seats are standard--nothing fancy--but comfortable enough for the game and the energy in the stadium is always top notch. And honestly? Parking and traffic getting out the stadium is the chillest I've ever experienced for an event, so whatever they're doing... A+. New name, same great venue. This venue is always exceptionally clean. They take good care of the patrons (especially when the weather is less than ideal.) The current food vendors are okay...some better than others. The cost of a beer/canned cocktail is outrageous but what stadium isn't charging an arm and a leg these days. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE SECURITY? A woman and her family took my 14 year old daughter and her friend's seats. When she showed them her ticket and pointed out her belongings were still sitting next to her seat the woman replied "she didn't care. Find somewhere else to sit". My daughter's friend went to get security only to be told "there was nothing he could do". They showed him their tickets and even the people around them telling the security guard "Louis" that my daughter and her friends were sitting there. He told them they needed to leave or be escorted out. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? OH IT GETS WORSE!! After standing at the top of the stadium in the 97° heat for a good portion of the game, my daughter and her friends decided to go buy another drink. (Who would take their standing seats). While standing in line, my daughter's friend PASSES OUT AND HITS HIS HEAD ON THE CONCRETE. Look it up! There is an incident report. The police and ambulance came. Heat exhaustion really? Could that be from STANDING AT THE TOP OF THE STADIUM FOR SO LONG? Did I mention my daughter and her friends were separated from the adult in their group because my daughter's friend had on the opposing team's jersey? What kind of shit show is this? My daughter is traumatized and said she never wants to go to another REAL game ever again. It was awful. read more

Rio Tinto Stadium is a great venue with a fantastic atmosphere to watch a soccer game. Known by Real Salt Lake fans as "The RioT," Rio Tinto Stadium also hosts some high school state championship soccer games and concerts. The plaza outside the stadium (to the east) usually has some pre-game festivities for fans coming to soccer games. Inside the stadium, the staff does a good job keeping the venue clean. I've had the opportunity to watch games from nearly all parts of the stadium (the executive club, a third-level suite, behind the goal, in the corners, and down the sideline) and can honestly say that you'll have a good view of the game from wherever you sit. Since games are generally in the afternoon/evening, the east side of the stadium will be directly in the sun for the longest, so keep that in mind when you're buying tickets (don't forget your sunscreen either). As of September 2021, Rio Tinto Stadium has a clear bag policy--guests with purses, non-clear bags (with the exception of diaper bags for infants), and clear bags bigger than the venue's allowed size will asked to take their bag back to the car at the entrance. This is not the fake salt lake. That's on the other side of town. Rio Tinto Stadium can be a real fortress at times and they use it as such. It almost didn't get built and the region almost lost the team because of that. But eventually it happened and it's been great for 12 or so years now. They've done nothing but great things for MLS and the region, even though they're not one of my personal favorite teams. Salt Lake have been one of the success stories of MLS coming out of nowhere in a region where you didn't expect a soccer team to do well, and they're actually doing really well. It's kind of an imposing area for people to fly into and play a soccer game and that's one of the reasons they do well at home. read more

I go to a lot of concerts with my wife. We need to park in the handicap section. Unfortunately , this venue doesn't provide enough handicap parking. So we ended up turning around and going home without seeing the concert. There was plenty of close parking for those with special passes. I've never seen anything like it. After purchasing tickets and driving 2 hours in rush hour traffic, we ended up dealing with dismissive parking attendants. I've been to plenty of concert venues. I don't care what kind of show is put on here, if your disabled, you better purchase whatever you need to in advance because this venue does not gaf. read more

Our office has RSL season tickets and I'm lucky enough to be able to attend most home games. The stadium itself is awesome and creates a great atmosphere for the games. The only reason they miss 5 stars is due to the lack of parking. Even with a parking pass with the season tickets, getting out of the 90th parking lot is ridiculous. Love the RioT! It's so exciting to live in a city with a real soccer stadium. I've seen many games here and always feel like the stadium experience was great. RioT staff are very pleasant, patient, and efficient. I like how the offer local food and beverage options, I wish there was more of this! The food trucks before the game and at halftime are fantastic, always something different. I really like the bar they added this year. Very classy. Wish you could bring the drinks into the seating areas from here though! Also love the executive club experience (which changes names periodically, used to be the Audi club?), although it's crazy that there are no bathrooms in there (you have to leave and use the main stadium bathrooms). I've seen Journey here in concert and was equally impressed with this venue for music. I was fortunate enough to sit in the suites and must say we got spoiled! I am a huge soccer fan so I just naturally love Rio Tinto Stadium. Real Salt Lake kicks some major trash. There is not a bad seat in this stadium so where ever you sit you will have a good view of the game. The food has a good selection from candied almonds, taco stands, churros, and your regulars of hot dogs, sandwiches, nachos, good ol' beer, and a few other choices. The lights are ultra bright during the night which just makes the whole game more pristine. A drawback of this stadium is parking. You have to either pay to get into a private lot or take Trax. There is some free parking if you look around the neighborhoods or down by Trax station but other than that you are out of luck. read more

If you get the chance, make it to one of the Real SLC games. It is truly a great fan experience, even if you aren't a soccer nut. I like hockey, so it is easy to appreciate the athleticism and teamwork involved in professional soccer. While working in SLC, there isn't always too much to do, and I had really been wanting to see a Real Salt Lake game, but they normally only play on the weekends. Fortunately, they had scheduled a Wednesday night makeup game, so this was my chance. Unfortunately, I had to attend the game by myself as none of my coworkers wanted to go. This didn't alter my resolve, as I took the TRAXX light rail down to the stadium, and I was so glad that I did. I picked up my ticket from an online site (StubHub or SeatGeek), and found a seat close to the shadier West side. This stadium was a great overall experience. There are some decent food options within the stadium (Mexican burritos or tacos) and a craft beer stand on the North end (long line at times, but worth the quality). The best part is that the fans are super into it, I loved all of the flying flags and scarf wearing fans (even in the heat). The drums in the South end really keep your adrenaline pumping as you watch the game (not sure how do they keep it up all game long, but they do). So as we continue out tour de MLS, we made a trip down to Salt Lake to catch RSL play Philly. RSL has one of the best front offices in the league and it seems to have trickled down to the team and fans. We parked along State Street on the south bound side (because we were headed south after the game). I'm surprised that we couldn't find any RSL sponsored parking (or any signs for it) and most people parked in 3rd party lots. We were a little bit early and lined up with other fans on the northwest side of the stadium. We would have walked around the outside of the stadium, but on one side there is a greenbelt, and we didn't really want to creep around the bushes. To make up for not walking around the stadium, we walked the concourse (we had an hour to kill!) mostly (for me) to observe what kind of food they had available. The main entrance (the NW corner) had the most variety of food (burrito plates, pizzas, candied nuts, churros, fancy hot dogs), but as you move away from the front, it becomes the standard pizza/hot dog/hamburger fare. I was also on a mission to find Rimando's Wit Beer. We eventually found it behind the south end bleachers. We settled on some pizza to share. It was pretty unremarkable. We debated the shape of the stadium a little bit. The stadium is essentially a bowl stadium with a sunken field (ie. once you enter, you have to walk down stairs to get to your seat). There are upper level seats along the sidelines, but there is only one level on the endlines. I argued that the stadium is technically a horseshoe stadium because the south section (supporters' section) were bleachers and there is a break in the main concourse at that point. We sat along the east side which was ok since the game started so late. The sunset was a little in our eyes, but it was fine because we came prepared! (Ok just a hat and sunglasses.) The view of the field was fantastic (25 yd line-ish), but I could see that the view from the corners might not have been so great. It was pretty easy to get out through the large gates on the NW side. It was a little dicey getting out of the parking lot since so many people were walking down State Street. Overall, it was a positive experience and really fun. I can see us coming back next time we're in the area. read more

I wish I could give negative stars! I attended a work Christmas party here and the bar company that runs the bar called Interform Bar scams the customers. I made a bar purchase of $18.19 at the bar, did not leave my card, signed for the transaction, sat back at my seat. An hour later one of the four bartenders came up to me and was like, I need your card again, it didn't go through. Didn't think anything of it. Two days later I find out from my bank, she also charged me $31.18 for lord only knows whos bill. My boyfriend was also charged $80 for 4 drinks. Something shady is going on back there. And they don't accept cash, how convenient. They are scamming customers and the customers prob don't even realize it. I called and spoke to Arturo, the supposed "manager", what a joke. Said he'd take care of it, and that I wasn't the first person to call and complain. Called him, texted, left voicemails and emails, and never replied. Already told my company about this so they do not use this facility for our party next year. What a shame to lose customer's because of scamming, shame on you and your company! read more

This is one of the most amazing and best stadiums in the mls. First of all, the suits are very first class by serving food and the view of the field. And also, this stadium has a very European feel to with with an American crowd. Plus, the team is very good, so when you go you'll probably get your money worth by an exiting game. read more

My family has had season tickets to the RSL for a few years now, and we love it! Every year the team gets better and the crowd gets louder! We love supporting our local, professional soccer team! Its a great stadium with friendly staff, and they always get us in super quickly. I love the wide variety of food available, although extremely overpriced, of course. Tip: One of the stadium's hidden gems is the Burrito place located at the middle of the north end of the stadium. We all go there every halftime and get their smothered burrito! It is delicious and close-ish to authentic. Another great recent addition is all the family friendly features. There is a playground for the kids to play on before the game, complete with a mini soccer field. We always find the stadium clean, safe, and love the new big screen! Tip: make sure to go to the July 4th or 24th game every year, they let you go onto the field after and have an AWESOME firework show with music! It is so much fun- make sure to bring a blanket! read more

Came for the light the riot event during lockdown. It sounded like a fun way to get out with the family but stay safe and away from others. The kids in our car were very excited. You pay per vehicle. This was a hot event, we waited about an hour in the car before getting through to the show. The show was cool, music timed with lights, a typical light show. The kids had fun, but nothing too fancy about it. It lasted about 30 minutes to drive through, overpriced for what you get. read more

Let me first begin with a quick retort, it's a bummer that your employment situation is less than pleasurable, however it really doesn't speak to the quality of the stadium, and or the experience of the events here. Of course $8 for a hot dog is ridiculous, and you'll run into bad customers anywhere but let's really talk about Rio Tinto for what it is. Being a season ticket holder for the U of U Football and our ReAL Salt Lake I feel I can speak to the quality, and experience at both stadiums easily. I can honestly say there's not a bad seat in the house at Rio Tinto. From the highest price seats on the west side of the stadium to the upper deck seats on the east side, from behind either goal, you have an up close and amazing view of the pitch. If you plan to go let me help with some info about the seating areas. Starting on the west side of the stadium. These seats are typically out of the sun, and you'll pay for it! Directly across the pitch on the east side you will look into the sun a little during an early game, but this is where my season tickets are, and I promise it's not a burden at all! Especially at almost half the price of the western equivalent. The upper deck is usually filled with the local soccer teams, and their families. There's an abundance of kids, and not to mention the travel section for the away fans (BOO). However these are great seats, and you have an amazing view of the game. The north goal area is yet another great place to watch a game, the view is a little different, but still a great vantage point, and fun to watch when the action is at the goal in front of you! Watching a goal being scored that close is amazing, and or watching Rimando stretch out and knock down an opposing attempt on goal, WHAT A SITE TO SEE! The south end is the rowdy section, a plethora of local fans that start hours before kick off and don't stop until well after the final whistle. It's a great section if you wanna get rowdy, and dance to the beat of a drum! (probably not best for the little ones) The box seats on the upper west side are immaculate! Great view, great service, and it's so much fun to sit back and enjoy the luxury! Try it at least once! Rio Tinto delivers on other occasions as well. The Bud Wiser/Royal Club is top notch, the staff are great, the bartenders really know how to take care of you, and the chef's are great! The acoustics, for concerts, and such are much better than expected, and lets be honest, it's no concert hall, but they deliver a great venue for a concert. All in all, I have to give Rio Tinto a 5 star review for all that it delivers on a consistent basis. Let's be real with ourselves, if you're looking for cheap food, and fun go to the mall and ride the carousel in the food court. If you're looking for a world class stadium, a top notch MLS team, and a great experience you will not be disappointed at Rio TInto! P.S. I have to say this place has got many upgrades from the past couple of years, new synthetic grass in the main entrance, and an area for kids to play before the BIG GAME. I'm not a Rsl fan but I always go when LOS ANGELES GALAXY plays Rsl. Being in a love soccer game is way more entertaining than watching it at home, even though I love watching soccer at home. Rio tinto always gives away FREE stuff before the game so make sure to show up at least 30-45 minutes early. read more

I love RSL soccer, and this stadium is a gem! Most Americans do not know how to appreciate soccer or futbol, but the Real fans are on point! The enrgy at every match (and mind you've, I've been to over 20) is unparalleled to any other group of fans I've watched with (DC, Houston, NYC). The tailgate parties are really fun, and the U92 crew is always there to keep the energy up! I've sat in the expensive and exclusive boxes before, but honestly, the best seats and crowd are in the north end of the stadium, just behind the home goal. That's the cheap section (about $15/ticket-ish) and where all the students and rowdy drinkers sit. They are the ones with faces painted, streamers that they throw on the field, and banners and drums beating. It's one hell of a good time! read more

Finally!!!!!!!!! A proper pitch and great action. Real's new Stadium was still under construction when I attended a game, but it's a totally different experience than Rice Eccles. No more football yardage lines and artificial turf. Not to mention that you can finally get a beer. The games are family friendly and it's a great way to bring the community together. I planning to attend a few more games this year. The food is pretty good. I would recommend the BBQ sandwich. It's a little messy and I just about dumped it on the person in from of me when Findley scored an amazing goal. Great start, but its time to get a few more choices of beer. The RioT is an awesome venue, especially since Real Salt Lake (RSL) used to have to play at Rice-Eccles stadium at the Univ of Utah. The RioT is soccer specific, intimate, always clean and well organized. The food of course, is expensive, but decent. It's also very accessible, not only is there stadium parking (which we never use) but across the street there's (paid) parking at Jordan Commons and a lot of the neighbors offer $5 parking. It's also very close to Trax (just a few blocks walk). There are no obstructed views at any seat at the RioT. But no seats have arm rests/cup holders. At first that was a little weird especially since people can crowd your seat when it's full, but you get used to it. read more

Rio Tinto and Real Salt Lake do not disappoint. I was just here for the game against Chivas USA and had a great time with a group of friends. This stadium is very intimate and every seat in the house has a great view to the action on the field. I like the fact that you can commute to the stadium on the Trax. Be advised that to get from the Trax station to Rio tinto is a short 10 - 15 minute walk. My only complaint about Rio Tinto is the exits once the game is over. There is no crowd control and people are walking into each other in every direction trying to get out of the stadium. read more

Had an awesome time at the RSL/San Jose game on 06/01/2013. Plenty of concessions, bathrooms abounding, and garbage cans everywhere. My only beef with the RIOT is section 33 smells like B.O., and the sound system can't handle the pounding bass of some of the music they play. Other than that, not a bad seat in the house! read more

Our first opportunity to visit Rio Tinto was to see Paul McCartney. (We are not soccer folks). - Not nearly enough handicap parking spots. - Off-duty Sandy cops (I think they were off duty..maybe not) wouldn't answer simple questions and yelled at us to "move on" ...and I mean yell. - Really expensive bottled water - 20 minute lines at the porta-johns on the field level. I paid $160 bucks for this abuse? McCartney gave us our moneys worth. But Rio Tinto hasn't yet learned how to properly handle a large concert crowd. read more
