Oooo it's a mystery play time! Let's see what happens

Value for money: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Food Quality: 5 Customer Service: 5 (friendly staff) Look and Feel (Ambiance): 5 Thank you, Come Again?: 5 Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy is one of my favorite places to catch a show. I've seen multiple productions here over the years, and each one has been consistently high quality--from the acting and costumes to the immersive staging and lighting. Tonight we're here for Murders of 1940, and I'm already impressed by the attention to detail and atmosphere. The space itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Whether you're in the Jewel Box or Centre Stage, the seating is comfortable and the sightlines are great. Parking is easy, and even during intermission, the bathroom lines move quickly--something you don't always get at larger venues. Now, this might be a controversial opinion, but I think the shows here are just as amazing as the ones I've seen in NYC. I've been to a few Broadway productions, and while they're incredible, the hassle of traffic, commuting, and navigating the city to get to the theater can be exhausting. Hale offers top-tier performances with easy access and a welcoming environment. If you're looking for a polished, professional theater experience without the big-city chaos, Hale Centre Theatre delivers.

This is only regarding the stage on the second theatre. We got seats in the top corner and we felt like we totally missed out on most of the play.....what happened to the round stage we were looking forward to? Just sucks. Miss the old theatre so I guess if you really want to see a play make sure it's the main play that is them Big theatre because if not you're gunna miss out and it feels like an after thought play.

Hale Center Theater has been one of my families favorite theatres for years now. We recently got the opportunity to go see Little Women. This show took place in the smaller theater, but the set was amazing! So many cool props, costumes, and actors. Such a good, classic story and this play did it justice! Attached a few pics of some of the decorations to show how detailed everything was. They always have amazing actresses/actors and great shows! Great for families, date night or a solo night to the theater!

Interior photo-op for The Time Machine outside the Jewel Box Theater in the Hale Center.

My wife and I both enjoy the Hale Centre Theater very much. The theater itself is convenient to the suburb we live in. Exterior fountains and statuary make great photo-ops. The interior is tastefully decorated and always has beautifully staged photo-ops specific to each show currently running. The theater, food concessions and restrooms are always kept immaculately clean for each performance, The largely volunteer staff is always helpful and courteous. Each production has a wonderfully talented professional staff. I was particularly impressed with the show we saw, "The Time Machine." If you've read the book or seen the film, you will be delighted to know that this is a completely revised retelling of the story that I believe everyone will enjoy. This show appears in the Jewel Box Theater and this smaller setting works beautifully for this particular story. Please note this show does make brief use of smoke and strobe lights in a few scenes so those sensitive to such things should be forewarned. We love the Health theater and give it our highest rating.

It's decorated very beautifully for Christmas (although, when went in April, it was practically bare, lol). We've watched A Christmas Carol and Clue here... and they were both great! However, I surprisingly liked Clue more. Both were very well acted and Clue was hysterical! The settings were also on point:) I went with a group of 4, and they all agreed! We'll definitely be back!

We had the most wonderful time here! I am a Broadway fanatic and have seen hundreds of plays across the US. The Newsies production at this theatre was FANTASTIC! I'm so glad we gave this place a try! The play was adapted well and the actors and dancers were top notch! The stage in the middle is round which I thought was so neat and different! It really adds to the excitement of the play and helps to ensure that everyone has a great 360 view! They have lots of candy, snacks and beverage choices. You can even pre-order for quick pick up during intermission. Bathrooms were nice and lines moved quickly. We can't wait to come back in December for ELF!

My first time at the new Hale theater. It's beautiful. Our play wasn't in the theater in the round, but the theater we were in was perfect for the play we saw. It's on the small size. (I'd say more intimate) loved loved loved the stadium seating. Isles are not wide, so think twice before getting up, and leaving the theater during the play/musical. Sound system was perfect, we could hear the actors on the back row. We could also see the couple in front of us (with their son between them) having a conversation throughout the whole dang musical. Which was so annoying. Look... if your child is just going to play games on his phone why bring him, and if you are going to talk the WHOLE time why buy a ticket? The dad at one point during the performance whipped out his phone, and started scrolling through his Facebook. REALLY! Anyone who has sat in a dark theater knows what a distraction the light on a phone is. Yes, Yes, I said something to the dad, despite my daughters being embarrassed. I paid good money to see a musical not to watch you scroll down Facebook. I've never heard of this Tony Award Winner Musical, and quite enjoyed it. Great acting and singing from the cast. I loved the fact that they didn't change the dialog from Italian, whether is was in song or dialog. We understood that it was a Romeo and Juliet type love story.

Some of the shows we see you were a little inconsistent or uneven, but the star attraction of the space is the stage and the environment which is top-notch. Is a fun space that's manage really well just be very selective about what shows you see.

    Les Miserables with my mom
    John C.

Went with my mom to see Les Miserables and was blown away. Seating was great from every angle with the stage in the middle. The lights and sound were amazing, had goosebumps on the song 'One day more'. Can't wait to see what other plays are coming to HCT.

At the end of Lucky Stiff Uncle Anthony throws these fake hundred off the stage into the audience - a highlight for this lucky boy:)
    Rebecca N.

It doesn't matter if it's a large production or a small one the quality of the cast, the costumes and set design always impresses. The circular theater cannot be beat! As season ticket holders we are always looking forward to our next night at HCT.

    Is the theater cold?

Always good to bring a jacket in these situations. I used my sarong and that helped. Another time I think I had a jacket. Always wise to be as prepared as possible.

I worried that the lawn experience might be like Usana where you're way, way back but this venue is much smaller, so you still feel like you're at the show. Everyone was really respectful but there were a number of kids running around. I was in the grass, but couldn't get over how much space was between seated rows, really nice. Still room to get up and dance or pass by. Ordering concessions through the phone app worked smoothly, but the tipping experience was frustrating. I bought an overpriced $8 packaged ice cream sandwich and was hit with a tip screen on the app that really tried to force you, it was hard to bypass even the "custom" tip field came pre-filled, and I had to manually type out to remove it. At $8 for an ice cream sandwich that I pickup myself, you'd think they could afford to take care of their employees.

Again, I am not even hanging out in. I'm merely passing through to get back and forth to my seat. I'm trying to have a good night, not be harassed by an old man for existing in a concert venue. I'm already on edge as a young woman at this venue, and the employees were incredibly unhelpful. The previous show I went to, a different older man yelled at me for taking a photo. How the heck am I supposed to enjoy myself here if I can't do anything? At least I got to see my favorite artist up close.

As with many of the other buildings along this road, it's older and has a lot of character-I'll bet it could tell some fascinating stories if the building could talk. I'd go to that play, fo' sho! The seating is fairly comfortable and there's not a bad spot in the house. You can see the stage from every angle. It's a smaller theater, which magnifies the intimacy of the productions put on here. I love that you can see the facial expression of the performers and are so close to the stage. This may not be the fanciest house in town, but there's something about being able to say you've been coming to this theater for generations and the nostalgia that comes along with the place.

Plenty of bonus points going out to the Midvale Performing Arts Center for being one of Utah's most…read morepronounced remaining examples of Art Deco architecture. There was much discussion some years ago about what to do with the building (it used to be City Hall, then was somewhat shuttered) and thanks to a large grant was turned into a theatre and offices. As a theater, it's quite adequate. The chairs were brought from a local high school auditorium that was being remodeled, so the orange and brown are not so sexy, but are not meant to be permanent. There are ongoing projects like upgrades to the sound system, and they certainly need to keep working on the lighting system. It's better than it was when the building was first re-purposed, but they're still working hard on funding a more robust setup. I've seen many shows, concerts, and other events here and it suits the purpose perfectly. You're apt to find the mayor in the audience some nights; it's just a community theater. While I'm not in love with the setup of the stage (it's not bad from the back, but starts to feel kind of high the further towards the front you sit) it's just great to have little places like this available to community groups. You can rent the theater for a modest fee, or see what shows are running there. Typically you will find community theater productions by The Midvale Arts Council, or shows produced by Pinnacle Acting Group, who do some lesser-known shows with some talented actors. Parking is limited, so you may have to park a block down at the new city hall and hoof it. Grab some food from the Taco street vendor before, and hit up Mexican food Leatherby's afterward. Lovely evening.
