The views are incredible and the stadium is so clean. I bought a soda and they had two diet selections with free refills throughout the game. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. The food choices were amazing. I walked around and saw they had Mexican street corn, watermelon with tajin, Vietnamese bowls, pizza, candy straws, flavored ice, and I ended up with a beef sausage. The folks in line recommended polish, but they were sold out. I got the beef and fries. My picture looks funny bc I don't eat bread. There is a bar for pickles, Jalapeños, onions, sauerkraut and sauces. I indulged on these pickles. It was delicious and well worth it, especially with the fries. read more

My son, my wife and I saw Monster Jam World Finals here over 4th of July weekend. My son and I have been to 3 World Finals. My son, my wife, and I have been to 2 World Finals. Out of the 3 World Finals I have been to, I disliked this one the most. The Monster track setup was actually pretty cool. I felt for a Monster Jam World Finals the venue itself was a little small compared to the other venues we had visited. With that many people the hallways became a little hard to navigate during intermissions with all the people in line for food and beverages. There were not a lot of good options for kids for food. A little disappointed there was not a dip 'n dots inside the stadium for the little kids. Also thought it was weird that the beverage even for soda was cutoff at 8:30 maybe that's Utah thing. We had tickets in section W08 which was nice because it was on the shaded side of the stadium. The seats in the stadium are bleachers except in a few sections. Our view for the event was really good. Overall, we had a good time the venue just was not as good as others we had been to. My Rating : BETTER. read more

Came here for a monster jam event to celebrates my toddlers birthday. I've been to a handful of stadiums like this in the past for various events and I can definitely say this was one of the better experiences I've had at one. The facility was very clean, and despite there being a TON of people there, I never felt too crowded and the employees were able to filter through the entrance line super fast. Went to a luke combs concert here. Great location, easy to get to. Staff is very friendly but this place can get packed! There isn't a very organized way to get merch or to the drink stands. I never know where the lines start at. Not sure if that is a stadium issue or something the concert company facilitates but it needs much improvement. We had floor seats and a great view. There was no cell service on the floor which was a bit concerning but overall I really liked this venue's location. We saw a really pretty rainbow before the concert started! After the show was over we waited about 20 mins for the uber surges to drop before catching a ride back to our hotel. I would love to come back for a Utes game in the future! read more

I love the Utes!! Third generation football season ticket holder. Fall is my favorite time of year, I count down to kickoff annually. Games at Rice-Eccles are a blast, so much fun! Parking is now paid and assigned by the university. Trax is probably the way to go if you don't have a pass. The only downside is they have expanded the stadium a couple of times now and just set a record for their largest crowd at just over 53,000 people. And they haven't increased the concession area or entrances at all. They've added food kiosks and vendors that have congested the concourse even further. The lines are ridiculously long and you should avoid the north hallway at all costs before and after the games. It's not even safe and moves so slowly it takes 15-20 minutes to move 4 portals. And a couple of years ago the switched from Coke to Pepsi, what were they thinking? The food offerings have gotten better over the years, but we usually tailgate and don't eat at the stadium much. read more

I've been to this stadium quite a few times. I've been to football games, concerts, and conventions. Recently I saw a couple of concerts here (Garth Brooks and Imagine Dragons). This stadium was an awesome location for both of these concerts! It was easy to take trax in, get through security, and find our seats. There were plenty of bathrooms (we went when we got there and there was no line) and plenty of places to get food and water. My only suggestion would be to pick seats on the West side. We were on the East side and were being blinded and burnt alive by the blazing sun until it finally went down. From here on out we'll definitely get seats on the West side. All in all, this is a great venue for concerts. We love how we can take trax right to the stadium. Makes for an easy commute. We'll definitely see another concert here in the future! read more

I surprised my husband with tickets to the Utes last football game of the official season and it was a blast! We were in N22 Row 10, and they were so close to the north end-zone and all the action! It had been about 7 years since the last time I attended a football game here and the stadium has gone through some renovations and additions! It was great! Lots of bathrooms and water stations, which is great for those who don't want to buy a $4 water bottle or $7 soda with souvenir cup. We wanted some cups, so I got in line about 10 minutes before half-time and I ended up waiting in line for about 15 minutes, not terrible. I had been told by friends, that if you wait til the end of the game and people have cleared out of the stadium, that you can grab whatever cups are on the ground if you want more souvenir cups. FYI The Utes won that night and we did too! We had a great time! Definitely bring portable bleacher seats if you have a spot in the bleachers. We borrowed some from a friend and they made the game a lot more enjoyable! read more

Came to Rice-Eccles stadium for a Luke Combs concert! The Uber dropped us off directly in front of the entrance, very simple to scan your tickets and get in. There were a ton of people there, as expected to see a great artist, so the beer lines were a little long and crazy, but they moved very fast once you were in line. We were down on the floor seating of the stadium, where they had their own merchandise and food/alcohol tents for the fans with tickets in that location. If you are in the floor seating, you will have to go up to the main concourse to use the restroom. The lines for the restrooms weren't bad at all, as it seems they had quite a few of them! Once leaving, the lines for Uber were pretty long, but we hung out for a while outside the well lit stadium, and waited for the crowd to die down. Plenty of police and staff present to direct crowd traffic. Uber picked us up right outside the exit and it was a very easy process. All in all it was a very easy stadium/venue to enter and exit, as well as to watch a concert. I'd love to come back for a football game! read more

Went to see George Strait and paid extra for floor seats. It took over an hour to get in. Gates opened at 5pm and we were there. By the time we got in, the concert had already started. The staff was incompetent and could not even answer the basic questions for us about services inside the stadium. It seems they have never handled more than 500 people for an event and they probably messed that up. read more

Outside of the coolness of events in this place, RES has great facilities. Recent upgrades have brought tons of water filling stations and expanded bathrooms. There are great eats on 3 sides of the stadium and you can find typical fair (hot dogs, pretzels, churros, etc) all the way to great food truck fare. Bring your wallet because food and beverage will set you back. Fan control seems to be a priority during football games and I like that. I'm not a prude but hey man, handle your high. Good security in the stands keep mini bottles in the bathroom where they belong and expletives yelled to a minimum. I feel comfortable bringing little ones here. A few things that would make it a bit better and get a fifth star from me: Clearer rules. Sometimes they allow empty UofU water bottles in to fill and sometimes they don't. When water is $4 a bottle, I prefer to bring in an empty Nalgene to fill myself. Speaking of $4 water, how about more than the first fifty bottles sold being cold? Hot bottled water sucks. It sucks even more when you charge through the nose for it. Seats. Time to start adding more. Bleachers are hard on the back and seats keep the guy next to you, well, next to you instead of on top of you. Audio / Visual. The system is old and doesn't carry well. Sitting on the North side means replays do you no good and you can only hear commercials clearly. HD LED technology is a must if we want a world class sports facility. read more

Very nice stadium for college football. I came here from Phoenix to watch a Cal vs Utah game and had fun (except for the score part...I'm a Cal grad and we got creamed). There was nothing in particular that stood out about the stadium, but that's actually a good thing IMO. Easy to get in and out of, no problem finding seats, good size stadium (not too big but still gets LOUD), friendly crowd, Lyft pick-up fairly close by. I didn't take advantage of concessions because we had a huge meal before coming in so I can't comment on that aspect. Overall though this is a solid place to watch a game. read more

This year I have had two separate and entirely distinct experiences at Rice Eccles Stadium. September 15, 2018: My first visit was for a disappointing 21-7 loss to the Washington Huskies, and I sat in the bleachers in the Northeast section of the stadium. Sight lines are great pretty much anywhere in the stadium, so that's not an issue. The food options at RES are good, though nothing too far out of the ordinary--basically just your standard dogs, phillys, pretzels and other traditional stadium fare (the REAL good eats are to be found in the Ute fans' massive pregame tailgating parties). However, the concourses of RES are always packed to the gills on game day, making it very difficult to get around at pretty much anytime during the game. Also, the team gear store is quite small, so again it can be a wee bit claustrophobic elbowing your way through a crowd just to get a new lid. Oh, and if you aren't a fan of long lines, don't even bother attempting to use the bathrooms between quarters or at halftime--it's just not right how long you have to wait. Finally, though I did both my undergrad and grad studies at the U and I am a big Utes fan, as a frequent traveler and visitor of stadiums and arenas around the country, I honestly and embarrassingly have to say that the RES crowd can be very inhospitable to opposing teams' fans (which frankly is just not right--it wouldn't be a great game without a good quality opponent, and I assume my fellow Utes fans would reciprocally appreciate not being treated like human waste when visiting an opposing teams' stadium, right?!? Let's keep it competitive AND classy Ute fans!). November 10, 2018: This visit to RES was a bit more upscale, having been invited to a Suite to watch the Utes' thrilling 32-25 defeat of the visiting Oregon Ducks. As to be expected, everything on the Suite levels is a step above (or several steps above) the lower bowl adventure previously described. On this November visit, they offered a full turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies meal complete with pumpkin pie and apple cobbler for dessert (and even had optional hotdogs for those that still wanted the full-on stadium experience). The Suites are roomy and comfortable, offer TVs for keeping track of other games and scores, and provide a decent variety beverages (though Coke lovers take note--this is a Pepsi only stadium, despite the fact that Coke red and Ute red would seem to be a perfect marriage). One of the nicest perks of Suite life at RES are the bathrooms. In particular, there is NO WAIT. In fact, both times I used the bathroom during the game (maybe I had one too many of those Pepsi products), I was the only person in the bathroom. Unbelievable, right?!? It would be nice if the Suite floors included team gear shops (even a mini version), so you could get some Utes swag up there. So, whether you are in the bleaches or in a Suite, RES is a good place to catch an exciting PAC-12 game, though the experiences can vary greatly once you get out and tour the facility. read more

Football games, motorcycle races, concerts, and even a massive choir celebration--I've certainly seen a diverse array of shows here at Rice-Eccles! And that's just the stadium. In the tower, I've been to some mighty impressive tasting events as well. Most people would know this spot as the home of the University of Utah football team. I've seen a handful of games here and enjoyed them, for sure. Most memorable was when a young kid named Alex Smith took over as starting quarterback for the Utes and well, that was fun to see this no-name guy come in and fire up the offense. The rest, as they say, is history. Throughout the other events, the stadium has proven itself to be very versatile. Concerts and choirs here are never totally ideal--it's a stadium for crying out loud--but it can be transformed for what seems like any occasion. They hauled in tons and tons (and tons!) of dirt and turned it into a supercross arena. One thing is constant, and this is the gripe with any big stadium. Parking is atrocious. With wonky campus rules, you really should take the train. And if that doesn't work, you can do what an increasing number of people do: park somewhat nearby, then take a car or a pedicab that will drop you at the doorstep. You could walk a mile or two just to get to your car. No exaggeration, unless you show up hours beforehand. Inside it's okay. Obviously you're going to get big lines at the restroom during halftime. But that's the nature of the beast. It's managed to stay pretty well updated, and with the brand new sports facilities on campus, you can see they have the money to spend. You can't beat the view, and I'm not talking about the field. There aren't too many bad seats, but I'm talking about the view of the valley. The U of U is a gorgeous campus with amazing views and Rice-Eccles offers some amazing vista of the Salt Lake Valley and the mountains in the background. read more

Don't judge, but I'm not really a sports spectator. I love playing sports, but I just never really watched on TV or live at an event. Not even at my college. This was the first time I've ever been in a big stadium or college stadium, and I was really impressed. Either it's because I don't have much to compare it to, or the U just knows how to get things done, but I was very impressed with the entire venue. The food options were, in a word, flabbergasting (probably not the correct word, but it felt right and necessary). I can have a churro, nachos, a brat, AND a pretzel? AND still go to dinner after? I can get down with that. Plus, all the staff on the facilities were super helpful in directing us and helping us find our seats, which were, by the way, much comfort than I'd expect. Great place, 10/10 would go again. P.S. We were there for supercross, and, although I stated earlier that I'm not a big spectator, the races have me itching to go see some other exciting event here. As a season ticket holder in The Muss, I have a little different view of this stadium than those of you who sit comfortable on bleachers with your 'lil butt pads. My section is rowdy and definitely feels overly crowded. I have been knocked over (usually only when there's a touchdown) on several occasions by the herd of freshman boys who have the bleacher in front of us. If you don't know what The Muss is, we're the Might Utah Student Section and though I paid for a seat, tradition is to stand for the entire game. It's exhausting for sure but so much more fun. We are definitely shoulder to shoulder and when things get start to get exciting we are all standing sideways, back to front to fit everyone in. I LOVE my Utes, but man oh man, this stadium is something else. They reallllllllllly need to expand the area where concessions and restrooms are located to accomodate the volume of people they cram into this stadium. Halftime becomes a mosh pit if you're lucky, but mostly just involves people standing around unable to move in the giant sardine can. While sitting/standing in the stadium, though, the views are great from just about anywhere. Go Utes!!!!! read more

As I look out this window for any excuse to put of studying for a Calculus 3 test, I notice the new score board of Rice-Eccles Stadium. I've been to Rice-Eccles for a couple of seasons worth of football games as well as a few other events. For football games, nothing is better. Every game has been sold out since 2010. The atmosphere can vary between games, but with the Pac-12 teams or any other decent visiting team the stadium is electric. Rice-Eccles consistently ranks as one of the loudest stadiums teams will visit. Four moments that I got to see here specifically come to mind...BYU losing 3 times in 3 plays, Travis Wilson scoring a game winning touchdown against USC in the final seconds, and just this season watching Taysom Hill completely fail on his two point conversion to lose the game as well as watching Utah come back from two touchdowns down against USC and win in the final seconds of the game. Great games and an atmosphere that watching from home just doesn't compare to. The food has also significantly improved now that they allow multiple food trucks in. Cupbop, Melty Way, a Thai truck, BBQ, and all sorts of other can be found. I also noticed that Cupbop has some spots inside the stadium that are generally less crowded than the truck. Of course there are still your typical concessions, but I haven't got a meal there since the food trucks came. A large drink can be bought for $4.50 that can be refilled for $2 as well. The new video and sound system are great. The sound system had a few hiccups the first game or two, but I haven't noticed anything since then. The new video board is huge and makes watching replays nice. I came here for the Nitro Circus World Tour and that made it easy to see slow-mo replays of the action. Some other quick facts...Bathroom lines can get long. There are plenty of entrances to make getting in easy. Your event ticket is usually a free pass for TRAX/Front Runner. Driving here will mean paying at a minimum $10 for parking and staying an extra hour or so on sold out events. Walk to the next TRAX station East of the stadium if you want a seat and onto the next train.....I think that's about it. Overall it's a great venue that hosts some fantastic events. Came here for a college football game as a visiting fan. We were seating in the corner in the lower level. It is a smaller quaint stadium and there really isn't a bad seat. From the West side of the stadium if you go to the top, you can see a great view of the Salt Lake City skyline. The stadium is also nestled in some gorgeous mountains. The teams come out of separate tunnels on the South side of the stadium. The home fans sitting next to us were nice and you can tell they are passionate about their team, but don't take it too seriously. Glad my team got the W. I've been to a lot of concert venues and honestly this location comes up lacking. I mean sure you go to a concert or sporting event you kinda expect to get screwed a little by the vendors and pay some inflated prices, but really this is just over the top. And they don't even have beer. But you'll be paying beer prices for a "collectors cup" of water. read more

You really can't beat this place for a football game. Since back around 2003 when Urban Meyer briefly was the coach of the Utah Utes, he transformed this place into a crazy environment, and that has stuck throughout the years. Locals already know this, visiting fans, if you're looking for a good road football game to go to, I'd put this environment at the top of the Pac-12. (I've been to Oregon when they were good, and I'd put them up there with Utah and from what I've heard, Washington is up there too). Skip USC and UCLA, terrible environments for college football especially UCLA. Besides the fact you can't get any beer, which is pretty common at college stadiums, you'll love your trip to Rice-Eccles!!! read more

This place holds a special place in my heart. I am a die-hard Ute fan- I've been to every home football game, except one (got sick when traveling. boo!), since 1998. I get that warm, fuzzy "I'm home" feeling when I walk into the south plaza. I watched the dress rehearsal for the 2002 Olympics opening ceremonies, I've performed dozens of times on the field, and I was lucky enough to see U2 there this summer. Can you tell I've been to the stadium a few times? The view from the tower is amazing. You can see the entire valley. The suites look comfy and warm if you're rich enough to have one for those cold November games and the place dresses up quite nicely for formal occasions like weddings and banquets. Parking can be painful on game days. The best strategy is to ride Trax or just arrive super-early and tailgate with your friends. More and more lots are getting reserved for Crimson Club passes, so you'll need to hunt around a bit or park in the neighborhoods surrounding the U. Leaving via Trax is not for the claustrophobic. The pack you on the train like sardines. Have you ever seen pictures of trains full of commuters taken in China or Japan? Yeah, it's like that. Who am I sir? A Utah man am I, a Utah man sir, I will be 'til I die! Go Utes! read more

I've only experienced Rice-Eccles during college football but from the different seats I've tried, the whole stadium has great views of the field. Of course the 50 yard line is always better but even if you walk to the top of the stadium, you still have great views of the game. The concessions are also good, they usually have several food options and smoothies or hot chocolate depending on the weather. But don't go get anything during halftime because you will spend most of the time stuck in line and will miss the start of the 3rd quarter. Also if you have a student ticket you can only go in at the gate on the east side of the stadium. There's really not much normal parking around the stadium but you can usually find something within walking distance. read more

I was a visiting fan for the Utah vs. #4 ranked Washington. I had come to the game fully expecting a horrible fan experience and could not believe the reception we received. Our tickets happened to be in the MUSS. Not the first place you want to go as a visiting fan wearing the visiting schools colors. When arriving at the stadium we were gladly welcomed by crowd services with a smile and a "Washington fans are welcome" greeting. We had trouble getting in and the patience of the crowd services was second to none. After arriving at our seats and settling in we were kindly welcomed by the fans around us and were assured by the crowd services that they would keep and eye on us. After the game started I began conversing with the group behind us and found out that we were in their seats. They said they didn't care and that we were welcome to stay there as long as we wanted. Crowd services came and checked on us twice during the game to make sure we were enjoying our experience. In the end not one fan gave us a bad time. Everyone told us how good our team was and how fun it was to have us there. I was expecting beer cans to be thrown at us and to be shoved and spit on. However, we were treated with class and dignity. In fact we were treated with love. I have never experienced an atmosphere like that as a visiting fan and I can only hope that fans everywhere can take note as to how to treat your "enemy". read more

They have only one concourse which made moving around unusually difficult. This place is home for my beloved Utah Utes so of course I love it. I practically live at the stadium during football season so it helps that it's nice. It may not be the biggest stadium in the country but it's just right. I've sat everywhere from the front row of the MUSS (sniff I miss those years) to the top (woo my first year as part of the Crimson Club) and on the 50 yard line and it's all fantastic. No matter where you sit, you've got a friend and a fellow Ute. The concession and walkway are a bit crazy and crowded just before the game starts, during halftime, and at the end but it's all part of the experience. It's fun to walk through the sea of red. The concessions are pretty standard and I do love that they have hot chocolate when the temperature drops. Give me a churro and I'll cheer my Utes on all day! Go Utes! read more
