My coworker tipped us off to Amelia's Kitchen food truck as a hidden, underappreciated gem in Fremont and it's true! Amelia and Juan don't skimp on their taco offerings. 4.7 stars on Yelp and 4.5 on Google for good reason. The cheesy gordita crunch at Taco Bell inflation pricing pales next to a freshly made Amelia's Taco Dorado (crunchy taco shell in a soft taco tortilla with the works of meat, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and her own salsa). The Tacos Supreme come with guac and sour cream and they also have regular tacos. We've also tried the al pastor fries and al pastor nachos. The carne asada fries are on our list to compare. TIP 1: They're listed as open on weekdays between 10 AM and 6 PM, but call to check as they sometimes close early when they sell out. TIP 2: Call ahead to give your order to Juan so you can pay, pickup and go (or pay and eat at one of their picnic tables). I've seen this truck on my drive home on numerous occasion. It always seemed busy too. I finally gave it a try and it was really good. I got the vegetarian supreme burrito and the vegetarian supreme taco. What I liked best about the burrito was the flavoring of the rice. I think this rice had the best consistencies and definitely flavors. So yum! The refried beans were good and I like how they placed the burrito on the grill so there was a nice cooked element to the tortilla. The vegetarian taco was good too. It was really messy because of the loaded guacamole, beans and sour cream, but it was really delicious. Ordered tacos dorado (a crispy shell and a soft torilla with melted cheese in between), one asada and one al pastor. They were a tad on the salty side, but were the perfect balance of succulent, juicy and crisp. I couldn't get the best read on the flavor of the proteins since there were so many elements going on, but I didn't come across any pieces of gristle so that is a good sign that they are using quality product. If I could give this place 10 'a I would. The service is 10 out of 10 and the food is fantastic. From the tacos, burrito's, nachos, quesadillas and the dorado taco's the flavor is so good and has the perfect spice. My husband showed me this truck and I have wanted it every week since. My favorite place to get tacos in Newark/Fremont. I've been on a tripas binge but not many restaurants offer tripas as a menu item. Luckily, this food truck does have it and although I like more crunch on my tripas, the tripas taco is still super delicious. I haven't tried the burritos or torta from this place. My friends who have tried the burritos have said that the burritos are ok, but the tacos are excellent. Definitely a must try! The downside of this place being a food truck is that sometimes they do catering and so you'll find that the food truck isn't at its normal spot. After two trips of the truck not being there, I've made it a habit to call beforehand to verify that the truck is on it's normal spot on Decoto. We were invited to Serena L's baby shower picnic in Washington Manor Park in San Leandro, and Amelia's Kitchen did all of the cooking! Apparently you can hire them for a few hours as an impromptu buffet. We arrived a bit later than most other guests, so we definitely went to town! Amelia's is definitely one of the better taco trucks I've been to. Here's a run down: 1. Their chicken tacos are among the best. Meat was moist and seasoned, and all it takes in a squirt of line, onions, cilantro for an awesome taco. It helps that the little thin corn tortillas were hot off the griddle! 2. My next favorite were the steak tacos, while the least favorite was the pork. These were not carnitas,but rather grilled pork meat that was on the dry side. You definitely need sauce to go with it. The steak on the other hand, was solid. 3. Lastly, on a hot day (actually ANY day), wash it all down with some of their excellent Horchata. THE best tacos in Fremont/Newark area!! I have spent the last month trying out different taquerias and taco trucks in the Fremont/Newark/UC area hoping to find my go-to taco spot. Each spot I would try i'd leave feeling like the tacos were tasty but something was still missing. It was missing that deliciousness where the slight greasiness full of flavor aftertaste would leave you feeling satisfied. My little taco tour has brought me to Mi Lindo Sinaloa, Fire Food Truck, Mr. Taco, Ofelias, and Fiesta Mexicana food truck. Amelia's was my most recent visit and definitely the best. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos, 2 al pastor tacos, and 1 carne asada amelia's taco dorado. I went with spice level spicy and left with a container of tacos that were predressed with two salsas (one red and one green). The meat was packed with flavor and juiciness. The slight grease ran into the corn tortilla making me want to finish every bite of tortilla (sometimes to low carb I try to split the two tortillas into one and eat a meatier taco). Everything about the tacos just worked out from the flavor of the meat, the residual grease, fresh crunch from the onions and cilantro, and the well prepared corn tortilla. The al pastor meat was slightly more flavorful when it came to the taco, but in the future will still order both meats for variety. The Amelia's Taco Dorado was hearty for $5 it included carne asada meat, guac, lettuce, tomatoes, and came in a crispy shell within a flour tortilla. Somehow the carne asada meat was even more flavorful in the taco dorado compared to the standard taco (maybe they cooked the meat after the al pastor on the same grill or something, not sure but it was sooo good). While it was tasty the flour tortilla + the crispy tortilla and all the toppings were overkill for me, so in the future would stick to the regular tacos but maybe order a taco dorado once to try. Location is in a very busy area (by busy I mean cars, this is right off of 84). Be careful backing out of the parking spot, but well worth the hassle for such delicious food. No frills taco truck, fast, flavorful, i'm not sure what else to say except that Amelia's Kitchen is delicious. read more

Since I'm still on the hunt for some good Mexican food in Fremont, I decided it was time to try this spot out and I was pretty satisfied. I ordered two tacos, the asada and al pastor. The asada was tender, while the al pastor was flavorful. Both tacos definitely hit the spot, especially with some tío on it. The boyfriend got a burrito and that was tasty, too!
