We purchased an Amcrest 4K Security Camera System around 4 years ago that was installed by our contractor around our home. He had recommended this company and so far, the camera and recording have been great. We're able to access the cameras from our computers, as well as our phones. When we actually did have an incident where we needed to send copy of our recorded footage of a robbery across the street, the police officer who took our footage was amazed by how clear our footage was, so I have nothing but great things to say about our system. I think it was also much cheaper than what you might buy at Costco or Sam's Club for similar systems. Anyway, we recently got a new computer and I didn't know how to access the Amcrest Surveillance software on our new system since you have to re-register everything (for lack of a better term), but when I called their technical support line, I got Kimberly A and she walked me through the process so patiently. It took over an hour, but she was super helpful. I also like that they offer an app where they can take control of your computer to help you along. I know this is a little scary for some people, but I don't have anything worthwhile that they can access so it was nice to have this feature. We'll be sure to get Amcrest again if we ever need a security camera system. read more

The product is ok, but the customer service is extremely bad. I bought the Amcrest ASH21-W Baby Monitor camera on Amazon where it says: "Also compatible with Amcrest NVRs". However, I could not add it to the Amcrest NV4108E-HS 4K 8CH POE NVR that I also bought from Amazon. I opened a ticket with Amcrest support and it lasted about 1 year, and did not go anywhere. Why I found Amcrest customer service was bad? I have the specifics from my experience: -They asked questions whose answers I had provided. -Their response showed that they did not read my emails or understand the problem reported. -They did not respond to my call requests. -It took many follow-ups to received a response. -They lied. -The support manager did not even acknowledge my feedback. Minus stars. Bought an NVR package and doorbell directly from Amcrest. Doorbell was DOA. Fine. Whatever, it happens. I'll call Amcrest about my shiny new dead camera, and they gladly exchange and probably apologize for the inconvenience. I LOVE dealing with small companies. Not so much. It took about 30 seconds on the phone (after the interminable hold) to convince me that the support team doesn't even pretend to care. It's not a huge problem that I need solved - Their website will not let me process a return no matter what I do. Is there another way? Maybe someone could contact the RMA department and come up with a workaround? Nope. Go to the website, fill out the form. The form doesn't work? Hmm... How about go to the website and fill out the form. Sir, I cannot help you until you (let's sing it together, we all know the words) Fill. Out. The. Form. But that's just a call center, surely as I go up the ladder it will get better, right? Again, not so much. I'm still not sure I wasn't emailing with a passive-aggressive bot. I won't try to describe this exchange. It's too weird. Try getting someone on the phone stateside. I am pretty good at hacking phone trees, company directories, and finding regular business numbers, but I gave up after a few days of frustration. I had a great experience with Alsie from Amcrest. Even though my security camera was discontinued, he was able to help me get back online. I had moved it to another room and forgot the password. I was so frustrated that I started to sweat. Ever been like that? Anyway, we started at the beginning and Alsie walked me right through resetting it to default. From there it was a breeze. I had a small problem with playback on my iphone, and Danny P. from Amcrest was able to help me. He remoted into my computer and correctly configured my settings, then he demonstrated how to use the Playback. I asked him also to configure my laptop and he did that flawlessly. He made it so that I'd be able to use my laptop and view my security cameras from anywhere in the world! Great technical support, and very friendly person!! Top notch! read more

Unbelievably bad customer service and customer support. I called for a simple setup on a camera and waited 1 hour on hold to get through to someone once they picked up I asked them to call me back if the call gets disconnected since I'm very familiar with how some of these tech supports work. Sure enough the call got disconnected in the middle of the set up and no one called me back. I spoke to Kristi which was another tech support who promised to call back if the call got disconnected but sure enough she just abandoned the call and did not call back. None of the software works on IOS or PC to connect the cameras to the NVR. Techs don't seem to know the software is not up to date and waste a lot off time doing other things that do not solve the problem. I have now also tried to update cameras using a PC, same message saying to install the plugin. I click the link to install the plugin, even restart the computer, STILL wants the plugin. Same out of date plug in on PC and Mac. There is NO WAY to set the NVR to record the cameras. Is Amcrest going to fix the software problems? Or do I need to reinvest into a full new system? read more

Absolute garbage company. Their support is designed to frustrate the hell out of you. I have a 720p 4 camera system with a DVR since 2015. A few months ago the DVR would stop recording and reset to 1/1/2000. After I reset the system clock it would start recording again for a week or two. Soon after it would reset again to 1/1/2000. This continues to happen over and over. I emailed support and requested if my system had a replaceable battery or not. They have system DVR's that have the battery that is not replaceable and built into the motherboard. (This is what mine is I soon found out after opening the DVR case.) Support responds after three days indicating they need to consult with a higher level? Three days later they ask if my problem is resolved. I respond that they didn't answer my original simple question. "Does my system have a replaceable battery?" This morning they send me link to reset the entire system. I am not doing that because that does not answer my question or resolve my problem. The DVR is in a difficult attic location and I just wanted support to answer so I didnt have to go into a remote location to take the DVR apart. Unfortunately that is what I had to do. Stay away from Amcrest or you will remember my experience. Amcrest support is absolutely intentionally useless! read more

I then found the same item on Amazon for a lower price with 2 day shipping. I then requested to cancel my order and sales person played dumb. Amcrest cameras a joke. Has known vulnerable firmware. Updating firmware is a joke. Support is a joke. They are scammers, take your email address and sell it to spammers. Just try and do a recommended hard reset on one of these cameras , you have to disassemble and short out 2 rings, this you can only do if you find the proper firmware and chances are it won't work anyway. But the plus side is after all this headache you get spammed like nothing before and they make more money off you buying their lousy products. read more

I purchased two cameras and one would not allow me to connect to my WiFi. After at least 8 attempts by Amcrest technicians trying to help I gave up. I asked for a replacement but Amcrest gave me such a damn run around I gave up and turned to dispute over to my credit card. This is one of the worst companies ever experienced. Their basic support team is woefully incompetent etc. I purchased an NVR and 18 cameras. It was sporadic at best from day 1. Instead of noting my account and replacing the system I have called tech support 40+ times from 2019 to now. No one solved the problem expeditiously. After years wasted I finally replaced one camera and the NVR was properly set up a few days ago. Tier 3 support hung up on on me without incident during one call and left for the weekend with my system totally disabled. Then they blocked me. My cell number after that call always gets a busy signal and is no longer able to get through. All other phones work to get through. I want my phone # unblocked and some sort of credit/compensation or free product for the years of headaches, disrespect and atrocious tech support and RMA support. . read more

I just got 2 new ASH21 indoor cameras to use with their system, the phone software was easy, getting it hooked up to the NVR was another story. Contacted support spoke with a nice lady Daisy R. who was very knowledgeable with the product. After trying a couple of steeps poof it was connected. My review is for their product, I bought my webcam via Amazon. I use this camera daily. I am in a sales job and work on MS Teams about 8+ hours a day and do a lot of video conferencing. I have a laptop with a built in webcam that hasn't worked for some reason so it was easier just to buy a plug and play model. There are 1000s to choose from but this one seemed to have good reviews and I have been using it for about a week with no real complaints. The was a slight glare/halo created when I had a bright light behind me but I was able to use the privacy shutter as a sort of shield to block it out. I wouldn't call the picture the sharpest HD ever but again compared to what you pay for the big name brands, it does the trick for every day videoconferencing and should be more than enough for the average user. It's been two months since installing the Amcrest 8mp poe dome camera with an sd card. Picture is very very choppy and camera doesn't show recorded motion events. I pulled the card and verified on a pc that the recordings are there but when you try to view them through the Amcrest pro app it simply says no recording. I've tried all the suggestions by Amcrest help and a ton of forums with no avail. It's past the thirty day refund period and I'm done with this company. I am giving this review because the techs at Amcrest do not know what their doing sometimes. I have an older cam IP2M-841B and it's still working great but when I try to go the the ip of the unit on the internet it will not display the correct login page. After going through 2 techs in India and then another tech in Houston they could not solve my problem and because the unit was out of warranty could not do anything. I fixed the problem when they should have asked me first if I had reflashed the firmware on the camera. The techs did not do this and I just reflashed the firmware and now can get full access to the cam from internet brouser. Please put this in your knowledge base Amcrest for future reference. Send me a couple of units since I solved what three techs could not. LOL read more

Worst company ever. I have hundreds of dollars worth of paper weights and these people hardly know what to do to fix it. Their support is a joke, they just give you a run around. They haven't released firmware for my cameras since May of last year, they're not even a year old for gods sake. Now I'm unable to even see them remotely, that's just wonderful. They're clearly Dahua cameras but there's no way to flash them with that firmware. So here I am stuck with their crappy products, and without any fix. Their tech support is no support at all. They are offshore in India. Each time I have called support I receive someone who knows less then I do about the product and therefore I get placed on hold multiple times while they attempt to lookup the answer. Then they proceed to give me an answer that is either completely wrong, vague, and or useless. I bought 2 AD410 doorbells, the first died within a week, the second lasted less than 5 minutes. I phoned support and they told me support was only available online. I filled out the online support form, and 2 weeks later all I can get is "we're looking into it" and a complete refusal to discuss any solutions. I reviewed the product on their website (per amcrest's email asking me to do so) and was honest. Amcrest replied that I should email escalations. I did, and several days later I have received no response. 2 weeks in to this support nightmare and I can't get any useful reply. read more

I have two of their IPM-721s Cameras. The cameras are good. It's their support and software that really, really sucks!!!! I have not had use of my cameras for almost a year. I have worked with their so call support off and on all this time. I now have given up. The support does not know what they are doing. Everyone of them tells you something different. Even when you think they have fixed it, and you let them off the phone, you realize, Oh, wow, this other part still does not work. So when you have more time to waste, you call them back. Sometimes it's a little tricky getting them set up but their customer service always gladly helps me. I've used these cameras for over three years and they are very reliable. Do not use Amcrest Cloud service. It is horrible and the service is in India. I cannot hear anything when calling I had live view and recording issue in Amcrest cloud. I filled the support request form online twice so I can get a tech support from Amcrest. These 2 issues are not solved more than 2 weeks. Also, It took them quite long to answer an email. Example, I sent a 2nd support form online on 4/3. I got their email back on 4/7 and said that they will set up an call and remote session with me if I can give them time and date. I did what they requested and I have no feed back from them since then. I requested to cancel the cloud subscription. It is better to use NVR. read more

I can honestly say that this company has one of the worst customer service in the world! My issue was somewhat simple... my Amcrest wi-fi 1080p camera was used outside and after a bit of rain it stopped working so I sent it back with an explanation. The reply back from Maria stating that due to the misuse the camera would not be replaced instead they would charge a reduced amount for a new one. I accepted and requested payment method which took about 10 days, 4 phone calls multiple emails. I spoke to Nia who after placing me on hold sent me a paypal payment request and said it would take 4 days to receive. 15 days later and numerous calls I finally received it! Before the change, this company was/is known for releasing un-finished products and using the consumers as their Beta Testers. I rarely write negative reviews but this time, other customer have to know how bad is the amcrest customer service! During a night, i murder happen in front of my shop. Then, in the morning, a police officer asked me to extract the video from my camera to help him resolve the case. I tried to extract video but i was not able to do that, so i contacted amcrest tech support... It took 8 days, many email and 3 phone call before i get help from amcrest, but it was too late: with my hard drive, this recorder just record 4 days back!! So 8 days after the event, the video that the police wanted was already erased! This is very frustrating because now the police officer think that i refuse to give him the video, and he think that i have something to do with the murder in front of my shop because i refused to give him the video!!! Let's be honest, no one is perfect and companies aren't either. I've purchased their PoE NVR system about a year and a half ago. The equipment has been working flawlessly since that time and had little to no issues installing and configuring the equipment myself. However about a month ago, the Android app stopped sending out notifications. I was upset that something so important would stop functioning out of nowhere. My guess was it might have been something with an update to Android broke the notifications but I'm not an app developer so I really don't know. Either way, I reached out to Amcrest and received some of the best and most comprehensive technical support I've ever had... and I've worked in IT for over 10 years now dealing with countless vendors. They kept me in the loop with their progress with honesty and patience. They worked with me to ensure that their products were tested and verified before they brought it out to public release. They've proven they care about their products and support them in a way that much bigger and lazier companies would never do. Their security camera system have helped me more than I could ever imagine and brought security to my home and neighborhood that I am very grateful for. I will continue to purchase Amcrest products after they have proven they are a responsible company that takes care of their customers. read more
