Like most professionals, my husband and I consider ourselves very good at what we do. We expect our professional performance to meet a standard that most people would define as outstanding. When we engage the services of any company, we expect the same level of performance. After having a very positive experience with AMC Roofing in 2013 on a roof replacement, we filed away Aaron's business card and email address with the expectation that if we ever needed roofing work done again, we would, at a minimum, give his team the opportunity to bid for the work. Little did we know how soon we would be in need of his service.
In March 2014, we began to hear the sound of voles/field mice in the walls of our home. After a call to several pest control professionals for quotes, we turned to the internet for an alternative solution to force them out of the walls. We came across several web sites recommending the use of mothballs as a deterrent. After comparing the pest control cost estimates to the cost of mothballs, we let our fiscal (mis)perception rule, sending my husband to a local home and garden store for mothballs.
When he returned home, he opened the access panel to the attic and tossed up mothballs by the handful. In the ultimate Tim-the-Toolman-Taylor moment, he figured "more is better" so he put 1 and 1/2 BOXES of mothballs into our attic, and placed the remaining 1/2 of a BOX into a 3ft by 3ft water shutoff access space. Within minutes, the odor was throughout the entire house. We immediately knew it was not just a mistake, but a huge mistake.
Again, we returned to the internet and found several additional web sites with the information indicating that mothballs, if used, should be used sparingly in well ventilated areas....and by sparingly they were talking about 1-2 pellets...not 1-2 boxes. We knew that we had a huge issue that would have to be cleaned up professionally or the smell would simply return over and over for 1-2 years.
We reached out to Aaron to see if AMC could perform attic insulation tear-out and replacement. He responded within 24 hours and we were once again working on a cost effective solution to take out the existing insulation, and all of the mothballs with it. We explained to Aaron the need for a quick resolution so that our family and pets were not breathing in the fumes any longer than absolutely required. Aaron understood the need for a quick resolution and was in our home within days performing prep work late into the evening. He ended up doing all of the removal work on his own, with an attention to detail that easily rivals our own. He spent several hours with a shop vac taking out every scrap of insulation in the attic, bagging it, and even took the time to help with his shop vac in the water shutoff access space as we had missed several small broken chunks of mothball in there when we attempted to clean up as best we could.
We can, and will, recommend AMC Roofing to anyone that we know that asks for a recommendation. Aaron's understanding of our situation, his flexibility, his persistence, and above all, his integrity, will place his company head and shoulders above other similar companies and he has earned both this review and our business from now on. read more
