Jose Patio - Spalling on my driveway.

Jose Patio

I am one of those people that gets tons of quotes for expensive work. I got 6 quotes for my full…read morepatio remodel (new outdoor kitchen, new grading/paver replacement, hot tub pad, etc) and Jose Patio was the most reasonable one. In fact it was HALF the most expensive quote (that one was outlandish though). Based on the savings I decided to take the "risk" despite some of the lower reviews here. We are so happy with the work that was done. Sam was incredibly easy to work with, his workers were clean and efficient, and they had lots of great design ideas that didn't add a ton to the project (we never felt like we were upsold at all). We had a couple questions/ small adjustments after the project was done and Sam was totally responsive and took care of it with no additional charge, so we did not have the same experience some other reviews mention. He even came over to show my husband how to turn in the sprinklers, no charge, out of his own time. They did literally nothing with our sprinklers, he was just being helpful. We would absolutely hire them again!

Don't trust this company. Jose Patio put in a new concrete driveway, patio and front stairs for me…read more At first it looked great, but after 18 months, it started to spall. Within a month, severe spalling covered most of the driveway and half the patio, with signs of more coming. I've tried for months to get the company to stand behind their work but they keep putting me off, saying they want their concrete supplier to take some responsibility. Concrete should last for decades, not months.

Liftech - Our range of Concrete Stabilization Solutions

Excellent work. This company uses polyurethane instead of…read moreconcrete, which is a much better method of lifting and stabilizing concrete. Abdul and John did great work, and the project was completed quickly and professionally. I have construction experience, and I had a friend who did commercial construction over to watch, and we were both impressed with the quality and results. Highly recommended. Excellent work. Excellent. Grant gave a great estimate, and understood the necessary repairs. What a well run and efficient company!! Highly recommended.

I would not recommend Liftech based on my experience. The biggest concerns were the lack of proper…read moresubgrade preparation, the lack of transparency, and the difficulty getting clear, consistent answers throughout the process. I specifically chose and paid extra for high early cement because my goal was to regain access to my garage parking as soon as possible. I expected clear guidance on the product's performance and realistic timelines. Instead, I received conflicting information ranging from not being able to walk on the concrete for 48 hours to not being able to park on it for anywhere from 2-10 days. When I asked for clarification, the responses were vague. Liftech's production manager stated, "There are no specific specs for high early since it is mixed with concrete at the plant," and also said, "There is varying information because no concrete is created equally." I would expect concrete professionals and concrete plants to have more consistent information regarding the product being installed. Another major concern was the subgrade preparation. Liftech subcontracted the concrete work, and when the crew arrived, they did not even have a compactor onsite. I asked the workers if they planned to compact the subgrade, and based on their responses and actions, it did not appear that proper compaction was part of their plan until I contacted their Project Manager and requested that a compactor be brought to the site. A video documenting the work can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/YBubb-Wx-ac. In the video, it appears that only about 50% of the area was properly compacted, with some areas not compacted at all. The subbase also does not appear to have been watered down as part of the preparation process. The video speaks for itself regarding the preparation that was completed before the concrete was poured. For a project of this size and cost, I expected better communication, transparency, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, my experience left me questioning both the workmanship and the information provided throughout the process.

Rock N Block -Turf N Hardscapes - Pet Friendly turf

Rock N Block -Turf N Hardscapes

Mar Lee, Southwest

After a few years of seeing our dog destroy our backyard, we finally decided to consider installing…read moreturf. I checked Yelp and Google, and I also posted in my neighborhood Facebook group to see who my neighbors used for their turf jobs. While there were several options, one company seemed to rise above the rest...Rock 'N Block. Based on the reviews, plus info I read on their website, I assumed Rock 'N Block would be out of our price range. I made appointments for both them and a few other competitors to come out and provide estimates. Austin came out and gave his pitch. Although, I'll say, it wasn't really a pitch like what I expected from a used car salesman. It was more what you'd hope, as someone like me who doesn't know much about turf other than the little I had read, to get from the experience. Austin answered my questions. He further educated me. He gave me other things to think about...and things I hadn't thought of...to ask the competitors. Yes, he measured and did the other things you'd expect as well. Before leaving, he gave me the price on the spot, and I was shocked at what it was. While I still wanted to talk to others, just for the comparison, I was pretty sure Rock 'N Block was who I wanted to do business with. In my discussions on the neighborhood Facebook site, I met another former customer who invited us to come see their yard, which was many times larger than ours. They raved about every aspect of Rock 'N Block, from the top down. From sales, through installation. Their yard, which has the same natural turf we were looking at, was gorgeous. Within a week, we had confirmed what we thought a week earlier. Yes, price was important, but it was also the quality of the turf, what we thought would be best for our dog, and what we thought would be best for us. Add in the reputation and support of the company, and it was easy for us. Originally, installation was supposed to take place today, but with heavy rain forecast, they pivoted on Monday and did the installation yesterday. The crew showed up on time and, after a brief chat with me, they went about their work. Mario, the project manager who came out last week for another measure and to make sure he had his sketch and the order correct, was the first one onsite yesterday morning. I was told it'd be a one-day job, and as it turns out, they were in and out in around five hours. Our backyard is gorgeous...maybe even better than what we had hoped. And our dog likes it too. The team was friendly, courteous, and definitely experts at their craft. While there was a big mess in both the front and back of the house when they started and during the day, by the time they were gone, you'd never know anyone was there. Everything was pristine, and we had a lush green backyard once again. Mario was originally coming back today for the final walkthrough and signoff. However, Travis, the owner of the company, was actually the one to come by. It's clear he cares about the customers he serves, and it's obvious his views on doing whatever he can to make sure every job is right is passed down to his team. I cannot recommend Rock 'N Block enough. This is the way a business should be run. If you're considering turf, you owe it to yourself to consider Rock 'N Block for the job.

Although my whole yard got destroyed in the tear out and all my sprinklers in the back still non functioning. The owner sent me my final balance invoice with ZERO concessions.
