Came here for a meetup event, and I was impressed with how big the theater was. The seats were very comfortable, and one of the coolest features in the IMAX theater was the seat warmer button. The service was good, and the location is great with plenty of parking and lots of food options nearby. I highly recommend watching a movie on the IMAX screen. It's massive, the sound system is excellent, and it makes for a great movie experience. There are also several good restaurants close by, so it's easy to grab something to eat before or after the movie. read more

We usually go here because it's the closest to us. I may be officially done with IMAX movies. Went to see The Odyssey last night and had to cover my ears for half the movie it was so loud. This has also been the case for many other movie going experiences over the past few years. Why does it have to be so loud? Movies never used to be this way. There was a young man working there who was super nice and walked us up to the handicap entrance for IMAX. He gets five stars. Which is why I bumped it from one star to two. Also, to all these people complaining about the commercials and previews: just go to the movie late! We always show up to every movie 25 minutes late and skip all that stuff. Our friends invited us to watch the new Spiderman movie. We pre-ordered our tickets online and selected our seats. There is a fee ordering online, but you can also pre-purchase your tickets in-store. A QR code was sent to us and the staff scanned it at the entrance. There was a $9 small popcorn and unlimited soft drink deal that I found on the AMC website that we couldn't pass up. The kids loved being able to refill their own drinks. The recliner seats felt comfortable, but seems a little smaller than Harkins. The bathrooms were cleaned as well. Had a great time watching a movie at this AMC. It was spacious and seating was comfortable. We booked our tickets online easily and was able to have our digital tickets scanned through our phone upon entering. There were lots of parking outside. The only complaint is that the AC needs to be turned up even higher. It was kinda hot in the movie theatre room especially with this AZ summer heat, but the recliner seats were a nice touch. There were so many showtime options throughout the day. Overall, this AMC is nice and I love how close it is to my place. read more

We have been coming to this theater for YEARS! The cleanliness of this theater has only gotten worse!!! The upstairs bathroom that is definitely going to get used when you are watching is a 3 hour movie like Odyssey has NEVER been cleaned! It has been disgusting FOR YEARS!! The reclining seats need to be replaced. You have to rub your fingers all over all the controls on every seat (line every one else does GROSS. ) DO BETTER AMC!!!! If I was reviewing the movie I saw which was anaconda, I would give it 5 stars because it had me laughing out loud for most of the movie. But I'm not, I'm reviewing the theater. This use to be one of my favorite theaters because of the service and value. But now, the value is gone and the service is REALLY gone. They have no one working here except for a couple of guys handing you your cups and popcorn. There is almost zero human interaction and to be completely honest, it sucks. Then when you get into the theater they are scrolling commercial after commercial, which is fine, because I'm early and it's not even time for the movie to start. But then the previews start and they have a couple, THEN A COMMERCIAL, then they have a few, THEN A COMMERCIAL, and so on. Again, it would be fine except they advertise the movie to start at 8:00 but it doesn't ACTUALLY start until about 8:30 and that might not be something you plan for? Anyway, the seating is ok. Like they are individual but every two has a movable divider in case you're there with a date and want to sit close. They are comfortable enough I guess but they did seem a little worn. Now for the pricing, the ticket prices are out of control here which is probably why there's so few people in the seats (I would say 10% full) and the concessions? C'mon now, this is probably why they can afford to have mostly empty theaters, because the profit margin on these things HAS to be about 1000% and that's not even an exaggeration. $10 for a medium popcorn for example is just stupid. Anyway, at least I enjoyed the movie because WOW, had that been bad, I would feel like I just threw $65 in the trash after buying two tickets, two medium drinks, and one medium popcorn. They aren't MUCH better but I think I'll stick to Harkins since they originally are a local company, have better prices, and still DO have some human interaction. read more

I'm giving this AMC theater in Mesa 4 stars. We went to see Reminders of Him and had such a fun night with a group of girls--honestly, we almost took up an entire row, which made it even better. The seats were comfortable, and overall the theater experience was really enjoyable. My only complaint is that I wish the armrests were removable because they take up quite a bit of space with not much space to set purses. I did grab a glass of wine at the bar, and the pricing caught me off guard--$20 for a 5 oz pour of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Since a full bottle was $50, a friend and I split one for $25 each, which was definitely the better deal. Still, $20 for a small pour is more than what a full bottle costs at the grocery store. But I get it--it's like buying water at Costco vs. a gas station vs. the airport. Prices go up depending on where you are. Overall, I had a great time, enjoyed the movie, and would definitely come back again. read more

This has been our theater for the past 7 years, and we've watched a MANY a movie here. I am unsure why the reviews are so low here though! We've watched movies in the morning, afternoon, and late night - service has always been good and consistent. We came here recently for Wicked: For Good and the audio and screen had great clarity! Since it was the first showing for the day, the theater was very clean! There's plenty of parking, and it's always busy here. AMC Mesa Grand earns a middling 3-star rating for my visit Sunday. I had just come from the Superstition location, where Jayme's warm reception set a high bar. At Mesa Grand, the woman at the counter was polite, but the man beside her was noticeably less so, which left a lukewarm first impression. My experience was further dampened when I paid $20 for a kids' popcorn and pretzel bites combo and received popcorn that was cooler than expected. When I asked for a fresh batch, I was told it would take 15 minutes--surprising for a business that understands the importance of timing, especially when guests are paying premium prices and expect freshly rotated food items. While everything arrived in time for my movie, better attention to food quality and temperature would go a long way. On a positive note, the pretzel bites with cheese were delicious and a highlight of my visit. read more

Half this review goes to my own performance. I successfully reserved and paid for the movie online. I got into the movie. I did a great job. I'm a good non-employee working for the company. Chairs were probably dirty and haven't been properly washed or sanitized in ages, but least didn't smell. No excessive trash on the floors and nothing stuck to the bottom of my shoes. Was not hot inside, so good to know they spend money on electricity to keep the A/C running. read more

Love that they had a remodel recently to have reclining chairs and an elevated menu. Prices are similar to other movie theatres, and love that they offer a rewards program. We visited AMC for the first time using a PerksAtWork coupon, and Jesse from Member Services made the experience smooth and enjoyable. He was attentive, kind, patient, and knowledgeable, walking us through how to use our coupon and offering helpful suggestions for affordable upgrades. It made a big difference! The theater itself was spacious with excellent screen and sound quality, and the staff were all friendly. Bathrooms were clean, well-lit, and stocked. A few things to note: the popcorn wasn't as crunchy or fresh as expected, and surprisingly, 2 out of 3 of us felt sick afterward. This was odd given their popcorn refill option, which you'd assume means fresh batches, especially with a full theater. Also, some areas of the carpet were sticky, and the reclining seats don't fully support your legs, which caused some discomfort over time. Overall, we appreciated the value and service--especially Jesse's top-notch help--and we'd come back again with just a few hopes for improvement. read more

AMC is typically our go-to theatre in the valley. It's not that we have specific loyalty or find them to be significantly more stand out compared to other theatres in the area, but their locations have always been very convenient for us. We love the $5 movie night on Tuesday and they typically have lots of options on the times and a solid movie line-up AND of course love the reclining seats. This particular location is one we frequent. It's conveniently located next to our friends and other businesses and restaurants if you are looking for a one-stop option for dinner and a movie. Parking is easy, as they have a massive shared lot with other businesses in the plazas and makes it easy. They have IMAX, Dolby all the options for movie viewing and of course the ample "standard" theatres. All seats include reclining seats, which I truly can't go back from! They do have all the movie snacks and popcorn you could desire! We don't usually indulge, so i cannot speak for the quality, but they do have all the classic options. The bathrooms are huge, so you never have to wait, but they do get a. bit rough towards later in the evening after dozens of showings. The only downfall, is their ticketings system. There is self-service option, but the kiosks are frequently out of order or need troubleshooting. You cannot utilize the discounts online or if you have free vouchers and they charge silly convenience fees if you purchase online. I know you typically can't avoid those at any theatre, but i will still never understand them. You will still find me there on those five dollar movie nights though! read more

Besides getting to see mad movies, there's no benefit to being a A-List stubs member...it's crazy they expect you to pay $16 for popcorn every time you hit the theater? I don't feel so A-List with that experience. If your concessions were cheaper you'd sell more. It's simple mathematics. You can sell all of your popcorn instead of having to throw it away. I just don't understand CEO logic these days. The best product should be cheapest so everyone can have it. So I guess the most expensive isn't the best. Well YELPies.. where to begin! We came for Deadpool and Wolverine. We were directed to screen 4. When entering you could tell no cleaning had NOT been done between movies. We get to our seats and we had to clean them before we sat down.. good thing 2 of us are in healthcare and we carry gloves, wipes, tissue and hand sanitizer. There was popcorn, spilled soda and half chewed candy stuck to seats. It was nasty but, we tried to allow a pass.. once the movie started.. we noticed there was no air in the theatre. It was smoldering. We discussed it with others sitting next to us. Well... the staff that was alerted about the heat in the theatre, considering it was already over 100 outside at 8:15 in the evening, the movie was supposed to be a respite from the heat. Staff told the young lady that asked about the lack of air in the theatre, oh yes we know.. nothing we can do about that ‍. Needless to say, by the time the movie was over, we all were sweating and appeared to have been in one of the action scenes in the movie. No refunds were issued, no apology or concession rewards. AMC failed us. YELPies... I won't be back to this particular AMC but, will allow another to redeem AMC's good name. read more

Havent been to an AMC in a long time. It's very strange that everything is basically self help. You go inside and get your tickets yourself off a kiosk. You go to the snack counter have to use another self serve kiosk to help yourself. There are workers there but its very scarce and I will say the ticket kiosk guy that helped us was helpful. At the snack counter they kind of just ignore you until you flag them down. What a very weird and strange experience. I prefer harkins better. read more

Went to AMC with my daughters to see Moana 2. I really like the reclining seats and the fact that no one can kick your chair or put their feet on the back of your seat. However, I have no idea why the air conditioner was on and it's December. Freezing! At the concession stand. We ordered sliders and a large popcorn. Our number was called to pick up our food but only the popcorn was ready. I asked about our sliders and I was told the sliders were coming. We received the sliders 10 minutes later and I didn't not notice that they were cold until I bit into it when I got to our seats. Disappointed with the concession stand. read more

I like the innovative ordering approach yet still need the old fashion customer service from a human being. I'm all for Kiosk ordering, yet you have to offer freshly made popcorn, no exceptions. Most of the young employees were standing around by their posts & on their phones, with no human interaction except for directing people to the restrooms or customer service. The theater & lobby was subpar cleanliness-wise & opted not to step into the restroom. Went to see 7 PM showing of How to Train Your Dragon with my family and while the movie was good, the theater AC was not working. There was no signage indicating an issue, and it was HOT. A day that was 112 degrees out, and the theater wasn't so warm that we all left soaked from sweat. Not a great experience for $93.91 in tickets and another 40 in concessions. read more

I love this place probably the best AMC I've been too I never had any issues with this theater. The staff is nice and helpful, the recliners are amazing, and the popcorn is always great it's the only thing I ever get on the menu. The theaters are nice too the sound is always great and the movie screen is always crystal clear. The only downside about this place is it's expensive which is my gripe with AMC in general. The concession is really pricey and tickets are pretty expensive unless you get something like "AMC stub members" it will be a lot cheaper and more worth your while. We were disappointed tonight. There were so many unaccompanied kids in our screening of the quiet place that it wasn't even quiet once in the theater. The teens next to me were sitting on top of each other moving around. A lot. And the back row was filled with kids giggling and talking the whole movie. Running up and down the stairs repeatedly. We saw Wicked for Good in the new Imex theatre. Movie was sooo good but the new reclining chairs in this theatre are awful!!!!! The company obviously skimped on money with this as the chairs don't work like the other theatres. I love how easy everything is with the app--you can buy your tickets, order snacks, and all you have to do is show up, pick up your items, and enjoy the movie. As someone who typically goes to the AMC 24 in downtown Phoenix, this AMC impressed me. My husband and I came here because they were playing a movie we couldn't find anywhere closer to home. The seats are even nicer than the Esplanade. They have all the expected food options and the fancy soda and ice machines. I enjoyed the option for the fancy Dolby sound theater on select movies-- it's more expensive, but not if you're on their A-List movie pass. This place makes it worth it, easily. read more

In fact I think they've let so many people go they don't have anyone to keep the ceilings clean. This is really gross.
