This is by far the best movie theater I have ever been to! It may be a little spendy for some people at $10-$12 a ticket - but the price is definitely worth it. They have seating that allows you to choose where you'd like to sit before you even get into the theater - so you don't have to deal with the surprise of getting stuck in the front row. The sound quality is a amazing - screens are large - and they play a ton of previews (which can be fun). The best part about the theater though is the large reclining leather chairs. I really do like this place a lot more with the assigned seating. Its great if you are running late or you wanna walk in at the last minute. The seats are amazing you can recline just like at home. They don't mind if you bring a small blanket, it does get cold most times. Also it is so much more relaxing! They just recently put a little bar in, which is a great idea if you wanna hangout or have a drink with your movie! Where to begin. First off, this place is WAY overpriced. More than $13 per ticket. For this reason they make pricing on their website nearly impossible to find. Second, the concessions prices are ridiculous even for a movie theater --- almost $15 for a medium soda and a bag of popcorn. So right off the bat we're in over $40 for two tickets, one soda and one popcorn. The drink and popcorn area was absolutely filthy. And an employee was filling bottles with butter using the dispenser that patrons use. There's gotta be some kind of regulation against that! Third, the movie we saw had a lot of quiet scenes, and the sound bleed-through from outside the theater was unacceptable. Last, the seats were messy, with sticky soda not cleaned out of the cup holders, and popcorn everywhere. I'm glad I didn't have to use the restroom when I was there. I can only imagine. You can see a movie in nearby Andover (CEC) for $4 less per ticket, cheaper concessions, cleaner, and better recliners. I won't step foot in this AMC again. read more

I've been here a few times and it was pleasant. however I went to see the new Grinch movie and the experience was nothing short of terrible. Most, if not all, seats were cracking open or completely torn. The seats I happened to have gotten were horribly ripped, as pictured. the recliner function also didn't work. Other patrons were disruptive and on their cell phones; as well as using crude and disrespectful humor. Which is to no fault of the theater, just reflects poorly. The recliners didn't work, so the people next to us went and complained so someone came to fix it and asked me if my phone had a flash light so he could see. Not only did his fixing the recliner distract from the movie, but he asked for my phone and disrupted my movie experience completely. This also happened within the last 3 or so minutes of the movie. So I didnt catch much of the ending. I wish I had waited to see it at Emagine. If I could give them no stars I would. It was completely horrid. read more

Thanks AMC Coon Rapids. I literally don't want to go see a movie anywhere else now. But I don't care. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. Let me tell you of my movie woes elsewhere. I have always hated going to full movies and not being able to put my feet on the seat in front of me, cuz I'm not comfy sitting for a couple hours in awkward movie chairs. So much so to the point where I've contemplated buying an extra seat for my feet. Most places have the option of moving the armrest in attempts to make them more cuddle friendly (if you wanna snuggle up on the stranger next to you if they'll let you or don't notice for a while), but let's be honest that doesn't actually work at other places. It's awkward and weird and I don't like my butt being half off my seat and I inevitably look like a "creeper" trying to rest my head on some stranger's shoulder. And let's be honest, I'm sometimes strolling in when the previews are already rolling (for shame, I know) which means all the choice seats are taken. First world problems all over the place! How have I survived this far without solutions to these terrible and grievous problems is a testament to my character. Ha. THIS THEATER HAS SOLVED ALL OF THAT. Reclining leather seats. Reclining. Leather. Seats. I don't think you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth. You push a button and your seat ever so lovingly cradles you back into its pillowy embrace, and a footrest from the gods extends so you are practically supine, and the most comfortable in ways you never ever thought possible in a theater. Even coming stuffed to the gills from a delish sushi dinner (ha!!) I didn't even need to unbutton my jeans to be comfortable thru the hours of viewing pleasure that was seeing The Hobbit 2. Did I mention that can also turn in to a snuggley loveseat that you can actually cuddle on? Seriously, I was one blanket away from just telling them I was staying the night there. Best of all, some theaters here have the option to reserve your seats when you buy your tickets online ahead of time. Which is great bc I can take up my kind waitress on the desert course (i.e. more drinks) and not have to worry about being stuck in the nosebleeds if I arrive tardy. I really don't get this excited about things ever. And I don't ever say I'm only ever going to one place ever for anything and actually mean it. But seriously. Coon Rapids AMC, you forever have my patronage. Pinky swears. So much so that I may even consider that Stubs card. read more

4/15/17 went to AMC coon rapids to See Fast and Furious with my husband and 3 kids, I the theratre #9 was so Hot, went to main desk to complain and I was told " yea it has been hot all day", ask to have temp lowered " no". I dripping sweat. Horrible experience. we go to movies all the time there - never had such a bad time- call 188- AMC and filed complaint and nothing! We also really like that seats are reserved- we can buy exactly where we want to sit online and show up 10 minutes before show time. Still great views! It is great they added a little bar. So you can enjoy a drink on date night. The seats are comfortable. The line for concessions can get a little to long. Miss the days when they had 2 extra concessions in the theatre halls. They are a little speedy and gone are the days of just going to a movie. With the new seats it fills up fast and you have to order online for good seats. Be sure to triple check the dates and times. We have bought tickets and found out to late that we bought the wrong day or time. They are pretty good at fixing the issue. So went to the movie yesterday. The movie was great. The seats were great, however you spend $17.44 for cheese popcorn and a soda. The cheese popcorn must have been made or bought a year ago, it was disgusting. Can't quite figure that one out. I should have run to Northtown and got my own cheese corn from the Karmelcorn shop. At least there I know I am spending the money on something fresh and good. Think you better re-think your cheese popcorn deal, not good people. Don't do it. read more

This is the most disgusting movie theater I've ever been to. Saw Coco tonight ... got our snacks, drink stand was a complete disaster. We walked into the movie theater 15 minutes before the movie started and there was trash everywhere. Someone came in to clean and the trash wasn't thrown out, popcorn and grease all over the seats after he "cleaned". My husband took my small daughter to the restroom before the movie, there was literally a turd on top of the toilet. Went in again after the movie, still there. I took my daughter into the women's restroom and there was blood all over the seats and floors of THREE different stalls. I went here the other day and was blown away first off the seats are amazing second I brought my 5 month old son with he is really good child at events he mad a fuss for a bit so I took him out of the theater for 5 mins cause he's teething. A worker gave me a free movie coupon and told me such a great father shouldn't miss his film was blown away by that. Walked in door to confusion on what line to be in. After messing around with the self check in and getting nowhere 8 of us were routed to the line with a real person only to be informed the movie was sold out. 6 others left and 2 of us decided on Passengers. 32.54 for 2 tickets I asked if that was correct for only 2 and was informed yes for 2 . Wow that is the most I've ever paid. Sticker shock took away my appetite so I skipped the concessions. Recliners are really comfortable and theater was nice and clean inside. Movie was really good but could hear explosions from the movie next door throughout the picture which was distracting. read more

Never been a huge fan of this place highest ticket prices around. I know it's a change and it's inevitable but the assigned seating I just don't think I'll ever get used to it .Last time I saw a matinee at Showplace I sat in the middle of the theater there was only five people in the theater and to 15 year old girls sat directly next to me . Just hate the whole concept of assigned seating and being able to purchase on your phone like a lazy pile of crap don't have to do anything I got my ticket I can show up 15 minutes late and I've seen people do it all the time. We walk in on a Wednesday at noon, we did not purchase tickets ahead of time, so we are told the only seats available are 3 in the very front row or 3 in the very back row. Mind you, we are the only people in the lobby of the theater. We purchase our tickets for over $30 (2 children and 1 adult) then purchase our large popcorn and 3 drinks for $27. We walk into the completely empty theater and find our seats. I think 10 more people ended up coming in to watch the movie, but at least they left the other 60 some seats open in case people purchased seats online after the movie had actually started. I normally go to the St Michael Cinema, I would say the prices there are half the price for tickets and concessions, they also have a full bar. You can also choose your own seat once you are in the theater, like the good old days. Will not return to AMC. read more

Everything about the place is excellent, except the walls of each individual theater are not sound proof at all. That means if you get stuck with a noisy movie next door, you are going to be listening to TWO movies the whole time instead of one. I very nearly walked out of the movie I most recently watched there (in theater #14) due to the ridiculous amount of noise the next theater over. If they ever get this problem fixed, it'll become the perfect movie theater. Until then, it is merely very good. read more
