It was too hot to golf on this sunny Sunday afternoon, so we took the family to see a movie instead! Very large parking lot outside makes parking a breeze. The interior of the space is a little dated, but overall fairly clean compared to many movie theaters I've been to lately. They have a staffed Box office or electronic ticket purchasing which makes entry smooth and easy. $9 a ticket for a Sunday matinee felt like a great deal. We skipped the concessions this time around but they had all the basics. Inside the theater, the temperature was a bit chilly, which I loved. Reclining theater seats make the movie watching experience comfy! I also appreciate that they don't play 30 minutes of previews like some of the national chains. Met a buddy for an afternoon Star Wars Mandolorian movie. Wasnt busy and i like their parking lot, spread out in three areas vs one like 30 rows deep. I was surprised & grateful to see there was a $5.50 Tuesday special! I believe the concession special was buy a pop get a popcorn free. I didnt count the seats but grateful that the rows are 10 or 12ish seats long vs 20, its a shorter hike across. Looking forward to making this a weekly outing! read more

Overall this is a great local theater with decent prices, and some great deals if you can attend movies mid week. Staff is always friendly, patrons appear to have a good time, and the location has been mostly clean on all of my visits. In my opinion, there are 2 opportunities for improvement: 1) the parent company needs to update to an app based rewards system. Plastic cards are not used at most other theaters, and the checkin system if you bought tickets in advance can be cumbersome. 2) Lubricate the gears on the recliners - some of the chairs are so loud that it's distracting / embarrassing (if you sit in one) - the chairs are comfy but once I'm in position I'm afraid to move because of the sound the chair makes. read more

This theatre is decently updated and modernized, the seats were nice and the concessions were fairly priced. However, the sound in our theatre was off from the start. The subs were not on, and the right side speakers were not on, so the entire movie sounded completely off. I mentioned this to one of the attendants about 2 minutes into the movie, and they never fixed it. The whole reason to see a movie in a theater is the big screen and the great sound. Ok maybe it was my fault but I am a senior and I didn't read all the items on the board before I ordered. I asked for a small popcorn, I can't afford a popcorn and pop. When my friend arrived she told me that I could get a pop with a free popcorn on Tuesdays. So I told the crew there that I didn't know that. I asked them if I could have a free small pop. They said no and the manager said no. They said for me to give them my popcorn and they would throw it away get me new popcorn in a bucket then they could sell me a pop again...cuz then I could get the popcorn free. WHAT THE WHAT?????? The theatre has been around for a while. And it changed hands a couple of years ago. Haven't visited since the switch until today. Getting tired of how busy, expensive and sold out AMC Showplace 16 is. So we looked for alternatives. Loved the renovations! Spacious lobby. Paid for tickets at the counter and reserved seats...similar the Showplace. They only have one ticket counter, but there wasn't a line. Stopped at concession and prices seemed to be on par. Ordered a Kiddie Combo....(no age limit!) for $5.50 which was plenty. You get choice of pop or slushy, and fruit snack (or upgrade charge to) candy. Pop machine is self serve with all the different flavors. The pop machine is next to the condiment stand which holds your butter, salt and napkins. We did notice that they served alcohol at a separate concession stand. Didn't check on hours of open bar or prices. The hallway is clean, lined with promotional displays of upcoming movies. Theatres are also clean...no sticky floor!! Vaulted stadium seats that reclined. Cup holders and optional armrest in loveseat recliners. Plenty of space to still walk through when others have their feet up. Bathrooms stocked and clean. No paper towels, but the powerful Dyson blowers. Exits are on the sides of the hallway (north and south), while the entrance is on the west. Easier to park on the sides vs in the front and then exit through the lobby. read more

Andover offers a great local theater with small-town pricing. Tickets on Tuesdays are $5, and they also offer a free small popcorn w/ a drink on that day. They have spacious heated seats that recline. You can order tickets online and check in at the kiosks as you walk in or at the actual box office. They have an excellent selection of snacks - hot mini donuts, Chanticlear pizza, cheese curds, etc and a Coca Cola freestyle machine. I'm knocking a star because their employees don't want to be there. It's obvious. I've been in the lobby while management yells at the teens they employ - instead of coaching. Of the two older adults, the man has a better customer service attitude. The woman is always frowning. There is no "How are you" or anything - even when I approach nicely! I would be that way too my management was treating me so roughly. Kindness and coaching begets good help. They seem to have an attitude problem and it always starts at the top. Anyway, that note is more for management. The theater itself is great and I will be returning - Tuesdays or not! read more

My friend and I decided to see a movie last minute on a Saturday. I have not been to this location in years. Lots of upgrades. I walk in very clean and open now. Ticket prices were good and reasonable. You can pick your seat and also order online now. We didn't hit the concession but they seem to have a wide variety. They changed the seats here very clean and cozy. Recliners were not loud and were the perfect size. With a hidden cup holder for all you couples who like to have the arm rest up between you. read more

Decent little movie theater. They always have the most recent big hits (you won't find any art house pictures here) and there is rarely much of a hassle. The downsides: -They only take cash, so if you don't have any you'll have to hit their ATM. -The snack bar is average, but nothing special. If you want more than popcorn, candy, pretzels and cheap nachos, eat before you come here -They aren't a major mega-plex, so they have fewer showings than the AMCs of the world (plenty of showings to accommodate their audience, but not the flexibility of a bigger house) -Every now and then you'll get a big line for a premier. While the theater is clean and comfortable don't accidentally leave anything behind. We lost 2 baggies of kids clothes. One girls, and one boys. My sons clothes were no where to be found yet my daughters were found right away. The manager was very rude when I came in and asked if they'd been found. When I asked if they could have been stolen he scoffed in my face then said no. Very rude and no apology. I get it's my responsibility to not leave things behind so I take responsibility for the items but don't scoff in my face. read more

This is our main "go to theater" in the Blaine/Andover area - especially after they remodeled it a few years ago. It's always fairly clean and the staff is generally friendly. It can be a busy theater at times when new movies open so get your tickets early. I've been skunked twice on very popular movies the day after they opened (Saturday afternoons) and we were there a good 45 minutes before the movies started. Popular movies can sell out that fast but I suspect that's the case with any decent movie theater like this. Aside from that, movies are rarely jammed packed and the crowds that come here are generally quiet, civilized, and courteous...although when I went to American Sniper on a Friday night a few teenagers behind us were being obnoxious. Generally if you go to movies here on Saturday or Sunday afternoons you won't have any issues with obnoxious crowds. read more

Less risk of noisy babies and rude teenagers (I was one too so I'm not too hard on em when they cross my path). Prices are cheaper than showplace. This is definitely a little movie house, which is fine but if they want to compete with the larger movie theaters Andover Cinema really needs to step their game and their services need to be up to pare. A little disappointed in this movie theater. Just tried to watch How to train your dragon but the movie had flaw on the left side that played through the entire movie. Not just a minor one but through the entire left side of the screen. I told several employees (which were just standing around talking amongst themselves) but nobody did a thing about it. No attempts to fix the problem. No apologies. Nothing. Pretty disappointing customer service. Other downsides: - Snack bar is average only. Negative on speed of service. - Cash only. No credit or debit cards period. - Cleaning up is not a strong suit here... Theater pretty messy. Almost on the border of nasty.... - Purchasing tickets is not an issue but the speed of which that happens is. There are much better places to see a movie with better quality screens and customer service. I'll only go here again if it's the ONLY show time that fits my schedule. My friend and I went to see Mamma Mia last night and the speakers or sound system were NOT working. I had already seen the movie once before so I could tell something was very off, I immediately left the theatre to alert a staff member that the sound system was not working and a worker came in to listen and wasn't really sure what to do but they said they would go talk to someone...so I waited in the theatre again for about 15 minutes listening to this horrible sound and decided to leave to find them again and get a refund. They still hadn't done anything about the sound so they were kind enough to give my friend and I a refund but I think that as a better customer experience they should have addressed the issue to the entire theatre because now everyone in there was subject to a subpar experience of this movie without even knowing. read more

Love the remodel. However, when I brought my family to a 6:45 showing, the theater was unbelievably understaffed for what I feel should be movie "rush hour". One person selling tickets and only two people behind the concession stand. After 20 minutes of waiting for tickets and snacks, we were ready to head into the movie only to find that the entrance to the theaters were blocked off by a rope with no one in sight to take tickets. Our movie was starting in less than two minutes. Other moviegoers were just lifting the rope to get in, so we did the same. I am really sorry to bash my favorite movie theater but the experience I had tonight was terrible. With their new seats you are able to book your seats online. So my family and I book 4 seats next to each other to see the movie Jumanji. When we got there, there was people sitting in our seats. When we told an employee they said that they must have "double booked us" and my family and I had to sit separated. The worst part is this was not the only time this had happened to me. I have been to this "new theater" with the new seats only 2 times. And both times this happened to me. The first time I came early enough I sat in my seat but the unfortunate family that came later had to sit separated. I am really sorry to say this but I will not be going back to this theater because this just should not happen. I would rather spend 6 extra dollars to see a movie and AMC in coon rapids because I have never had issues with them. :( read more
