Upon arrival, me and my friend were hesitant to sit due to her two serves fornicating with one another behind the register. Nonetheless, we still decided to give the spot a chance. We ordered the boiled peanuts, and we got it quickly as well. However, Amber started to hover around us, continued to stare, and after a while we got uncomfortable and decided to pay. My friend had a cocktail from another business, which she finished and we expressed we were done and she visibly saw she was finished. However, she only took the boiled peanuts. That was fine but as me and my friend were walking away she yelled out "You forgot your cup" we found it a bit strange but we didn't say anything we got the cup and asked one of the servers if they had a trash we could throw it away in because we didn't want to walk all the way to the entrance to just throw away an empty cup, Amber proceeded to get upset and say something to my friend, however I didn't hear her so I asked my friend what she said and she overheard my friend tell me what went down , and she proceeded to say "Yes I did say that and what are you going to do about it??" Immediate confusion??? All I have to say is, if you're at a farmers market I would assume it's to build your business and even expand into something bigger and better, however a business cannot flourish off of disrespect and lack of kindness. read more

I recently went to Yellow Green Farmers Market for the first time ever and was blown away, to say the least. So many things to see, buy, taste, and explore! After doing one dizzying lap and being turned away from our original brunch plan at ChillBar (two hour wait?!), my friend and I were lured by the bright colors and inviting atmosphere of Amber's Tropical Escape. That's exactly what it felt like: an escape from the hustle and bustle of the market, although it's definitely in the thick of it all. There was a young boy about 12 working the counter (Amber's son?). He was very cute and invited us to sit down at the bar. The menu is very simple and succinct with sandwiches, salads, and a couple of apps. We both got chicken quesadillas and a mimosa. It's almost as if you're a guest in Amber's kitchen, as she's pretty much cooking right in front of you in tight quarters. Our quesadilla came out quick and hit the spot when paired with some tasty hot sauces they had on hand. The tortilla has some sort of herbs in it which was a nice touch. While we ate, Amber chatted with us a bit and was super friendly. At the end of the meal, she gave us a sample of her frozen sangria that was AWESOME, but she did warn us it was quite strong. Next time, I'll be back to grab one of those and walk around the market. This isn't going to be the most exotic food or even the best you'll find in the market, but if laid back simplicity is what you're after, look no further! read more

It's my first time stopping by Amber's although I've walked by it plenty of times. I was eagerly greeted by Amber and immediately felt welcomed and decided to stay. We got the fish dip and tuna sandwich as well as the frozen sangrias. The frozen sangrias were nothing like what i expected- and i'm glad! It was actually delicious and were potent as well. This place wins because of the ambiance and location within the Farmer's Market. We visited Yellow Green on Father's Day and brought the pups in to take a lazy stroll around the place. It was our first time here and we had heard so many great things about the market itself. Anyways, onto Amber's place. It's pretty centrally located and cozy. The bar seats about 10-15 people and it also has two or three extra areas set up with patio furniture rented to accommodate for an overfill of customers (it must get really busy sometimes). The day we were there, it was very empty and we joined two others at the bar. Amber greeted us and was very friendly. She offered us drinks and we opted for the beer and YG trendy, 'frozen sangria.' Both were good and perfect for a hot Sunday afternoon. Considering the fact that I'm usually a bourbon girl, I was really surprised that the sangria had such a kick and that by the time I finished I was feeling a little bit of a buzz. The food itself wasn't anything to get excited about. I ordered the house-made fish dip that Amber prides herself on and my hubby had the sirloin burger. The fish dip was small, plain in flavor, and served with toast points, jalapeños, and limes. It was okay, but a tad fishy for my taste and could've used some fresh herbs mixed in like basil, cilantro, or dill. The burger was tiny and served on french bread. My hubby was starving so naturally he scarfed it down, but when he finally came up for air he mentioned that it was dry and overcooked albeit edible. His burger was also served with Ruffles potato chips, yippee NBD. The dining experience killed two stars due to the price of the meal and drinks. We ordered the beer and sangria thinking that they'd be affordable like a couple bucks, but they ended up costing us almost as much as the appetizer and meal itself. Anyways, I get the appeal of this place and I know why Amber is successful. She's genuine and kind. Her food is good, but doesn't tout any bells or whistles. She even offered our pups a little treat which was nice. I don't know if I would return to the Tropical Escape, but I'll definitely be back to Yellow Green. read more

Amber's Tropical Cafe is a must when going to the Yellow Green Market. Everything is fresh and made from scratch, with love and tastes absolutely incredible. It is the best place hands down to grab a bite to eat, have an ice cold beer or frozen sangria and socialize or relax. She is one of the nicest people in the world and so hardworking. You are treated like instant family. Through Amber's Tropical Cafe, we not only became instant fans of her but fast friends and she has become like family to us through her restaurant. After walking around the market, my friends and I decided to stop here for a quick lunch. The decor is great, the amount of seating offered is plentiful. We were able to grab a table and relax. For being such a small place, the menu is large and they have many vegan options, too. We opted for the fish dip, pulled pork sandwich, veggie burger, and a chicken quesadilla. The fish dip was good, it was served with some toasted bread... but very small serving for the price. The veggie burger was good, and served with some tortilla chips, my friend enjoyed it and the sauce that they brought along. The pulled pork sandwich was served on a large piece of Cuban bread and had a yummy bbq sauce on top of it, however it was not accompanied by anything and the amount of pork was not enough for all of the bread. And, the chicken quesadilla was good but also served just the tortilla, cheese, and some chicken slices. Amber was nice to come around and offer a squirt of sour cream which was greatly appreciated. Overall, the quality of the food we ate was good... the service was nice, and it was homey.....but I thought the prices were quite high for the location and food we were served. Myself, my two kids and one friend ordered food and one of my daughters brought over food from a neighboring booth and the owner flipped out and very rudely told us that she couldn't sit there with the food. I will say that clearly displayed on the table was a sign that stated no food from other vendors, however, I figured since we had ordered and there was not one and I mean not even one other customer in the place that it would not be a problem, after all, I was a paying customer.
