I have found that place! I don't have much hair, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to look good. I've been to several places throughout Austin; some places had me in and out of their chair in what seemed like seconds. Other places just gave me the impression I was in the wrong place and others were just "ok". I came across the "Nines" reviews and figured, I'll give another place a try. And one of the hardest things is who to pick to cut your hair. I randomly picked Amy but clearly that was a great choice. I'm sure everyone working here does amazing work, but I was fortunate to choose Amy. She is very friendly and was ready the minute I walked in the door. Very accommodating, she offered me water, soda, beer... I just had the water but I think next time I'll enjoy a drink! Before I moved to Austin, I had been going to the same person for years so it was very easy. All I had to do was make an appointment and she knew exactly what to do. I'm one of those who prefer the person cutting to give me suggestions on what they think would look good and Amy was more than happy to offer suggestions. I wanted to cover up a little gray and it had been months since my last haircut and it was looking pretty shaggy so I needed a complete "overhaul". Amy seemed to understand what I was looking for and made some recommendations which I went for. The haircut was enjoyable; I've had other people who are sometimes a bit careless but Amy is very gentle and thorough. When it came to the coloring... again, she took the lead. I had complete trust in her and she used a color she felt would look best and it was perfect! And at the end, she did the neck shave which is so underrated. It took awhile but I have found a great place to get my hair taken care of and hopefully I can keep going to Amy.

I did have a nice scalp message as well as, a quick wash/blow out from Tamra, taking about a 1/2hr nice & quick too! My assumption for price range (I thought) would be your typical city prices of $55-$75. But I should have asked first because the total upon checkout with a 20% tip was a whopping $146.10!! So price for blowout -no flat ironing, no curling etc. - ended up $116.88 without tip! Always ask pricing prior to booking!! Lesson learned! :/

I had an absolutely terrible experience with this barber. Before starting, I showed him photos of exactly what I wanted: a clean high bald fade. I even told him it was totally fine if he didn't want to take it all the way down to the skin if he didn't have the right tools. Instead of listening, he rushed through the entire cut and then had the nerve to tell me, "This is what you get in 30 minutes." At one point he literally showed me a timer he had set for 30 minutes like that somehow justified the quality of the haircut. Then he said if I wanted a better blend I should have booked a beard trim too, which honestly felt like a cheap upsell after already paying a ridiculously high price for the haircut itself. The result? An absolutely terrible fade with harsh lines and almost no blending. It looks nothing like the photos I showed him. For the price he charges, I expected professionalism and basic attention to detail, not to be rushed through like I was on an assembly line. To make matters worse, when he used a straight razor on the back of my neck, he actually cut me multiple times. I left with small nicks and irritation back there, which is completely unacceptable. A straight razor should be used with care, not rushed like everything else during the appointment. I walked out feeling like I had been robbed and honestly embarrassed by how bad the haircut looks. If you value your money and don't want to leave looking like an idiot with a butchered fade--and possibly with cuts on your neck--I would strongly recommend going somewhere else.
