I've been waiting for 2 1/2 weeks for them to pick up the hospital bed. It's in my small living room and is a constant reminder of the bad experience I had with my my husband's passing. They say they have been to my house a couple of times, but I get lots migraines and I'm usually in my bedroom trying to get rid of my migraines which is on the other side of the house. All they had to do is call me and I could've opened the door and let them in. I'm home all day. My experience with Ambercare has been very disappointing. The hiring process was slow, confusing, and extremely unorganized. The people working in the office were unprofessional and rude, showing very little respect or courtesy toward potential employees. It honestly feels like they don't value the people who are trying to join their team. The people with the in-home hospice are great. The Nurses, Bathing nurses, Chaplain and Social worker were all so awesome! The problem I had was with the higher ups keeping the patient and families updated on certain things, like showers. If the bathing nurse was not available that day, we were never notified by the company! Makes it hard on an older person when they are used to schedules!! read more

The doctor ordered physical therapy 4 days ago. No results. I have called. No results. On August 1, the hospital ordered physical therapy on my discharge. I had 3 sessions, and did quite well. Ambercare has many excuses, but no logical explanation for no physical therapy. read more

I would have not started working with ambercare if I would have known how irresponsible and unprofessional that the office staff is. And when they make a mistake, they want to point the finger at The employee ee or another agency? What have you not a good place to work for. The service is horrible the care coordinator sends caregivers that are still waiting for the background check to clear or that don't know what pine sol is used for she says the caregiver complains when fired so it must be your fault. When your disabled and in pain and need help it's no joke having to call everyday asking for that help and then to get treated like your such a burden. It's disgusting. There are those who do a wonderful job but AmberCare has a lot of issues with their clients and even their staffing. Someone should investigate them. And go around talking to their clients because some of the staff have a lot to say about how things are run there. read more

Disabled vet in a wheelchair. And the care is worse than worse. Very unreliable and they put clients at great risk. These people are using veterans to make a living and take advantage of the veteran's administration. My doctor assigned me 15 hours per week of help in my home. They offer a couple of hours here and there and charge for 15 hours. No wonder everyone is completely unhappy with this agency. read more

Every time I tried to contact these people, I was told that someone would contact me. They didn't. Gave them a new phone number & they were trying to contact me on 2 different numbers I didn't recognize. As a client for approximately 4 mos, I was visited by 3 different young ladies each claiming it was a new job. I can see why now. Very disorganized. read more

Several days after my son came home from rehab, Amber Care called up and insisted on king control of my son. I explicitly told them that within 24 hours, my son saw his VA DOCTORS that went through his screwed up medication list. That he had PT appointments scheduled with VIBRANT PT on San Pedro NE. So. NO, leave us alone. AMBER CARE just called saying that they were scheduling my son for lab work and PT. OBVIOUSLY, they don't respect patients. I told them NO, LEAVE US ALONE. He's seeing his VA doctors, did his labs last week, in PT, and is at his surgical follow ups. I am beginning to think that this stuff from AMBER CARE is from the surgical office. Meanwhile, I'm blocking Amber Cares phone numbers. If you want to be harassed and bullied, call Amber Care. I guess it's a good place if you are overwhelmed. I told my son that when I'm gone, don't open the door. If they insist on taking him somewhere, call 911. He's happy at home, taking daily walks, healing nicely, making and keeping appointments, he saw 2 VA doctors and refilled his meds today. Why is anybody bothering us? read more

If you are looking for an agency for yourself or a loved one.... keep looking. I don't know where to begin with this agency.... some of my experiences were soooo surreal and outright abusive. While some of the caregivers were wonderful and took great pride in their work, but they were far and few between. Most were just indescribably horrific IF they showed up. As a quadriplegic living on my own, I can not go without care at all--I depend on home care to maintain my independence. I've been allowed to fall after my requests to have chair went unheeded multiple times, resulting in injury. I had one caregiver that threw tantrums, gave me screaming lectures on how she wanted things and shoved me, and nothing was done about this. And another caregiver had a seizure disordered so severe she required a pacemaker to control them, but it didn't cure her of them. When I questioned having a caregiver that could have a seizure while on the job and asked for someone else and I was told there was no-one else. I was fearful of her having a seizures on me. I have a seizure alert dog for my own seizures and my dog was constantly displaying alerting behaviors towards this woman. My care coordinator with ambercare/addus thought it was funny when I reported my dog alerting of potential seizures with this woman along with this same woman threatening to leave me, over minor things--correcting how she dressed me that resulted in my being hurt due to jerking clothing roughly,, my sarcasm about my situation which she often misinterpreted it being about her, she even threatened to leave me over my kicking a trashcan that was in my way. I was often hurt during grooming and a scratch from a caregiver with long nails got infected and turned into a pressure sore--caregivers are not suppose to have long nails under medicaid rules., and then there were a lot of caregivers that had long nails. And last but not least, a lot of them were extremely wasteful, destructive and could not take instruction. I live on a very tight budget and for example, one caregiver went thru a half a 32 oz. bottle of concentrated dish soap in the space of 5 days for just 5 or 6 dishes every day, rendered food inedible, ignoring my cooking instructions, because she 'knew how,' and another caregiver bleached a load of colored clothes, leaving them streaked and basically unsightly and I have very nice clothes. A few of them came, plopped down and played on their phones and gave me attitude when I asked them to turn off the phone like they're supposed to to start doing things they're paid to do......It got so bad I had to get adult protective services involved before I was finally able to get transferred to another agency, that is good so far. If I was able to give them a zero star rating. Addus bought out ambercare on 1/1/2019... they're the same agency. read more

Not sure how to get help: So far I've been given the name of Debbie Morrell 792-8230 ext. 31097. I was told in order to get service she had to come to my house to complete the documents to request service. I find this odd when I can file for SS Disability on the computer. After almost 3 weeks of playing phone tag I finally got in touch with a real person who told me she had moved to a different department. I would be contacted by a new person. After contacting my BCBS person (Krista) Angel Miller 884-4080 (no extension given) told me she would be here today. I waited outside for her to arrive only to find out she had left me a message to cancel saying her boss required her to to this and she would schedule me "sometime" next week. I called the office and asked to speak to Angel or her "boss" and was told they were both "out". I asked them to let me know what time next week that Angel would come to my house. I have great concerns about this scheduling process. How does one get help from this company? Alert the news media? read more

Highly recommend this wonderful team. Cared for my dad through a very long hospice stay. Juan came for bathing and personal care several times a week, comforted us all with compassion and cheer and built a beautiful relationship with both dad and my mom, showing up with flowers and saying my dad had ordered them for her! Suzie was a fabulous nurse who came with professionalism and wonderful care as well. CAnt recall the names of everyone, or the nurse who came at the very end but I remain so very grateful to this bunch of wonderful compassionate folks who were there for us at such a tough time. read more
