There was absolutely no bad intention behind the question. The male bartender told us that no one name drops anymore. I understood what he was saying and was more than willing to move on. But then I asked him if the bar offered whiskey sours and he responded, "You really don't know what you're doing here and what you want." I was honestly so taken back by that comment. I don't normally stay quiet when someone speaks to me disrespectfully, but I was so caught off guard that I didn't even know what to say. Before that, he had also yelled out to the host that she didn't need to worry because we didn't know the owners and that she could relax. The whole interaction was completely unnecessary and made us feel very uncomfortable. We came in wanting to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. There is a way to speak to customers, even if you feel they are asking questions you don't like. We did nothing to deserve that kind of attitude. The Blind Rabbit may be a great place, but unfortunately, the way we were treated by this bartender completely ruined the experience for us. Customer service matters, and unfortunately, ours was extremely disappointing.

It was hot outside and we wanted to be inside as much as possible, so we were willing to pay the $20 each ($40 total) to use the separate entrance. We literally paid for it for no other reason. You really don't get any other perks--you can drink in there, but you pay for it (drinks are average), you can eat bar food in there, but you pay for it...so if you don't get the perk of using their separate entrance instead of having to wait out in the regular line & go through regular security, what's the point? Well, that's what I was asking myself on June 29th when we were informed that the foundation room entrance into the house of blues seating was not being used that evening. If you eat in the regular restaurant first, you can get an express pass for the line...but at least you also got to eat. There was no reason given as to why we couldn't use that entrance, just a "you'll have to go back outside and back through security and enter with everyone else." When we asked why that wasn't disclosed when we purchased entry for that night, the lady just shrugged...coolcoolcool. So, we paid an additional $40 to walk through the room, buy an overpriced rum and coke, and then have to immediately exit again to go back through security (where they confiscated my gum...I'm a 41 year old adult, I'm not going to put gum on a chair for god's sake) so that we could get inside in time...when we paid to have an ease of entry. Not to mention we had called 2 days prior to ask what time the foundation room opened and never received a return call. Lastly, they clearly don't know the audience. This was a live taping of a themepark pod cast, but the people playing in the foundation room were playing some kind of backwoods country jazz with no lyrics--they were terrible and it made no sense as a precursor to this event. I will never utilize this thing again- it's a waste of money- don't bother--you might as well just pay to eat there so you can skip the line and at least you get dinner that way.

We were encouraged by the hotel staff to visit Parkestry to watch the Disneyland fireworks. The guy tells us they will start in about ninety minutes. Perfect! So we follow the signs and make our way up to Parkestry. It's a well enough appointed space that looks directly over DCA. We ordered a round of martinis, which were fine but surprisingly served in some type of Jack & Jill rather than martini glasses. So 9:33 comes and we're now on our second round of cocktails... no fireworks. We call the waiter over, and he tells us that there are no fireworks on Tuesday nights. Oh! Okay then. We ask for the bill and it's $92 for four martinis. Fine. I pay it and ask for parking validation, which was mentioned by the hotel staffer who pointed us to Parkestry. On the way out of the garage, we found the parking validation bar code we were given was invalid. The other thing I will note is that the tiles on the rooftop are oddly loose as you walk across them. This experience was altogether average and our service was meh. It seems there's potential for this space, and maybe the feel is different on a Friday.

Direct view to see the fireworks (so we thought), chill environment, live music......what isnt there to like. Well, lets see. Not unlike when its cold weather, I see the rooftop bar has heaters everywhere in preparation for cold nights, yet we are in some pretty record breaking heat warning environments in California right now, 92 degrees at 6pm, this was 89 at 9pm, yet not a single fan in sight, not even to just circulate air lightly, which makes all the difference in the world. So its hot, everyone is sweaty, we look through the drink list, we all were super full from dinner somewhere else, and we tried some if their specialty drinks.....the lumiere, the AM after dark, the queen bee , one of our party ordered a double macallan 12. Another a mocktail. Let's start with the lumiere. This is wayyy too sweet. Boba throughout, heavy handed on the simple syrup, and I couldnt taste any vodka. Extremely light handed with the liquor. The Queen Bee is another one that was wayyy to sweet. I just expected them to have some good drinks, but wasnt impressed The friends that had the AM after dark liked it but noted it could have been less sweet. I then make it simple. I order a titos and soda my other friend ordered a titos and cranberry and those were better, no way to hide the liquor with sugar water. Those fireworks we were stoked to see via rooftop could only be seen partially by our party as the design of the seating has some blind spots being blocked by plants for privacy, but total obstruction of any rooftop view unless we turn away from our party and slip in between the plants. Not a great esthetic. Our reservation was for 9. The table wasnt ready til 915 and the server comes to tell us its last call like 30 min after we arrive. We orderd over $250 worth of drinks and were sipping and talking despite the heat we were making the best of it, only to be told they closed and are shutting down the elevator at 10 something. (Why take 9pm reservations?) We noticed however, 4 separate couple at the bar with drinks as well and no one rushing them to an elevator. Was super bizarre. Then they add an automatic service charge/gratuity,which we usually give more than, but noticed since its automatic, u get the service u get. All in all the drinks gave me heart burn and a sugar attack! The set up needs some rethinking. The love band was good, they performed more upbeat, modified versions of recognizable popular songs and I cant complain there. Bathrooms weren't tended to and had two stuffed toilets, no soap in one sink and just wasnt expected. It is also bizarre that a hotel ,near Disney resort and downtown Disney closes the bar so early,where we could barely finish one drink (couldnt finish the sweet ones). So we left when told the elevators would be shut down and headed down to the lobby bar. Here we were met with a pretty awesome server, super great personality, very accommodating. But sadly this bar also makes very sweet drinks versus balanced and also called a very quick last call,lmao. (Weird given the opportunity to really cater to guests in the resort area) The valet staff outside were so awesome!! We were simply waiting for our ride hare pick up and they were interactive with us, fun,kind, hospitable and even opened our car doors for us to get in our rideshare and we totally didnt require or expect it! Those 3 were super great. Sadly,I always end up having to visit this hotel for business or personal events ,so i probably will patronize the lobby bar, but I think this is a no go for Rise Rooftop bar without some serious conceptual upgrades. Comfort should be the forefront of this type of business. Pivot when needed. Light fans , good quality drinks. Reasonable pricing and excellent customer service may create repeat customers. Oh and a Maccalan 12 double for $62 and wasnt a heavy pour double, actually outrageous. Its the 12!!! Anyway, proceed as you wish, but there are so many new bars popping up in the area with real mixologists that make well balanced drinks, cool temperature when its hot outide, warm temperature when its cool outside. Reasonable prices and later hours. I recommend checking those out as well and spread the love. Our group spent a total of almost $700, left sober so didnt even need the users we also paid for, some of us felt ill from the sweet drinks and heartburn from the heavy handed triple sec or cointreau used and just left feeling robbed. Thankfully our friends kept the spirits up, great conversations, the bar in the lobby area allowed us a nice seating area, they were really nice and didnt rush us, we left when ready......so bar lobby, YES. We each tried a Snaquiri, too- and several of these ended up being some of our favorite drinks of the entire trip! Erica sent us off with amazing memories, recommendations, and what was essentially an itinerary and syllabus for our Southern California tiki adventure. Elevators were confusing, of course I went to the one that needed a room key to get to top floor. Had to take a different elevator When I made the reservation online, there was an upcharge of $20 to reserve a table by the window, I didn't do the upcharge for the table as it wasn't a big deal. Got there around 730pm place was about ¼ full, so since there were many table available, I asked for a table by the window. The said ok but "we normally charge $20 for a table by the window", didn't like that comment but understood why they told us. Food: Grilled Spanish Octopus was really good, lots of charcoal flavor from the good char on it. Highly recommend. Roasted Beets and Cheese salad was solid. Picanha Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, good flavor. Solid but not great. Paella Negra was one of the better Paellas we've had. Basque Burnt Cheesecake was good, not great but pretty good. The place is known for their paranoiac views and it sure was great. Sun set was awesome, Saw the fireworks from Disneyland clearly.
