I ordered takeout and got the lunch special, which came with rice and salad. I went with the basil beef, but it had way more veggies than beef, and I was expecting it to be spicy it wasn't at all. We came on a holiday weekday late afternoon and had the spicy scallop roll, green curry with shrimp/rice, and the Yaki Udon with seafood and all of it was well seasoned without being overpowered by salt (which many places tend to do). I came here for lunch. The lunch specials are $8.50-10 not a bad deal. I ordered the garlic shrimp and white rice and my friends got the chicken teriyaki and steak special. The food was very good hey even give you complimentary salad or soup. However, the portions were way to small. I only had 5 pieces of shrimps and the rest was a plate full of peppers and onions. My friend who got steak felt the same it was mostly onions. I think I would recommend this place for sushi because the portions are reasonable but everything else if you're really hungry you might leave hungry. There are two Amaze restaurants near my office/East side. This was my first time at this location. While the lines outside and the crowds inside would make you think it's a great lunch spot, I must say it was only alright. Decent. Totally not worth the wait time - but you can get ahead of the rush and make a reservation! They allow for even my group of 3 at 1:30 pm, weekday lunch. So that was a nice surprise. The service was lacking and we barely got refills on our teas (had to ask twice). Strangely, while we were a table of three, my one friend got a glass of ice water (we did not ask for it) while my other friend and I did not. And we were all present at the table. It was the oddest thing. We all ordered lunch specials but knew to supplement the portion with an extra appetizer or a roll (sushi). Given the price, it was worth the cost but knowning that the portions are not large, we also knew we would not be full. We have healthy appetites and love food. :-) Best bet: sushi and sashimi combo lunch set, instead of ordering the regular set, this deal was more economical and it only has two pieces less. Appetizer: we ordered a satay beef appetizer but none of us cared for the peanut sauce (didn't taste much like peanut at all, but that's what the menu said). Skip the salmon teriyaki bento. Looks better than it tastes. Was not a fan. The salmon didn't taste like much. It was too overcooked for my liking as well, which dried it out. Overall the sushi was the best option. My friend ordered their sesame chicken without the broccoli. To start it comes with a choice of soup and salad. I chose their soup which was miso but they also have hot and sour. For lunch their miso soup was ok. When the entrees came out I was really excited. Their eel roll was really good and the other sushis were pretty good too. I didn't know what their crunchy salmon roll was going to be like but it was pretty delicious. Amaze is a great place for lunch especially if you're in the area! Same as mine, but the small piece of salmon was smothered in teriyaki, which he didn't prefer. I'm sure you can ask for less sauce, we know that now. Also, unless you specify you want brown rice, they bring white. The servers here are quick, and like to get you in and out of their seats quickly as well. We didn't feel rushed per se - it made sense they wanted to clear tables, but there wasn't a wait so we took our time.
