    Lunch Combo Menu

Passed by this place a few times and kept forgetting to come back here for lunch. This location is located in the subway station " Turnstyle Underground Market". I ordered their fish fillet malatong (which is actually a hot pot - not a dry pot). However, it was still good and filling. The order came with fish fillets, sliced potatoes, cabbage, noodles, seaweed, etc. It also comes with a container of rice and an extra half-pint container of soup. This would be like 2 meals for me - very hearty. I would come back again to try the other flavors. My total was $18.50 (including tax). You can order direct for pick up via their qr code/link below: https://order.mealkeyway.com/customer/release/index?mid=5050306a7a454133354f6f5170566d524471336955773d3d&couponCode=LIONS#/main

Braised beef over rice examples, sliced, not good quality, the kind of beef you find in soups.
    Randy M.

I got the braised beef over rice. Unfortunately, the beef did not appear to be the same beef that was in the picture they advertise. The beef I received was sliced, as if from a deli, the quality not as good, with each slice having fat and cartilage-like strips (see pix). In fact, this is usually the type of beef that Chinese restaurants place in soups, not over rice plates. The food that appears on the ad picture ought to at least resemble the way it is actually served. Oh well, I guess I'm not coming here again!

    House Grilled Chicken over noodles.
    Ally W.

It seems my dish was the most Americanized dish on the menu... House Grilled Chicken. I opted for noodles instead of rice. The serving size could have been split into 2 meals - a great value. The flavors were very lacking, noodles were swimming in greasy sauce, and barely any vegetables

    Butter Grilled Shrimp

This traditional Asian restaurant seems to be starting up pretty well. I appreciated the decor of the establishment immediately upon arriving. The colors and lighting made it very attractive and I felt a lot more compelled to order. The man at the counter was very welcoming and there was a lot of presentation for what's available on the menu. I ordered the butter grilled shrimp with white rice (note: this menu seems to be very diverse, they also have chicken wraps and sweet potato fries) which came up to about $17 including tax. The first thing I noticed was the generous portion of shrimp that was included. Not only were they jumbo shrimp, but the container was filled with them so I was able to get a satisfying filling. The shrimp were grilled very well: the bite was firm but not resistant, the butter was notable, and the sauce provided created a nice flavor. I feel as if the sauce could have been a bit more potent, but the flavor was enjoyable for what was there. The rice had quite a unique taste and texture on its own, which was great. The vegetables supplemented the taste and texture of the meal overall. Particularly, I enjoyed how the broccoli matched up with the shrimp. It was a very interesting experience combining these ingredients and observing different sensations. Overall, I greatly recommend this restaurant. This new Lions Gate has the eye of the tiger.

    Extra soup for malatang
    Susan Z.

They have good malatang. I ordered the fish malatang with medium spicy. $14.99. super filling because it comes with rice and extra soup to add to the malatang. Very nice staff and quick service. You do have to wait for the food to cook but it's like a 10minute wait. The soup is delicious and it has noodles so the rice was a big unnecessary. This is enough for 2 people in my opinion. Next time I'll order spicy instead of medium because I love spicy food. You can also order not spicy aka the white soup which is rich and creamy but not spicy at all.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

We asked if we were able to just sit at a table for drinks, she said yes. The wine selection was minimal and not good, but we ordered 2 glasses anyway. He begrudgingly said okay. After being there 10 minutes, we decided we wanted an appetizer so went for the tuna crudo. Not did it taste awful, it didn't even look appealing. It also oddly came out with a massive piece of grilled bread?! Bizarre combo. Do yourself a favor and just sit in Bryant Park, don't waste your money here.

We loved it so much we went back and second time for dinner. The first night we sat at the bar (it was crowded and we didn't have reservations) and made some friends who recommended Ivan's (the bartender) espresso martinis. Although we were drinking some white wine we decided after finishing those we would try them. Ivan makes them special with a little Bailey's! They were incredible! Like a dessert but not too sweet. Ivan shared his recommendations with us and we had some good conversation. We ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and Brussels salad as well. All very tasty. A couple of nights later we went back and had the rigatoni with red sauce which was phenomenal and our favorite and the Toscana salad, also great. The pastas taste homemade and everything is so fresh, including the bread. We of course ordered espresso martinis again and Ivan thought it might be us again and came by to say hi. He makes the restaurant feel like family! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in my next visit. It is now my favorite restaurant in New York! Thank you so much Ivan!

I sat at the bar and ordered a simple pasta with red sauce, some meatballs, and broccolini. The pasta was perfectly al dente and absorbed the red sauce nicely. I appreciate that I was not offered grated cheese or fresh ground pepper. It was served as the chef intended, showing off the tomatoes, accented only by the herbs and spices. It was not too oily either, if anything it could have had a touch more, but again this let the tomatoes come through. The pork and beef. meatballs are dense and served in a thickened tomato sauce. The bread that comes with it is nice for finishing that gorgeous sauce which does have a sprinkling of parm. The broccolini had a a touch of garlic and served with a lemon. You can judge a restaurant by its guests. The other solo diners beside me were locals, there for the food. Next time I'll try the vodka sauce with burrata.
