Chocolate cake.

We were excited to finally try this place after hearing so many great reviews. We did a late lunch and we were seated upon arrival. The food, service and atmosphere were great. I had the Tour of Italy - lasagne, chicken parm and fettuccini Alfredo. Muffin ordered the eggplant parm. Everything was very tasty and delicious. The bread was good, but needs a little something-something (rosemary, thyme, and salt). On that note, they don't over salt their food and that's a plus. For desserts we tried the tiramisu and chocolate cake. Chocolate cake was delicious - well worth the calories, tiramisu - not so much. All in all, very good dining experience, definitely recommend!

My first visit was last Friday and I fell in love with this place. My son and I are big "foodies" always looking for our next food spot. Amata did not disappoint. We enjoyed it so much we went back on Sunday after church. The food was delicious. The "stretch" on the baked ziti and manicotti dishes was amazing. The mussels and barratta appetizers are a must try. The herb oil dip was a big plus with the rolls. The servers were nice and friendly trying to keep things moving in a full house. This is not commercial Italian, it's fresh, vibrant, delicious and inviting. Welcome to Columbus Amata! Best wishes!

A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

Please get the bread sticks! They are stuffed with onions and meat, so not your typical bread sticks! I get this pasta every time because I just love Mediterranean flare food married to Italian food. If you like tiramisu, please try theirs. It comes in a champaign flute and the presentation is very nice. The only con I will say is that my pasta is not seasoned but something I can easily do at the table after receiving my meal!

For us Bama fans, the afternoon turned out far better than what the football team put on the field a few days earlier. The basketball team showed up ready to play and made up for that New Year's Day disappointment. But let's be honest--we were really here for Italian food, and DePalma's was happy to oblige. It had been over a year since we last stepped inside this establishment, not because of any past experiences, but simply because this place stays busy. On a typical weekend, folks are packed in here like cordwood, and the sidewalk outside looks like someone kicked over an ant farm. That said, there's a reason for the crowd--DePalma's consistently delivers good Italian eats. The old building still carries plenty of character, with wine bottles lining the walls and the nostalgic bar where an old pharmacy once served Coke and a smile. These days, instead of sodas and prescriptions, they're rolling dough and making pasta behind that same bar, and I'd say that's a pretty solid upgrade. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were outstanding. When we finished, the plate was so clean you could've put it back in the cabinet--only a few grains of salt remained as evidence they were ever there. For my meal, I ordered the pine nut-crusted salmon along with a Caesar salad. It was my first time having their salmon, and it definitely won't be my last. The dish was excellent--well-prepared, flavorful, and proof that stepping outside your usual order at DePalma's can pay off. I've eaten here many times over the years and can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. Great food, great service, and great company--even the Kentucky fans who made the trip down to watch their beloved Cats get smacked around on the hardwood. All in all, DePalma's remains a Tuscaloosa staple for a reason. Crowded? Usually. Worth it? Absolutely.

A quaint row of old brick buildings lined the street on both sides. Absolutely love the old school vibe of this place. We entered Nico's and were immediately seated at a booth. Menus given and drink orders were taken quickly. We the. Ordered a Margherita pizza and thick bacon for an appetizer. For dinner, lasagna and chicken parm. The starters came and both the pizza and bacon were delicious. The pizza was hot and had a crisp crust and the bacon with the goat cheese was delicious. The main course came and both the lasagna and the chicken parm were cooked perfectly and also delicious. It was nice to get away from Oxford and the Oxford dinner prices at the square: Nico's has delicious food, a really cool old school bar and the pricing is a delight compared to Oxford. I would absolutely recommend Nico's and their great food and servers. I cannot wait to go back next month when I'm back in the area

The food was great! Very tasty and on par with high class Italian restaurants in larger markets. Way beyond your typical Olive Garden or Carrabbas. More on par with Amerigo, Maggiano's, and local Italian places. Much better than the places I ate in Rome, Venice, and Florence. Of course, Americanized versions are more flavorful in my opinion. I loved the shrimp scampi, chicken Marsala, loaded baked potato casserole, and linguini. Look forward to going back soon and trying their pizzas.
