I was sitting at my desk one morning, pants unbuckled and thought yeeeaaa I need to figure this out lol. I knew I needed some guidance when it came to working out otherwise I would be too overwhelmed to figure it out alone. Luckily, I came across this yelp page and messaged Miros on instagram. She let me bring my best friend and we've been seeing her 2-3 times a week for the last 3 months. It took a while for me to see or feel any progress especially after the holidays and my PCOS but Miros was always so encouraging. She would check in with us regarding our meal plans without ever making us feel judged. She pushed us to do more every session and on days when our bodies just weren't feeling it she would modify the workout so we were able to get through it. I hang out with her a lot, but it wasn't until this past Saturday when I've actually worked out with her at one of her Saturday morning boot camp sessions by the beach. We've been saying we should work out together forEVER but it was usually a scheduling thing that prevented me from doing anything regular with her. Besides, I was always training for one marathon or another and when you're doing that there's very little time for other kinds of physical training (well, for me, anyway :P). Since my next half marathon training won't be starting up for a few months, I thought it'd be a great chance to check out one of her boot camp sessions. It was a great cross-training opportunity for me, since I run mostly and even when I do weights at the gym I don't really push myself all that much. Plus, it's not as expensive when you do a group class. Spring is here and it's really nice to be exercising outdoors anyway. I must say, my first workout was pretty intense--I ended up doing all the stuff I usually avoid, like lunges, push ups, running up and down stairs, etc etc. It was very challenging, which was great, but if some of the stuff gets to be too much you can totally modify to suit your fitness level. Jesika never yells or screams at you (unless you want her to) but she'll work you hard. Even though I whined and complained and got really sore from taxing some unused muscles, I'll be going back for more next week.
