After getting my lab results, she incorrectly diagnosed me as "Diabetic" even though it is common practice to have more that 3 high A1C readings before pronouncing that diagnosis. Frankly, she shocked me when she told me I was diabetic. She sent me to see her useless dietician, presumably so she could bill Medicare for these service. I did not authorize the dietician visits, not was I aware that she had to note me as "diabetic" in order for the services to be covered. I had to ask her to delete the diagnosis which I am not sure she ever did. This is not the first time she shocked or scared me. Later, she told me I needed to come in for fluids because my Sodium levels were low. When I rushed down, after cancelling other commitments, she said I did not need fluids after all, to just drink more water. The last straw was when she ordered labs tests that I found out from Quest, were "not medically necessary", and I ended up with a close to $500 bill. I worked with her office staff for 5 months (yes, 5 months!) to get this bill reduced. I never got an answer as to why she ordered 3 tests that were not deemed a medical necessity. One is supposed to sign a waiver when presented with a test or procedure that Medicare may not cover. I was never asked to sign the Medicare waiver. This sounds like malpractice to me. When I called the front office staff they would bounce me from one person to the next, wanting me to give the whole story over and over again. They would put me on hold for 10 or 20 minutes, no problem. The person I was working with, Brianna, was always "busy on another line", or "just stepped out". When I finally did speak with Brianna, she would say that she hadn't gotten around to my issue and to give her another month. She told me that the lab could not send me to collections for a long time. I finally just paid the lab bill to get this resolved and off of my desk. I would not recommend Dr Loomis or her staff or office to anyone looking to have a meaningful relationship with their primary care doctor. If this is how they treat me when I am basically healthy, what kind of care will they give when really needed. Save your time and find a competent, caring doctor.

I went to both the Long Beach and Irvine facilities a total of seven times for vein treatment. After multiple ultra-sounds and two sessions of the same photos of my leg, follow-ups, etc., my leg looks exactly the same as it did before my first appointment. There is absolutely no improvement in the vein situation in my leg. I will say that everyone was very professional and the attention to detail regarding cleaniness was excellent. Unfortunately, that didn't eliminate the spider veins in my leg. I never knew what was going to happen at the next visit until I was in the room. I kept going back, but only three small veins in the back of my leg were treated. A varicose vein was cauterized (not sure of the medical term); other than those things, nothing was done. The woman who did the ultra sounds should work on being more personable. There was little communication on her part. The owner of the business keeps apologizing to patients who give the clinic low ratings. Instead of apologies, it might be a good idea to work on improving your treatment of patients. My insurance company paid you thousands, yet I have no results.

In fact, my hair stylist said that my hair grew it more than twice the normal pace after I had received those IV treatments at Dr. Mena's facility (and a short, similar treatment on a trip to Arizona just before). I called and they said they could do it, and it would cost $750 to do the consultation and testing. This seemed quite high, but I've been desperate to get a proper diagnosis and treatment so I agreed. They asked for my credit card to have on file, and we scheduled an appointment for the following week. Right as we were about to hang up, the woman on the phone said something had opened up the next day, and I agreed to take that appointment. After a bit more research, I found places that would do adrenal testing for 1/3 of the cost. I called back within an hour to cancel my appointment, and the woman on the phone said that I couldn't cancel within a 48 hour window of my appointment without paying a fee. I asked what the fee was, and she said the entire $750 consultation fee. She never mentioned anything about this when she took my CC info. I tried to argue with her, as this was clearly ridiculous and she had just changed my appointment time an hour earlier to be within this window. She wouldn't budge one bit. So, with no other option, I went to the appointment. The doctor was friendly and listened, but at the end of the appt she gave me a quote for $2400 to have the testing done (adrenals and then a few others) and then I would have to pay ANOTHER consultation fee for her to give me the readings. I told her that the woman I spoke to on the phone said the testing was included in the consultation, and she said I had misunderstood. I know that these "alternative" doctors have less regulation, but I have had good success with others and was open to trying something new. The way this all unfolded felt like a tremendous scam, before I even got to trying the treatment. When I told the doctor I could not afford all of this, she suggested putting it all on a credit card and figuring out the payment later. I'm still deeply disappointed that I lost all that money in such a sketchy way, and it has set me back even further on being able to find proper treatment and get healthy.
