This is a warning to future homeowners looking for new doors: We don't want you to make the same…read moremistakes that we made by selecting Castle Doors as your door contractor. Chapter: 3 It is now mid-October of 2025, when I noticed the caulking that was applied in April of 2025, began to fail. On October 23, 2025, photographs were taken and sent via email to both the Owner and the Operations Manager for their assessment. There was no response from Castle Door regarding this matter. On October 28, 2025, I telephoned Castle Doors and spoke with the Operations Manager regarding the correspondence that was sent on October 23, 2025. I was informed that they didn't receive my correspondence on October 23, 2025. During our brief telephone conversation, the Operations Manager stated that he would need to research this and get back to me. Later that afternoon, I received a response from the Operations Manager informing me that this is a normal condition, that this was an aesthetic issue. I indicated that this is not normal and that his response was not acceptable. He agreed to research this further and get back to me. On October 31, 2025, I telephoned their Operation Manager for an update. Again, I was told this condition was normal. I informed him that the door assembly and trim in place prior to Castle Doors installation was painted black in 2016 and there no issues with either the caulking or paint. I sent an email to both the Owner and Operations Manager requesting that Castle Doors provide me with the product name and product number for the caulking and paint that was used. I received an email from the Owner indicating the paint is peeling off the caulking. He indicated they were willing to address this issue by using new black caulking, which will not be painted. I was also informed that anything painted black with full sun exposure was going to be problematic. On November 10, 2025, email correspondence was sent to the Owner of Castle Doors stating that as a professional, this should have been addressed prior to caulking and painting. It amazes me that this determination could be made by looking at photos and not performing a site visit. They indicated that they are willing to address this issue by using new black caulk, without paint. But did not provide the process of how this repair was to be made. In this email, I asked for the following items to be addressed: 1. Have a Sherwin-Williams representative perform a visit the site and examine the caulking and paint and provide a method of repair. 2. Provide both the product names and product numbers for the caulking and paint used. 3. Provide me with a current Certificate of Insurance from Castle Doors prior to any work being performed. On December 8, 2025, email correspondence was issued to the Owner of Castle Doors stating that it had been weeks since my last email requesting Castle Doors repair method for the caulking/paint issues that have occurred on our entry doors, as well as a current Certificate of Insurance from Castle Doors. I asked them to provide this documentation ASAP, so that this work could be scheduled and corrected. A response was provided by the Owner indicating that in his email dated October 31, 2025, requesting confirmation that we wanted Castle Door to proceed with new black caulking. "If you want Castle Doors to proceed, we will schedule this work when we can, making sure the weather is appropriate for caulking". Correspondence was resent asking that Castle Doors provide me with the documentation requested. Upon reviewing the repair method and your Certificate of Insurance, we would be able to schedule this repair using the black caulking. The Owner responded within four minutes of my request stating that "we did not require insurance documentation when Castle Doors installed these doors, so we will not provide that information now". If you choose to use this company, please be sure to get a current certificate of insurance. I asked the owner how he intended to remove what was currently in place and rectify it with new black caulking. Castle Doors response was "there's not much explanation to give". We will use hand tools to remove the existing caulking, and then apply the new, black caulking. I asked that Castle Doors schedule this work ASAP. On December 10, 2025, I received correspondence from Castle Doors stating that it would likely have to be after the first of the year, as we will need it to be a day with temperatures over 50 degrees. Chapter: 4 to follow.

We will def use them again for the rest of our windows! We replaced an old builder grade front door and put storm doors on all exterior doors. The front door is composite but it looks like real wood. It is really beautiful. The installations were all perfect and comprehensive. The Cambridge crew did a great job on everything: professional, great work, on time, and neat. Diana coordinated the installations and kept us well informed at all stages. One small hiccup is being resolved as I write this. They don't have a big crew so we had to be a bit flexible on scheduling, but they show up when they say they will and work hard the whole time. We will definitely use them again when we replace French doors on patio. Highly recommend this company, we are happy with everything!

Diana was amazing during her explanation of some of the features and their benefits of different styles of doors. She truly listened to our needs and showed several options. Then Mike came out and evaluated where the new door would go. He was meticulous about asking what we wanted at each step, which was SO appreciated! I could tell he was very knowledgeable and he laid out what the process would look like, how long it would take, and assured me that I could reach out with any questions. Even when the team came out to do the work (which was sooner than originally expected but we were glad!), Mike stopped by to make sure we were set up right for the day. His team was very respectful of my home and us. They were quick and thorough. And lastly, the door is GORGEOUS and I'm so glad I chose Cambridge Doors and Windows. I'll definitely be calling them when I replace 2 other doors I want to change out.

To be fair, the lack of communication and games they play made me go with Doors of Houston and not…read morethem. I called was told that it would be around $500. I said wow and that it was only $400 to install but ok and I was sent a canned text message to my phone to send 4 pictures, measurements, and contact info. I sent them everything but didn't hear back until the next day and it was the same canned text verbiage back but they added the email address. So I sent the same thing again to the email address, 6 pictures, measurements and contact info. Crickets and tumble weeds for two days again. So I resent the email and a couple of days later finally the next day, Then finally, I get the same canned message telling me to email them 4 pictures, measurements and contact info. Now I am getting worried that all my training as a CSR at AT&T's U-verse department has gone by the way side. However, I still needed my door fixed and besides they had installed it when I first got it and I knew that they would surely stand by their install. However, they never told me what they weren't getting, me I could not tell what was the problem because it all went through without bouncing back and they would only answer in canned responses and not tell me what I might have forgotten or didn't go through my message. So after checking everything out, all looked well and it had been a week now without a front door, I sent it again. A couple of days later, i get another canned message to send them 4 pictures, measurements and contact info. So I sent it two more times from different email addresses thinking that maybe it's Google's fault. After not hearing again from them, I went back to texting them and explaining that I had not a clue as to what they weren't getting from my emails but that I knew that they were receiving them because I got the same canned messages back twice out of the six time that I sent it to them but they never took the time to tell me what was missing the pictures? measurements? Contact info? or what? So I finally get a personalized message with the following excuses, Excuse one: He texted back that they were on an emergency install. Excuse two: he texted me back to say that they get 40 text messages a day and they just get lost. Excuse three: finally a personalized email comes back saying that he was playing catch up after a family emergency but it would be $500. I don't know if he really had three different excuses but I got three after two weeks of not having a front door. I almost answered his email back to say that I was so very sorry about his family emergency and hope that everything was alright. But a friend stopped me and asked why was I apologizing, I didn't do anything wrong and like she said, at this point it did sounded like a scam. I was willing to pay the $500 estimate for a job that he said he never saw my emails because he lost my text messages, and/or was too busy to acknowledge my emails to explain what was missing because of an emergency install and/or the family emergency. Stick to one excuse and it might have been more believable. So there you have it folks, plenty of excuses and no door after two weeks made me decide that if it was a communication problem before the work started, I figure it was not going to get any better after the work started. So I called Doors Svc of Houston and they had the front door fixed by noon the next day and fixed my patio door handle while they were there too. I got two doors repaired for $300 less than The Door Guys were to fix just the one door.
