I failed to communicate properly which sets of our fence line needed replacing, which led to an incorrect section being knocked down. Not only did they construct sturdy, nice looking replacements for our needed areas, but they used all the best from the taken down sections to repair the incorrect section. The process started off well and we agreed to a price that he kept increasing because we wanted the best fencing and he wanted more money. He charged one of the highest prices in our area for what we got but we agreed to get it done. Jose always called me back before we paid him. However, though he was NOT fully finished (yet all paid up) the calls went to VM and it was full. He didn't have much more to do on the gate area but the gate problem was because he did not install it correctly and according to the Harris county code. He agreed (through texting) to come back 3 times to finish it and did not show up or reach out. I don't like to chase people around to get a job finished right. We have a nice home and Jose originally left our gate less secure. This was disturbing. After he and his worker left, we also found out that our gate lock had been filled in with concrete (see picture below) and no one else did concrete work on or near our home. It was packed down in the hole as if the lock was sabotaged. This is weird and immature. Also, his invoice address shows up as a huge apartment complex (in Houston) but gives no Apt #. We later found that he does not even live there. His W9 (which he reluctantly gave) may or may not show his address. His father does not seem to work with him any longer. If you use him please be sure to take a picture of his license and get his insurance and W9. We were not sure he would come back after he told us to pay 100% up front. We did not and we told him we would give 50% as he originally said (but pretended to forget)? Anyone who can't buy materials up front and then get that money when they deliver the material is probably not good with the money or not successful enough to fund the next job and at some point their need for your money may be greater than their need to do your work. Then, there will be victims. So, please get all the info and do not pay up front. The fact that he was hiding his address and his last name is a huge red flag. Please keep this in mind when hiring him. Get a copy of his ID too. We had a neighbor ask who did our fence and I would not recommend him because he did not "finish well" and we could not have treated him better. I even went out to help sand down part of the gate so it would fit better but we should have had him remake it instead of piecing it together. We now need to have someone else come out and fix his negligent work OR was the fence security created to be inferior on purpose? Also, I'm wondering why people from "Chicago" leave gate reviews? I tagged this company on yelp and they come back within a couple of hours than met me at my daughters house on time on a Saturday they were professional and sent a bid in within the hour. I explained I needed to send the plans to HOA prior to them starting. I got a few different quotes from different companies. Some responded, some didn't respond; etc. Most were overly priced. Jose however, was very quick to respond and fair with pricing. He came out when he said he would for an estimate. I had fence repair of about 72 LF. He also did tin roof repair on my deck. He was professional, friendly, punctual. About a week later I noticed a couple of splintered boards and he came out right away and replaced them.
