When I went to fire up the boiler for the first time pre-winter the pilot (or ignition or whatever) wouldn't light and just clicked incessently. So I turned it off at the power source and called the local "5 Star" Heating and Air place (their name rhymes with 4 Bleasons). Who promptly sent a tech out that spent 15 minutes with the unit (maybe more maybe less, I didn't time) and declared that I needed new parts in excess of $1,300 (charging me $85 for that quote) ALWAYS, ALWAYS - A.L.W.A.Y.S. - Get a second opinion. My home warranty co. called Always Air - I'd assumed they would come out, take another quick look and make the same diagnosis. Hal showed up and spent a little less time and told me all I needed was a cleaning. For SIGNIFICANTLY less than what the other Co. had quoted me - Hal got my system up and running AND TRAINED ME ON PROPER USE OF IT (something the other Co. never bothered to help with). If you need HVAC repair - call Always Air FIRST and you probably won't need a second opinion. $130 I paid him and he had my whole system up and running read more

Our AC went out 2 days ago, just before having company on the 4th of July holiday weekend. It turned out to need a complete replacement, and Always Air was able to have someone come out for emergency service right away. Then they scheduled to replace the AC today, and did a quality job. We're glad to have some relief from the 90-degree heat so soon. In general, it's terrible to have the AC go out on a hot day, but Always Air was pleasant to work with, understanding, and respectful. Excellent. Small, completely family owned and operated. Will not screw you like Four Seasons, All Temp, and the rest of the corporate run goons. I once had All Temp try to charge me $120 for a part I later found on Amazon costs about $10, and took about 5 minutes to install... and this was a week after they had been out to "clean and service" my air conditioner. Furnace went out this winter. I called Four Seasons following the previous b.s. with All Temp. I told the service guy about my previous experience with All Temp and he quite comfortably and casually told me, "Yup, well all do it. The government tried to tried to help out once and offer a $1000 rebate program on new units. The next day we all raised our prices $1200." He then quoted me $4800 for a new furnace... after doing me a "huge favor" and calling his manager (like a used car salesman) to get me some "special discount" and knock it down from about $5700. Luckily I remembered seeing my new neighbor often had an HVAC van in his driveway, so I gave him a call. He told me he, his dad, and his brother have a small, family owned company called Always Air. Good, honest, decent people. Quoted me $2700 to install a new furnace. Took him less than 3 hours to install, removed all the old equipment, cleaned everything up before he left, and told me how to get the length of the warranty on the furnace DOUBLED, just by registering it. This industry is an absolute racket and needs A TON of regulation on what they are allowed to charge for parts, etc. Thank goodness for honest, decent companies like Always Air. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Like Ralph E, we also have American Home Shield. We have a vintage home and a 20+ year old furnace. We're really lucky and have barely had any issues with our furnace since we moved into our home 10 years ago (knock on wood). Last year we had a tiny snafu when I changed the batteries and forgot to turn off the thermostat...don't ever do that BTW. This year I turned off the thermostat and changed the batteries and our furnace refused to kick in after that. We contacted our insurance company and they directed us to Always Air, who called us the very next day. That being said, we ended up needing a new igniter module, and Matt was the genius who came out and worked his magic. On the first day he assessed the problem and ordered the part. Today he finished up the job, and we also had him clean the furnace. Matt is a great guy with a positive attitude. He did clean work, he wore booties, and he worked around our crazy schedules (not an easy thing to do). These guys were on it! I'd be proud to refer them to anyone. read more

I have had this company service my HVAC since 2013 and I have had some questionable repair bills but I've let them slide. The last time they were out was the summer of 2020 when my 2nd floor AC unit wasn't working and Hal came out to fix it and he suggested that I have him check the 1st floor (which was working fine) I agreed and was charged for the check on that unit . Sure enough it breaks 2 days later Hal comes back out and charges me for the repair and the service call ??? It's 2021 now and I just turned on my AC and the 2nd floor unit isn't working properly. Hal came to the rescue when our AC went out during a heat wave this July. We have appliance insurance, but I was still concerned that our old unit was dead. Hal immediately reassured me and told me he had worked many times with our insurer and knew exactly how to help us get back up and running with our existing unit. He made several suggestions regarding cleaning, freon, etc. I thought we'd be without AC for days, but within 40 minutes, he serviced both the the upstairs and downstairs units and we felt the rush of cold air upstairs. That said, my neighbor used them for some repairs and due to the location of their AC unit, they asked to park their truck in my driveway. I noticed a couple days later as I was preparing to have my driveway sealed, that the truck left a huge oil stain on my driveway. My sealcoating company charges my $25 to clean it up. When I called Always Air about it, I got some line about how he just got an oil change so it couldn't be him. Also that he would 'be in trouble' because he was in all these driveways on the north shore. Implying that mine was a POS. Trust me it is not. read more

Details: Had Always Air (AA) come out this year to perform seasonal maintenance on my furnace, they found a cracked heat exchanger. Insurance balked and asked for a second opinion, and the second company came and found no issues. What really impressed me about AA, is when their finding was overturned, the head technician personally called me and came out to give a third inspection. He arrived, and showed me everything he found (he found substantially more problems than the first two visits), and walked me through his entire inspection process. I would give Almost Air 10 stars if I could. I've never had such excellent customer care. I returned home from a business trip just in time for the mid April snow storm. It wasn't long before I realized my heat wasn't working. It was a Saturday night and I'm the mother of a medically fragile child who in addition to her complicated genetic disorder suffers from Vaso Motor Dysfunction. That means her body doesn't regulate temperature like a healthy person. Extreme temperatures can become dangerous for her. I left a message for Almost Air in their voice mail expecting to get a call back Monday morning. Much to my surprise, as I was packing a suitcase planning our escape to a nearby hotel, Hal called. He showed so much empathy & concern and was at my house within 30 minutes. He needed to order a part, so we did end up with a staycation in a nearby hotel, but as promised (and how often does that happen) he maintained great communication with me. He returned to install the part the same day it came in. Hal & his coworker were careful not to track wet dirty shoes through our home. They worked quietly while my husband was on an international business call just outside their workspace. When hours after they left, the old unit of ours quit working again he quickly dispatched Matt our to our home with another new part he thought we might need but didn't want to unnecessarily install it & add cost. We are happy & warm now just in time for April's spring weather to warm up. This company came out as part of my home warranty claim. I needed a new heat exchanger, however they tried to push a brand new furnace on us. They stated that my warranty can pay $300 And we pay the remaining $2k more or less. We did not agree. They stated my warranty will not cover a new system... this is far from the truth, as my warranty company confirmed they would cover all costs, if the furnace must be replaced. The very nice, I say this sarcastically, secretary called me the next day. When I told her we were choosing the heat exchange repair, she made me feel as I had to explain myself as to why we can't dish out 2k in cash. So, they still found a way to pull one over my head. They said I needed to replace a flu pipe with an out of pocket cost of $300, that my warranty conveniently does not cover -_- I had no choice, so I paid it. The furnace was running again. The day after, I noticed a very loud banging and shaking noise throughout my house, everytime the furnace came on. My kitchen floor was shaking. I knew this couldn't be right. My warranty sent this company out again. The first response to my husband was "I told you, you were going to need a new furnace." He went and "checked it out," came back and said that the warranty does not cover "noise." He said we need to replace the motor, once it completely fails, and would cost us $700. That is the report he submitted to my home warranty company. So, I fought it. I asked for a second opinion and my company granted it. I will let you all be the judge of what the second company found. A NUT DRIVER IN THE BLOWER MOTOR COMPARTMENT. Oh, and tape on my OLD flu pipe. I will try to attach pictures to my review. This company has ZERO integrity, clearly did not even check the furnace the second time or he would have found his tools. I am so disappointed and will make sure to warn others of this scam. I woke up to a cold house. Checked the thermostat and something was definitely wrong as the house was way colder than what I had set the thermostat to. I called Always Air. They came out promptly. The technician was courteous and explained to me that the ignitor went out. He gave the furnace a cleaning and installed the new ignitor. Had a great experience with Always Air today. Hal came out to do a clean and inspect on our furnace. We recently moved into our new home and our house had been sitting on the market for two years. I was expecting the worst. This is probably the best service one can expect. We had furnace breakdown last month. We got referred to always air, and they responded very promptly. The technician gave full time in understanding the whole furnace thing and suggested a great new one from Bryant.initially we were not sure but During installation we had excellent service experience from Matt. He is a master of his field, very knowledgeable and very humble to ask and talk to, unlike others i came through, who dont even listen what is being asked. Well Matt is genious and installed our new furnace very efficiently and effectively .Always air seems to be concerned for their clients and they did ask if everything went well . Called Always Air because my furnace was not heating although it was running. We scheduled a appointment & they were able to call me when they were on their way so I could stay at work as long as possible. Hall Lee was my tech & he found the problem, but recommended that my furnace be replaced due to it's age & overall condition. My budget didn't allow for that so I had him replace the part causing the problem. Everything was running fine. Then that Saturday we woke up to a cold house with outside temps of 10 degrees. Called Hal & he came out within 1 hour & said I definitely needed a new furnace. He had 20 minutes to get to his supplier to pick a new unit. I gave him approval & within the hour he returned to my home to install the new furnace. I had a funeral to go to so I left Hal at my home to complete the work. I was a little nervous leaving someone I didn't know at my home. I got a call from Hal that afternoon & he said the work was done. When I got home the house was warm & he did a great job of cleaning up from the installation.
