Tech went as scheduled and told me he did a quick check at the unit and then to the electrical panel. And said now if he needs to go into diagnosis, it will cost $175 , and either he can fix it OR that $175 will be used to swap a new unit at $4xx. Since I'm remote, I can only agree to it to move forward. 10mins later, got a call from the tech saying, "there are good and bad news! Good news, the unit was indeed completely fine and it's working alright. The unit was slightly "UNPLUGGED" from the outlet and it works perfectly after I plugged it back in. Bad news, the $175 is due. " I appreciate that the "diagnosis" save me hundreds instead of replacing a fully working unit, but I would have thought the first free initial check should have looked at the connection in the first place. Definitely feel a bit rip off BUT they did give me a small discount in the end. I'm not expecting free work BUT $150 to get someone out to plug it back in? Is that the norm?

The repair technician Angel Perez was just that, an absolute angel. He was unbelievably kind and knowledgeable. After meeting with him and hearing him speak to other members of the company over the phone, I knew this was a special company. The employees spoke to each other like family. Once I submitted my signed contact online, Angel thanked me for choosing them and welcomed me to the family. Contract provides excellent warranty on parts and labor. Unit included install of ecobee smart thermostat, which I am in love with! Not sure how I got by all this time without one. By far the best quoted price out of the four I received. On the day of installation I received a text update with a photo and name of the lead installation technician Jon Neves. He and his team arrived right now time and finished the work exactly at their provided estimated completion time. The team placed a mat by the front door entrance to my house, which was a very nice touch, covered carpeted areas where they would be walking. After the job was complete they vacuumed their work space and it was like they weren't even in the house. The group of guys working in the installation took great care in everything they did. My installation required a crane to get the unit on top of my house and The Purple Crane was in and out quickly. The crane didn't disrupt my neighbors or even the trash service that morning. The crane was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Highly recommend Steve's 5 Star Service. They offer a service membership for less than $20 a month to handle HVAC tune ups, water heater flushes, and any service needs. You read that correctly, they also do plumbing! I'd purchased a replacement for another house years ago so just needed it installed. $398 for install only. Job took less than an hour. I did it because I didn't have a lot of time to get it done. I called around and could have gotten it done for 1/2 that. Lesson learned... I can't say I won't use them again but it would have to be for an emergency only, as they are super responsive.

Decided to give these guys a try so called them and was able to make a same day appointment. Robert texted ahead of time and arrived within the arrival window. He was very nice, answered all my questions, and fixed 1/4 problems we had. One other issue he says could not be fixed and another he could not find a problem to fix. For the last problem, he said he to see if he could get the part and that he would get back to me. If he made an effort to reach out I missed it and as far as I know he never followed up. Since I was surprised that a special part was needed, I went out to get my own part and will try to fix it myself later. He did fix the main issue we called him out for. Given the mixed experience, I will likely try one of the many other eager plumbers who contacted me on Yelp and give one of them a try in the future, but I will not be opposed to using WR again.
