The headlight went out on my 2021 Hyundai venue Bought the new light for under 20 dollars at Walmart stopped by Alvarado repair figuring it d be worth 20 bucks to let them put the new in. Contacted a supposed mechanic didn't get his name had to find him first so was out in the mobile tool guys van Told him what I needed, had already checked it out on his to replace it, after he supposedly looked up my Vin went in for couple minutes then when he came out said he was going ti have to remove the front grill and would be 1.9 hours for the drivers side and about the same for the other side.I told him I don't think so so he told me I could check other places if I wanted to. I went home and it took me about 10 minutes to pull the old one out and put the new one in. He probably saw I'm senior ( be 70 in three weeks ) and thought he could take advantage of me but I couldn't get his name. read more

Mr. Alvarez I and my wife would like to personally thank you and your crew for assisting us: On 1June we were traveling back from San Diego, Ca heading to Virginia Beach Va. We were on route 260 just outside of Heber Az when we had a flat. It was around 12:30 am in a spot were no one wants to be (in the mountains in the dark). Cell phone service was little to none, but we got through to emergency services. They sent a trooper out who said that the wrecker was trying to call you but it kept going to voice mail. (poor cell service). So the trooper returned the call for us. We waited not knowing how far he was away. Finally we saw the yellow lights of the wrecker, what a wonder feeling. I can't remember the young man name. He was very professional, kind and very sensitive to our needs. He got us loaded up and parked the vehicle at the Best Western were we stayed for the night. This company went above and beyond when Earnhardt Toyota refused to warranty their faulty transmission. We picked up on Highlander after hours and just now my husband showed me the receipt. Alvarez Auto decided to buy our transmission for us after fighting with Toyota for months. I am almost in tears with how much Alvarez Auto did for us. Four shops checked your estimates including a certified chevy dealership and found your business to be lying about lower ball joints, front brake rotors, and wheel bearings. I got all the work done for less than 1/2 of your disgusting thievery estimate. Trust me I won't be back and will continue to allow others to know of your faulty claims on auto repair. Me: "My car has been kept there for a month with no repairs done, and I had to do all the research and call the dealership for the right part myself. That's more work and time than I'd ever expect to do with an auto mechanic. I would like a discount." Mr. Alvarez: "Your car is out front. You can come pick it up." *click* Yes. He hung up on me, without any explanation. Very unprofessional. So, now I'm gonna pick up my car, take it to another mechanic, and write up an honest review about how I was mistreated by Alvarez Auto Center. A month ago, I towed my car to the shop. Several days later they called me saying that my car's computer was damaged, and the Nissan dealership no longer makes the computer part that is damaged, and they won't make those parts for a while due to COVID shortages on computer chips. They said we could wait until those parts arrive and they will keep checking for the parts and let me know when they arrive, and they mentioned I could call a Nissan Dealership myself -- which was confusing. Why would I have to call a Nissan dealership when they can do that? So I waited, and I told all my friends the reason my car was still in the shop was due to a COVID shortage. About once a week, I'd call Alvarez Auto to ask if the parts had arrived, and they kept saying no. Yesterday-- a month later -- I was becoming convinced that Alvarez Auto had forgotten about my car sitting in there lot, and were no longer looking for a dealership that had the right part. So I called them, and they repeated that they can't find the part my car needs, and they suggested that I call the Nissan Dealership myself. Today, I did. And Nissan said that the part I was looking for (a PCM -- Power-train Control Module) does not exist in my car. The part I'm likely looking for is an ECM (Engine Control Module). I asked Alvarez if he had been looking for the wrong part all along. He said, "No. That guy at Nissan must be untrained and doesn't know what he's talking about." So I called Nissan back to verify if there was a PCM in my car. Nissan said my mechanic was mistaken. I relayed the message to Alvarez. Alvarez Auto called back 10 minutes later, and admitted that they had confused the name of the part with Nissan, and that they can order the part from Nissan in about a week and repair it for $1,500. I told them I would like a discount because I had to wait for a month for them to find the right part that needed to be ordered, it wasn't due to a COVID shortage like they originally told me, and I had to do most of the work to find where to order the correct part. I'm convinced that if I hadn't done the work to find this part myself, my car would've sat at their shop for months on end. The secretary said she would notify the owner and he would get back to me. Mr. Alvarez (Jose, I think), called me and asked what the problem was. I start to explain my story, and he cut me off 30-seconds in, saying he'd heard it all from his employees and asked what do I want. I said I wanted a discount. And as quoted above, he said, "Your car is out front of our shop. You can come pick it up." And hung up. It's absurd. I can understand how they got misinformation from the Nissan dealership initially about the COVID shortage. But that doesn't excuse for them letting an entire month go by without doing anything to find the right part, and that, in the end, I was the one who found the right part. I find it completely reasonable for them to give me a discount for taking far too long to correctly diagnose my car and order the correct part. My mother, who has worked with Alvarez Auto for years, was stunned by how they treated me. And we're committed to never even buy their gas again. read more

I'd already written my review yesterday without knowing what to expect to find out today, I wrote it all just off of my gut feelings after leaving my van there last night... MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: 12/18/18 AAA recommended, and right now under the circumstances I consider Alvarez Auto to be a blessing! The owner himself came and loaded our Van onto his flatbed, (which I know personally is not an easy or pleasant task), because of the hour & the issue this was not going an easy in and out job. So we checked around and there was a nice hotel nearby. Since there are no Uber in the area, one of the techs was kind enough to drive us to our hotel. Everyone we met there was so pleasant and polite, it was very refreshing during our country's time of stress. We'll see how tomorrow goes, I'd be happy just knowing it can be taken care of so we can go on to our destination. I'm feeling positive. 12/19/18 Today's addition: My original review stands! I could not be any happier than I am right now! ALVAREZ AUTO not only found and fixed our problem... they went ABOVE and BEYOND to correct an issue another mechanic created ELSEWHERE, but definitely far from this area and months or more prior. They DID NOT overcharge us for anything and sent a driver to pick us up and take us back to the van so that we are going to be able to spend time with my family! I seriously don't know how or what to say to express my happiness with this family owned and operated business. They have definitely restored my faith in mankind in this country! We have used Alvarez auto for the past few years and know they have always been professional , friendly and courteous and always been fair with their prices and have some great mechanics. They also tow vehicles and when you call them or go in and talk to them the tow trucks are up and running. We have sent a few individuals to Alvarez auto and they all came back saying they were terrific. In our opinion if you need a mechanic this is the place. read more

These guys prey on people! My husband broke down and this was the closest AAA shop and tow service! Tried to charge my husband over thousand$ for a fuel pump and when he told them it was way over priced they refused to do service. Then we had to use them to tow it to another shop as they are the only AAA in the area...they damaged the front of his truck and drive line when they towed it to the other shop!!! Horrible. Would give it NO stars if was an option! BTW the other shop charged us over $400 less for the repair. DON'T TRUST THESE GUYS!!!!! read more

We were on vacation traveling and ended up with a slow leak in one of our tires and just happened on Alvarez Auto. Justin Flake changed our tire and sent us on our way. He was very knowledgeable, kind and thorough. The entire center was very clean and each person we had interaction with was very pleasant. Highly recommend this business!!
